Tom Clarkson is joined by former Renault driver and F1TV commentator, Jolyon Palmer, and ex-Ferrari race engineer, Rob Smedley, to discuss the big talking points ahead of this weekend's United States Grand Prix. With just six races and three F1 Sprints to go this season, only 22 points separate championship leader Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris. Now that McLaren have wrapped up the Constructors' title, will we see a different approach from Oscar and Lando in their fight to become World Champion? Mercedes are expected to confirm George Russell and Kimi Antonelli as their driver line-up for 2026 very soon. Jolyon and Rob share their thoughts on how long those contract negotiations have taken for George and what his long-term future might look like. And a year since Charles Leclerc led Carlos Sainz to a sensational 1-2 in Austin, Ferrari are still searching for their first Grand Prix victory this year. Rob provides fascinating insight into what it's like being at the team's Maranello factory when things aren't going well and how they can return to winning ways. Welcome back to Tank Slappers. On this week's episode, host Dre Harrison is joined by Motorsport.com writers Oriol Puigdemont and Federico Faturos to report on all the action and news coming out of the 2025 Grand Prix of Argentina. At the front, it was almost a case of Deja Vu as Marc Marquez defeated his brother Alex in a one-on-one fight. But the trio ponders on whether Marc was at 100% of his speed in an attempt to win, or whether there could be even more potential in the tank for the Spaniard as he took his 90th Grand Win, tying him with the great Angel Nieto for third all-time in GP history. There's a chat about Francesco Bagnaia's side of the garage. The Double World Champion could only finish fourth in the race, with the rider himself admitting they're "missing something" from the feeling of the latest Ducati GP25. With the Italian 31 points behind Marquez in the standings, how concerned should be? There's also a deep dive on Ai Ogura's technical disqualification as Aprilia could only manage one bike finishing in 15th place across their weekend, and whether reigning Champion Jorge Martin may get a test before returning from his injuries, with his recovery time extended through the United States GP in a week and a half's time. Finally, there's talk about Pirelli becoming the sport's official tyre supplier from 2027 and why it may be adding to the "Monopoly" arguments in the midst of Liberty Media's attempted purchase, and whether Argentina has a future on the calendar with the sport confirming a race in neighbouring Brazil in 2026.
It's good to be back. This weekend was quite eventful as not only was there racing but we also had our crown jewel event of the year; the Windup Watch Fair NYC. Ricardo discussed just how different this fair was from those of the past as well as its overall impact within the watch community. From there, we jumped straight into the racing. The first test of this final stretch of the season being the Circuit of the Americas. As a Grand Prix, this circuit has been purpose built for the larger generation of F1 cars, which means competitive racing is not only possible but pretty much assured as the drivers find themselves 2-3 wide around many turns. We were not disappointed in the first laps of the race as we saw Ferrari establish an early lead while the two main drivers fighting for the championship went wide. Charles Leclerc found himself taking early command of the race and never looked back. We discussed this and Ferrari's overall dominance this past weekend. While Leclerc cruised to victory, the last laps featured an epic battle for the last podium spot between Max Verstappen and Lando Norris. This is what we were all waiting for and it did not disappoint, leaving us with a bit of controversy and a yearning for more wheel to wheel battles between these two.Take a listen as we break down the race, the titles up for grabs, and the surrounding storylines of the 2024 United States GP

Ferrari's 1-2 finish in the 2024 United States Grand Prix needs to be celebrated, for the result itself, and how Ferrari set themselves up for victory. After mid-season struggles with bouncing, Ferrari backed their "Monza" upgrade to deliver in Austin, and it did. Ferrari was the quickest car around the Circuit of the Americas. Charles Leclerc shot off into the lead after Max Verstappen ran Lando Norris wide on Turn 1 of the opening lap. LEC was not to be caught after this race winning move. As for Carlos Sainz, he used Ferrari's superior tyre degradation to undercut Verstappen and end his 7 race streak of no-podium finishes! In fact, Verstappen-Red Bull Racing's handling of Sainz's potential undercut threat was a clear indication of who their target was - Lando Norris, their title rival. The resurfaced COTA offered lesser tyre degradation and turned the race into a single-stopper; and after their round of stops, Norris was, once again, required to chase Verstappen on-track and overtake him. Verstappen put up a mega defence, as he always does, and again, as he always does, stretched the rule book to ensure Norris was put in a difficult spot - yield and back off, or overtake off-track. Norris took the bait, and pulled off the overtake off-track. McLaren left the ruling to the FIA Stewards, who penalised Norris (5 seconds time penalty), but let Verstappen, who was also off-track during their skirmish, escape scot-free! Of course, all hell has broken loose on social media, with fans highlighting the FIA's inconsistencies over the years, and also, judgments favouring Verstappen. In this episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast, Soumil Arora, @f1statsguru and Kunal Shah discuss the 2024 USA Grand Prix, Verstappen-Norris and why the FIA ruled the way they did, Verstappen's knowledge of the "rules of on-track engagement", Liam Lawson & Franco Colapinto's mega drives to out-score their experienced team-mates, and of course, Haas' super successful home race at COTA. Jon Noble and Mark Mann-Bryans sit down to review all of Saturday's action from the United States GP in Austin, Texas. In the morning, Max Verstappen dominated the Sprint to win his first race of any kind since the Spanish Grand Prix in June, pulling away from a scrappy Carlos Sainz and Lando Norris in third. There's also a discussion on a rough day for Mercedes, as George Russell's tyres fell apart in the Sprint, swiftly followed by a crash at Turn 19 on his final qualifying lap, with teammate Lewis Hamilton being eliminated in Q1. Also featured, Lando Norris taking his fourth pole position, the FIA ending its look at Red Bull's Bib height adjuster, and the growing tension between Liam Lawson and Fernando Alonso on track. Formula 1 is back again! And of course, to make up for the weeks of no racing, we're straight into a triple header of races in the Americas. It is expected that all teams will bring upgrades to Austin, after all, they've been working through the autumn break. Will the upgrades change the pecking order? Can Red Bull Racing's upgrades bring it back in the fight with McLaren? In fact, will McLaren's upgrades face the same fate as their rivals? Basically, not deliver performance, for a change! In this episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast, Soumil Arora, @f1statsguru and Kunal Shah preview the 2024 United States Grand Prix. After a series of outlier circuits, Formula 1 will race at a traditional racing venue, the Circuit of the Americas. The elevation into Turn 1, the twisty Sector 1, the high downforce Sector 3 - the COTA has taken inspiration from several iconic corners and connected them to make their own layout. How will Liam Lawson fare against Yuki Tsunoda? Also, it's an "F1 Sprint" weekend, which means Lando Norris can take more points off Max Verstappen, but can he, will he? The last time he scored back-to-back race wins in his Motorsport career was in 2017! Will Ferrari continue to be in the reckoning? Will Mercedes' upgrades give them the performance boost to join the fight at the sharp end? Tune in!
