The Language of Climate Politics (Oxford UP, 2024) offers readers new ways to talk about the climate crisis that will help get fossil fuels out of our economy and save our planet. It's an analysis of the current discourse of American climate politics, but also a critical history of the terms that most directly influence the way not just conservatives but centrists on both sides of the political divide think and talk about climate change. In showing how those terms lead to mistaken beliefs about climate change and its solutions, the book equips readers with a new vocabulary that will enable them to neutralize climate propaganda and fight more effectively for a livable future. Dr. Guenther also shares profound insights on transgenerational trauma, drawing from his studies with Thomas Hubel and his time with Indigenous cultures in Canada. After beginning his career as a surgeon and family doctor, Roland grew disillusioned with the mechanical approach of conventional medicine and sought a more holistic path. He was introduced to homeopathy early in his career, captivated by its alignment with spiritual teachings and its remarkable efficacy in treating severe diseases. With a deep passion for spiritual healing, Roland spent years studying Native American traditions, living with the Blackfoot people and the Huichol in Mexico, where he connected with nature and learned sacred practices. In 2005, he immigrated to Canada, where he now focuses on both individual client work and teaching homeopathy, with a particular emphasis on C4-homeopathy, which explores the spiritual dimensions of healing. Roland also leads Shameeah Workshops across North America and Europe, fostering heart-to-heart communication with nature and all living beings. Welcome back to another week of the Listen Local Podcast! We have a show full of stories, memories and more involving the BLA. Our guest today is Legendary Teacher, Snowmobiler Hall of Famer, Award winning Track Coach, and overall great guy, Dave Guenther. Trust us... There are many more titles we could add before his name, but in all honesty, he was one of the best teachers ever at Pequot Lakes High School. He and the crew (who all had Guenther as a teacher) reminisce on times at PLHS and man were there stories. After all of the PLHS talk, he dives into the snowmobile part of the show. From bringing the Antique Snowmobile Club of America to the Lakes Area to becoming one of the faces of the Minnesota snowmobile industry, Guenther hits on it all. On that note, he mentions other local recognizable snowmobile names like Sturm, Hibbert, Olson and more! Plus, A SUPER BUSY weekend in the BRAINERD LAKES AREA! Just wayyyy too much to type out so tune in to hear it all. And as always... Today's episode is a continuation of my conversation with John and Carrie Guenther, whose only child Gideon went to Heaven in the fall of 2020. Today we go deeper in our discussion, including the Guenther's advice for newly bereaved parents, their response to the dreaded “How many children do you have” question, what they've discovered about God's character in their journey, and how they're learning to manage the holidays after the loss of their only son. I believe you'll be blessed by listening in! I would love to hear your thoughts on the show. I am so excited today to introduce you to my friends John and Carrie Guenther. We met the Guenthers when they attended our very first While We're Waiting Weekend in Ohio back in September of 2023. As they shared the story of their son Gideon at that retreat, I was struck not just by the grace with which they expressed it, but by the profound loss parents who lose their only child endure. I'm excited to present our conversation to you over the next two weeks … I pray that it will give you a new compassion for those who have no surviving children, and if you find yourself in that group, I pray that this episode will make you feel seen and loved. I would love to hear your thoughts on the show.
