A search of peer-reviewed articles returns no results with that search term, indicating a lack of academic or folkloric interest in the subject. Searching by date, there are only three results for "lion's gate portal" between 1980 and 1999. Between 1999 and 2010, we have four pages of Google results. VYS0034 | The Weird Review of the Year 2023 Pt.1 - Show Notes 2023 was a weird year, a slightly frightening year, a year dominated by UAPs becoming ever more unidentified, AIs becoming ever more intelligent, the Military–industrial complex becoming ever more complex and human beings becoming ever more fucking stupid. In this first part of the second annual Weird Review of the Year, Hine takes Buckley on a fevered journey through the haunted forest of the memories of the year that was, stopping along the way to point out the many strange lights in the sky, the fierce black leopards in the long grass, and the spoon bending, sooth-saying light entertainer hiding in the dark shadows cast by the impenetrable canopy of misinformation onto the windy, uncertain and often deceptive desire-path of truth... This week we're pushing our "um, actually" glasses up the bridge of our nose and busting some myths about archaeology. Was 30 the new 80 in the Paleolithic? Would someone from the Middle Ages be too short to ride a rollercoaster? Carbon dating is pretty precise, right? Can we tell if a skeleton is a lady? TRANSCRIPT OF AUDIO From the Cumberland Gap to the Atlantic Ocean, this is Virginia Water Radio for the week of October 4, 2021. This week, we pause our series of episodes on water connections to the human body, to revisit an episode from fall 2017 that explores one of the hallmarks of the autumn season. MUSIC – ~ 11 sec – instrumental.Following the astronomical start of fall on September 22, this episode features a fiddle tune named for a water-related weather event that will mark a meteorological fall turning point when it occurs across the Commonwealth in October or November. Have a listen to the music for about 25 more seconds. MUSIC - ~26 sec – instrumental. You've been listening to part of “Cold Frosty Morn',” performed here by the western Virginia band New Standard. One of the consequences of fall's arrival is frost in the mornings and, eventually, a significant enough freeze to end of the growing season, when temperatures fall to about 28 degrees Fahrenheit or below. That temperature typically occurs for the first time each fall in mid-to-late October in western Virginia, early-to-mid November east of the Blue Ridge, and mid-to-late November in some Virginia coastal areas. Those predicted periods are based on historical records through 2010; the typical frost and freeze dates may be shifting as Virginia experiences climate change.Generally, frost forms when water vapor in the air contacts plants, windows, cars, or other solid surfaces that are at or below water's freezing point of 32 degrees Fahrenheit. Some specific kinds of frost include radiationfrost, occurring when surface objects are cooled by radiating their heat; advection frost, occurring when surfaces are cooled by winds; and rime, a dense type of frost that forms when super-cooled liquid water in fog or clouds contacts solid surfaces, such as trees, radio towers, or ships on winter seas. Frost may seem far away on Virginia's often mild, early October days. But to paraphrase a comment about truth from the poem “Birches,” by RobertFrost, frost-producing weather will soon break in with all of its matter-of-fact. Thanks to New Standard for permission to use this week's music, and we close with about 10 more seconds of “Cold Frosty Morn'.” MUSIC - ~12 sec – instrumental. Unless otherwise noted, all Web addresses mentioned were functional as of 8-23-21. TRANSCRIPT OF AUDIO From the Cumberland Gap to the Atlantic Ocean, this is Virginia Water Radio for the week of August 23, 2021. This episode, the second in a series of episodes on water in U.S. civil rights history, explores water as symbolism in African American civil rights history. [The first episode in the series--the series overview--is Episode 566, 3-1-21.] We start with about 50 seconds of music. MUSIC – ~53 sec – Lyrics: “Well the river ends between two hills; follow the drinkin' gourd. There's another river on the other side; follow the drinkin' gourd. Follow the drinkin' gourd; follow the drinkin' gourd. For the ol' man is a'waiting for the carry you to freedom; follow the drinkin' gourd.” You've been listening to part of “Follow the Drinking Gourd,” recorded by Eric Bibb in 2013. The song is believed to have been used prior to the Civil War as a code to help