Call up the Michaels and bust out as many classroom gimmicks as you can because Did I Do That? is wrapping up our trip to the Old Bay (aka San Francisco) by going back to school. The legendary Bob Aufuldish (partner at Aufuldish & Warriner and Professor of Design at CCA) joins Sean in Bob's San Anselmo studio to talk about designer golfballs, the challenge of being taken seriously as a young professor, and typeface impulse buys.Bob's long-time practice with his wife and partner Kathy Warinner, Aufuldish and Warinner, can be found online at aufwar.com. You can find the interview Bob did a few years back for AIGA SF with fellow CCA professor Eric Heiman on the AIGA SF website—that article expands on a few of the stories we talked through here and is a ton of fun! You can buy Bob's type work as FontBoy on MyFonts, or just check out the (lovely but frozen in amber) FontBoy website at fontboy.com.This episode was recorded February 1, 2025 in Bob's studio in the wilds of Marin, in beautiful San Anselmo, California. Thank you so much to Bob and Kathy for hosting me (and letting me scarf down so many of their Trader Joe's cookies while I was out there)! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
The Paleo Diet has long been touted as a diet that did not contain potatoes, beans or other starchy foods. New research now shows that likely wasn't the case. Football Program’s Direction Going with a recruiting staff: the right move for Michigan. A John Beilein reboot? Understand getting players but OL isn’t as pure star ratings as the rest, and Warinner was elite in his evaluations and preparing the guys to play. Who makes moves for the future if you don’t plan to be around? Fill in behind them with analysts. Greg Mattison? This is a be good by 2022 plan; they’ll need some transfers for 2021. Culture = Winning. Feels like Harbaugh’s taking a home run cut. Recruiting Ohio or New England: where do you put your resources? Purdue Game/Hockey vs ND/Nazilla Franz had a good game, thinks he didn’t, Michigan hockey can’t get a call, did get the first goal both games. Naz needs help, can’t afford not to have production from the Browns.
In this episode, we look at two final coaching changes and the on-field impact they could have for the Wolverines in 2021. First, we look at new wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy's hiring beyond simply the obvious recruiting perks. We discuss his qualifications, why heading a high-school football team is an interesting task and perspective to bring to Michigan's staff and what about Bellamy should make him a hit with the current players and coaches. We also opine on how his arrival impacts other coaches' roles on staff. Then, we look at arguably Michigan's most controversial decisions of all the coaching changes, discussing the Wolverines' decision to move on from Ed Warinner and move Sherrone Moore to offensive line coach. We look back on Warinner's tenure and what we think Moore can add to what will be a modestly experienced offensive line room. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

M., Borry, M., Bravo-Lopez, M. J., Fernandez-Guerra, A., Green, E. J., Ramachandran, S. L., Heintzman, P. D., Spyrou, M. A., Hübner, A., Gancz, A. S., Hider, J., Allshouse, A. F., Warinner, C. G. Abstract: Ancient DNA and RNA are valuable data sources for a wide range of disciplines. Within the field of ancient metagenomics, the number of published genetic datasets has risen dramatically in recent years, and tracking this data for reuse is particularly important for large-scale ecological and evolutionary studies of individual microbial taxa, microbial communities, and metagenomic assemblages. AncientMetagenomeDir (archived at https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.3980834) is a collection of indices of published genetic data deriving from ancient microbial samples that provides basic, standardised metadata and accession numbers to allow rapid data retrieval from online repositories. These collections are community-curated and span multiple sub-disciplines in order to ensure adequate breadth and consensus in metadata definitions, as well as longevity of the database. Internal guidelines and automated checks to facilitate compatibility with established sequence-read archives and term-ontologies ensure consistency and interoperability for future meta-analyses. This collection will also assist in standardising metadata reporting for future ancient metagenomic studies. Copy rights belong to original authors. Visit the link for more info

Things discussed: Ayden Owens: USC transfer is #16 in decathlon rankings. One of the best athletes in the world is now at Michigan. Michigan's new indoor track has banked corners on hydraulics. Football camp opens: two helmets & shorts, then two helmets and shoulderpads, Tuesday is full pads. Sean McKeon and the tight end depth chart. Finally hearing nice things about Muhammad Fullback doesn't exist. They count as backs now. Spread H is going to get five carries a game. Sainristil or Giles Jackson? NOW can we have some RPOs? Right tackle battle: tie goes to Mayfield. Starting as a tie. Warinner thinks this is a great OL. Depth exists! When was the last time we had OL depth? Running back: Tru can go the distance because blocking is a big deal. Jay: Turner the fastest guy they've had in Harbaugh era. Charbonnet a ball of potential. Defensive tackle: Dwumfour could be our dude if he can defend the run. Kwity as a DT? Uncomfortable with the secondary: Vincent Gray is #2 until Ambry is well again. More Cover 2 this year. Jordan Glasgow will get some time at WLB. How to read practice reports.
