It's good to be back. This weekend was quite eventful as not only was there racing but we also had our crown jewel event of the year; the Windup Watch Fair NYC. Ricardo discussed just how different this fair was from those of the past as well as its overall impact within the watch community. From there, we jumped straight into the racing. The first test of this final stretch of the season being the Circuit of the Americas. As a Grand Prix, this circuit has been purpose built for the larger generation of F1 cars, which means competitive racing is not only possible but pretty much assured as the drivers find themselves 2-3 wide around many turns. We were not disappointed in the first laps of the race as we saw Ferrari establish an early lead while the two main drivers fighting for the championship went wide. Charles Leclerc found himself taking early command of the race and never looked back. We discussed this and Ferrari's overall dominance this past weekend. While Leclerc cruised to victory, the last laps featured an epic battle for the last podium spot between Max Verstappen and Lando Norris. This is what we were all waiting for and it did not disappoint, leaving us with a bit of controversy and a yearning for more wheel to wheel battles between these two.Take a listen as we break down the race, the titles up for grabs, and the surrounding storylines of the 2024 United States GP

Ahead of the Mexico City Grand Prix, Tom Clarkson sits down with Ferrari Ambassador Marc Gené to preview a crucial weekend for both F1 World Championships. In the Drivers' title fight, McLaren's Lando Norris needs a victory. Does he need to be on pole position to avoid needing to overtake supreme defender Max Verstappen, or does the long run to the first corner change the game? After Ferrari's 1-2 finish at the United States Grand Prix, Marc explains why they're confident the car can perform well again at Mexico's high altitude racetrack and how the team is feeling about a Constructors' Championship challenge. Plus, Marc and Tom discuss the drivers who need a good result: Sergio Perez who wants to ease the pressure on his place in F1, Williams' Franco Colapinto, who is still trying to claim a place on the 2025 grid, and Fernando Alonso, who is competing in his 400th Grand Prix. Has Lando Norris blown his opportunity to win the Drivers' World Championship? Can Ferrari stage a late push to claim the Constructors' title? And did Fernando Alonso go too far with his comments about Liam Lawson? This week, DC and EJ review the United States Grand Prix, where Ferrari achieved their first one-two finish in the US since Michael Schumacher and Felipe Massa in Indianapolis back in 2006. However, the most debated moment of the race was arguably the stewards' decision to hand Lando Norris a 5-second penalty for his overtake on championship rival Max Verstappen. DC and EJ believe the incident reflects Lando Norris' inexperience in a title fight, suggesting he should have given the position back to Verstappen and waited for a better opportunity to attack later in the lap.Plus, they question whether Ferrari made the right decision in signing seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, given his recent dip in form.Anchors, you can now join the FFS! Ferrari's 1-2 finish in the 2024 United States Grand Prix needs to be celebrated, for the result itself, and how Ferrari set themselves up for victory. After mid-season struggles with bouncing, Ferrari backed their "Monza" upgrade to deliver in Austin, and it did. Ferrari was the quickest car around the Circuit of the Americas. Charles Leclerc shot off into the lead after Max Verstappen ran Lando Norris wide on Turn 1 of the opening lap. LEC was not to be caught after this race winning move. As for Carlos Sainz, he used Ferrari's superior tyre degradation to undercut Verstappen and end his 7 race streak of no-podium finishes! In fact, Verstappen-Red Bull Racing's handling of Sainz's potential undercut threat was a clear indication of who their target was - Lando Norris, their title rival. The resurfaced COTA offered lesser tyre degradation and turned the race into a single-stopper; and after their round of stops, Norris was, once again, required to chase Verstappen on-track and overtake him. Verstappen put up a mega defence, as he always does, and again, as he always does, stretched the rule book to ensure Norris was put in a difficult spot - yield and back off, or overtake off-track. Norris took the bait, and pulled off the overtake off-track. McLaren left the ruling to the FIA Stewards, who penalised Norris (5 seconds time penalty), but let Verstappen, who was also off-track during their skirmish, escape scot-free! Of course, all hell has broken loose on social media, with fans highlighting the FIA's inconsistencies over the years, and also, judgments favouring Verstappen. In this episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast, Soumil Arora, @f1statsguru and Kunal Shah discuss the 2024 USA Grand Prix, Verstappen-Norris and why the FIA ruled the way they did, Verstappen's knowledge of the "rules of on-track engagement", Liam Lawson & Franco Colapinto's mega drives to out-score their experienced team-mates, and of course, Haas' super successful home race at COTA. In a weekend where many expected Red Bull dominance, Ferrari took full advantage of their pace and strategy, shaking up the Constructors' Championship. Meanwhile, Max Verstappen played it smart, winning the Sprint and securing a solid third-place finish in the main race, extending his lead despite Ferrari's incredible performance. Haas delivered their best North American result since 2018, with Nico Hulkenberg in the points and Kevin Magnussen from Haas showing competitive pace before tire strategy issues cost him a higher finish. On the rookie front, Liam Lawson and Franco Colapinto continue to impress, bagging 9th place in just his sixth F1 race, while Alex Albon's struggles raised concerns about his future performance. Aston Martin, on the other hand, faced a weekend to forget, with Fernando Alonso unable to lift the team higher than 8th. After another four-week break, the run-in for the 2024 Formula One World Championship starts this weekend with Round 19 - The United States Grand Prix from Austin, Texas. Alex Kalinauckas and Ben Hunt join Bryn Lucas from the Autosport Podcast studio and together they catch up on all the autumnal news before previewing the race itself. Last week we found out that Haas and Toyota have formed a new technical partnership, the Japanese manufacturers' first presence in the sport since 2009 as they "share resources" with the American-British team. Alex goes into detail as to what the relationship entails, and whether it's the first step for a full-bodied return for Toyota. There's also a discussion on Alpine's future in the sport as the French team confirmed they'll be ceasing to build F1 power units when the regulations change in 2026 and whether Mick Schumacher is a late contender for what could be 2025's final remaining seat at Sauber. And of course, there's a preview on COTA, with a newly repaved surface set to benefit a rejuvenated Red Bull, amidst claims the Milton Keynes team could be back on form, with an upgrade package set to be used in Austin, and why their rivals at McLaren are reluctant to do the same. And how will COTA handle their track limits after their 2023 controversy and Haas's "right to review"? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