enslaved people escape on the Underground Railroad. In that interpretation, the verses gave information about the route, and the drinking gourd referred to the Big Dipper, setting the direction to go by pointing towards the North Star. Another water-related spiritual song, “Wade in the Water,” is also believed to have been used as Underground Railroad code. Both songs became popular hymns within African American churches and, by the mid-1900s, were closely associated with the modern Civil Rights Movement. In a 2018 post entitled “The Role of Water in African American History,” Tyler Parry stated that, “water's culturally symbolic importance resonated across generations….” Following are four other examples of water symbolism connected to the African American movement for civil rights. Number 1: “Parting the waters.” This phrase refers to the account in the Bible Book of Exodus, in which God parted the waters of the Red Sea so that the Israelites could escape from Egyptian slavery. It's been used as a metaphor for the enormous challenges that African Americans have faced in acquiring and asserting their civil rights. For instance, it's the title of the first volume in Taylor Branch's trilogy on the modern civil rights era, America in the King Years. That trilogy is the source for the next two examples. Number 2. “Until justice rolls down like waters, and righteousness like a mighty stream.” Martin Luther King, Jr., frequently used this phrase, taken from the Bible Book of Amos, to describe how long the U.S. civil rights movement would need to continue. Number 3: “Springs of racial poison.” At the signing of the federal Civil Rights Act in July 1964, President Lyndon Johnson said, “We must not fail. Let us close the springs of racial poison.” And number 4. “A fire no water could put out.” Dr. King used this phrase in his final public sermon in Memphis. Recalling demonstrations in Birmingham, Alabama, when Birmingham Commissioner of Public Safety “Bull” Connor ordered fire hoses turned on demonstrators, Dr. King said that Connor didn't realize “that there was a certain kind of fire that no water could put out.” These examples are only a small piece of a much larger story. I invite listeners to offer Virginia Water Radio other examples of water metaphors and symbolism in U.S. civil rights history. Thanks to Eric Bibb, his manager Heather Taylor, and Riddle Films for permission to use this week's music, and we close with about 25 more seconds of Mr. Bibb performing “Follow the Drinking Gourd.” MUSIC – ~ 24 sec – Lyrics: “For the ol' man is a'waitin' for to carry you to freedom; follow the drinkin' gourd.” SHIP'S BELL Virginia Water Radio is produced by the Virginia Water Resources Research Center, part of Virginia Tech's College of Natural Resources and Environment. This week we welcome Dr. Mario Borunda to the show. In his recent article published on EarthSky.com, Mario discusses advancements in warp drive technology research. You can read his article, "Warp Drives: Physicists Give Chances Of Faster-Than-Light Space Travel A Boost," here: https://earthsky.org/space/warp-drive-chances-of-faster-than-light-space-travel/ Dr. Borunda double-majored in Physics and Mathematics earning his B.S. from the University of Texas at El Paso in 2003. He received his Ph.D. in Physics from Texas A&M University in 2008. He spent three years as a postdoc and nine months as a research associate at Harvard University. In September 2012 he became a faculty member of the physics department at Oklahoma State University. Dr. Borunda has also been a visiting researcher at Harvard University. Mario has performed research in several areas. His work at UTEP, performed with Jorge Lopez, involved using α-particle spectroscopy as a teaching tool. As a graduate student (advised by Jairo Sinova) and post-doc (under Eric Heller) he performed calculations on electronic conductivity in two-dimensional systems, proposed and described an atom-laser coupling scheme that induces spin-orbit interaction in ultra-cold atoms, and simulated electron transport in graphene. At Oklahoma State his research has focused in quantum information, the quantum-to-classical boundary in chaotic systems, and using theoretical methods to predict novel materials for energy production and electronic applications. More details about the work performed at OSU is described in the research sections of The Borunda Research Group's website: https://borunda.okstate.edu/members.html#borunda Dr. Borunda is enthusiastic about working with undergraduate students and has worked towards producing a positive impact as undergraduate research coordinator