The most memorable moments from the 2002 F1 season often involve Ferraris messing about on the run to the finish line. But unlike in Austria when the position swap was the result of strict orders from the pit wall, at Indianapolis Michael Schumacher returned the favour - or did he?Host Glenn Freeman is joined by Mark Hughes and Bring Back V10s debutant Jonathan Noble, who were both at the 2002 US Grand Prix. They look back on the confusion around the finish, as Schumacher seemed unable to decide if he was trying to give Barrichello a victory, or engineer a dead heat finish. We also look back on Ford completing a three-month review of its failing Jaguar team, BAR considering its identity for the future, Felipe Massa effectively having F1's first 10-place grid penalty turned into a race ban by his team, and a shock announcement of a new American F1 team that never came to anything.Want MORE BBV10s? Welcome back to Flat Chat! And it's another late one thanks to various movements of people. And in the case of Codders and Autosport Grand Prix Editor Alex Kalinauckas coming back from Mexico, movements of people in the wrong direction at the wrong time… of course, Mark Gallagher joins as well! The latest edition of GP Racing magazine hit the newsstands just before the US Grand Prix as we look at who's going to be top dog at Ferrari next year, as Mark and Alex ponder what the Vettel-esque mistakes Lewis Hamilton shouldn't make as he prepares to battle Charles Leclerc for supremacy at Maranello. Elsewhere, Pat Symonds is featured as he talks about why multiple teams are struggling to add performance as the season goes on, and why McLaren has waited so long to use its latest floor upgrade. And of course, there has to be a discussion on driving standards after Max Verstappen doubled down on his aggressive defending against Lando Norris, and received 20 seconds of time penalties during the Mexico Grand Prix. How will they be adjusted ahead of the Qatar Grand Prix, and is the FIA being consistent enough with its stewarding? Despite being a hugely versatile racing driver, who competed in Formula 3000, IndyCar, Sports Cars and Touring Cars, Christian Danner was unable to showcase his full potential in Formula 1 in the mid-late 1980s. During an era characterised by poor reliability and pre-qualifying, he either failed to start many of the races he entered, or he failed to finish them. But that certainly doesn't mean he's short of some fascinating tales from his time in the sport. Speaking to Tom Clarkson, Christian remembers becoming the first F1 driver to be disqualified for dangerous driving and how Ayrton Senna leapt to his defence. He also talks about the opposition he faced from the media back home in Germany, why Zakspeed teammate Martin Brundle kept him on his toes , how he climbed from P26 on the grid to a career-best finish of P4 at the US Grand Prix in 1989, and much more. Ferrari completely tore up expectations whilst Verstappen and Norris clashed again. This is the United States Grand Prix 2024 Winners & Losers Revealed!Climb the ladder with me over on Patreon: https://patreon.com/lawvsFerrari shocked the grid at the 2024 United States Grand Prix, claiming a stunning 1-2 finish with Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz leading the charge. In a weekend where many expected Red Bull dominance, Ferrari took full advantage of their pace and strategy, shaking up the Constructors' Championship. Meanwhile, Max Verstappen played it smart, winning the Sprint and securing a solid third-place finish in the main race, extending his lead despite Ferrari's incredible performance. Haas delivered their best North American result since 2018, with Nico Hulkenberg in the points and Kevin Magnussen from Haas showing competitive pace before tire strategy issues cost him a higher finish. On the rookie front, Liam Lawson and Franco Colapinto continue to impress, bagging 9th place in just his sixth F1 race, while Alex Albon's struggles raised concerns about his future performance. Aston Martin, on the other hand, faced a weekend to forget, with Fernando Alonso unable to lift the team higher than 8th. This week we delve into the curious case of Daniel Ricciardo. He once rode a horse into the paddock at Austin, but will not be lining up there in at this year's US Grand Prix - or any other Grands Prix - after being dropped by Red Bull. Daniel was one of F1's biggest fan favourites and an 8-time Grand Prix winner. But he's not been the same driver for a few years now. As always with F1, a sport all about technology and hardware, at the heart of this is a very human story. On this podcast we drill down into that story - what made Ricciardo special? And what went wrong? We hear from a Chief Engineer whose job was to develop Ricciardo for his big-time 2014 move to Red Bull Racing and from the Australian F1 TV host, who's known Daniel since his early days. With James in the studio are two top F1 journalists who covered Ricciardo's entire career, Autosport's F1 Editor Jon Noble and Chief motorsport writer Ben Hunt. Send your comments or questions to @jamesallenonf1 on X/Twitter or jamesallenonf1@autosport.com. Guests: Phil Charles, former Chief Race Engineer, Toro Rosso F1 team (now RB) Greg Rust, former Network 10 F1 Presenter A Motorsport Studios production for Autosport