for the OSU physics program, with minority students through the OK-LSAMP program, as faculty advisor of OSU's SACNAS chapter, and as technical officer with the National Society of Hispanic Physicists. **************************************** The Weekly Space Hangout is a production of CosmoQuest. Kong goes psychedelic as we cover 2017’s Kong: Skull Island, a star-studded homage to Apocalypse Now that reframes King Kong as an anti-war story in the shadow of the Vietnam war. Lee liked the comparatively unproblematic depiction of Skull Island’s natives while Sarah can’t remember what the villain monsters remind her of. This revised episode from March 2016 is part of a series this year of spring-related episodes. MUSIC – ~ 13 sec – Lyrics: “see I ate all my dinner, and so much for winter; I’m gonna run till the springtime’s gone.” This week, music from the Harrisonburg, Va.-based band, The Steel Wheels, captures some of the “fever” of spring, which begins astronomically in the northern hemisphere on March 20 this year. Have a listen for about 40 more seconds. Music – ~ 41 sec – Lyrics: “Hey, hey, hey, what a day. I’m gonna soak up sun, gonna dry out the river, I’m gonna run to the shimmering pond, until the summer comes….” You’ve been listening to part of “Until the Summer Comes,” from The Steel Wheels’ 2013 album, “No More Rain.” Water is part of spring’s feverish pull for this song’s narrator and for many non-humans, like Spring Peepers [SOUND ~ 3 sec] seeking temporary ponds for breeding; Red-winged Blackbirds [SOUND ~ 3 sec] nesting in wetlands; and—to humans’ dismay—mosquitoes [SOUND ~ 2 sec] seeking all kinds of standing water for egg-laying.As of this recording on March 19, water supplies were mostly in good condition across Virginia. The U.S. Drought Monitor from the University of Nebraska showed no current drought in Virginia; the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality’s drought indicators map showed mostly normal conditions, except for low groundwater in part of northern Virginia; and the U.S. Geological Survey’s WaterWatch showed stream flows over the past 28 days at or above normal across the Commonwealth.Let’s hope that those good water conditions persist well beyond when summer begins astronomically on June 20, for the sake of kids in creeks, frogs in ponds, birds in wetlands, water supplies in reservoirs, plants in the ground, and countless other aquatic connections. Thanks to Freesound.org for the mosquito sound, and thanks to The Steel Wheels for permission to use this week’s music. Here’s to spring’s arrival, and we close with about 25 more seconds of “Until the Summer Comes.” MUSIC – ~ 26 sec – Lyrics: “Until the summer comes.” SHIP’S BELL Virginia Water Radio is produced by the Virginia Water Resources Research Center, part of Virginia Tech’s College of Natural Resources and Environment. Denne uken skal roveren Perseverance prøve å lande på Mars. Roveren har reist i syv måneder for å komme frem til den røde planeten. NASA beskriver landingssekvensen som «seven minutes of terror». The lunar event means simply that a second full moon will rise in the same month. The first one, a harvest moon, lit up the sky on Oct. 1. It won’t actually be blue unless there are dust and smoke particles of a certain size, which can scatter red light and make the moon take on a bluish hue, according to EarthSky.org. The next blue moon will hit skies on Aug. 30, 2023. Full moons on Halloween are even rarer. They only happen every 18 or 19 years. So get out your telescopes tomorrow!!!

There is one story well-known throughout the world about the Windy City and a cow kicking over a lantern that set the Great Chicago Fire in motion. The fact that the story of Catherine O'Leary's cow is totally false seems not to matter, as this wrong-headed legend continues to perpetuate itself with the general public. As the newspaper editor Dutton Peabody says in the 1952 film The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, “when the legend becomes fact, print the legend.” And so it is, a hundred and fifty years later, Mrs. O’Leary and her cow live on in popular culture. The events of the evening of October 8th, 1871 would be the culmination of a prolonged hot, dry summer in the Midwest, and when Chicago began to burn, there were fires burning in several other places as well. However. Chicago and the legend of Mrs. O’Leary’s cow eclipsed the reporting of the other fires, and stuck in the popular imagination. The Great Chicago Fire became the second star on the flag of Chicago, a marked tragedy, as approximately one-third of the residents lost their homes and the more than 300 who lost their lives. But the fire was also considered a beginning for Chicago, a reset, a blank slate -- that would allow the city’s business leaders and architects to imagine a new and better Chicago to rise from the ashes like a great phoenix. In this episode, the Windy City Historians interview William Pack, a historian and author of “The Essential Great Chicago Fire” (2015) to recount the events of that faithful Sunday night when smoke was spotted southwest of the city center, near the intersection of Jefferson and DeKoven Streets. It is an illuminating story of mistakes, delays, human error, and heroism, and a transformative event for the young city on the prairie that became the "City on the Make" as later chronicled by Nelson Algren. Two days after the fire co-owner and managing editor of the Chicago Tribune Joseph Medill wrote, “We have lost money, but we have saved life, health, vigor and industry. Let the watchword henceforth be Chicago shall rise again!” In December of that year Medill would be elected mayor of the City of Chicago as a candidate of the "fireproof" party serving two terms from 1871 to 1873. * Jaw-dropping, head-banging, socks blown off, eye-popping, baffled, shocked & stunned: Really. :) Real Science Radio hosts Bob Enyart and Fred Williams have fun providing so many examples of evolutionists (chemical, stellar, biological) being jaw-dropping surprised, shocked, even stunned and horrified, when their huge discoveries contradict some of the most fundamental predictions of their materialist theories. * Head-banging: As reported by LiveScience, cutting-edge researchers running a major National Science Foundation evolution experiment admitted that, "If Darwin was right", they would have documented the evidence for his claimed insight on competition and the (supposed) tree of life. Instead, their results falsified Darwin's claim. Of the 60 species of algae being studied for a five year period, Charles Darwin predicted how well and how poorly such organisms would compete for resources, based on their respective distances from each other on the (supposed) tree of life. But of the outcome, "It was completely unexpected. We sat there banging our heads against the wall. Darwin's hypothesis has been with us for so long, how can it not be right? ... We should be able to look at the [supposed] Tree of Life, and evolution should make it clear who will win in competition and who will lose. But the traits that regulate competition can't be predicted from the Tree of Life." For more, see LiveScience and rsr.org/darwin-was-wrong-about-the-tree-of-life. * 2015 Update: One of many discoveries that could added to this list of shocked evolutionists is the black hole at 12.8 billion light years away the mass of 12 billion Suns that "simply can't exist" by the big bang theory, but does. * 2019 Update: Moon may be tectonically active, geologists shaken, is the headline in National Geographic. "A new look at Apollo-era seismic data revealed that the moon's insides might be warmer than scientists thought possible." See this also at rsr.org/tess#moon in our classic List of the Transient Events of the Solar System! * Stunned without the Foggiest Notion: So "astounding" are the "similarities" of Hox developmental regulatory genes across the animal kingdom that prominent evolutionist Sean Carroll wrote that, “no biologist had even the foggiest notion that such similarities could exist between genes of such different animals.” Because little in biology makes sense in the light of evolution, a world full of neo-Darwinist scientists never predicted this astounding consistency because, by their belief system, "The evolutionary lines that led to flies and mice diverged more than 500 million years ago..." So, this world famous biologist admits that, "Such sequence similarity was just stunning." Of course this falsified one of the most fundamental predictions of neo-Darwinism. [This item is a post-show update.] * Horrendous: Dr. David Page of the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research in Cambridge, Mass., said in the journal Nature that the human and chimp Y chromosomes are "horrendously different from each other." Horrendously? Is that a scientific term? Why not just, "different?" Is Saturn horrendously different from Mars? Why horrendously so? Because for modern Darwinism to not lose face, chimps have to be shown to be our closest relatives. Yet 15% of the gorilla genome is closer to us, and the chimp's Y chromosome (that which makes us males... well, males...) is so massively different that we have yet more evidence on its face that the human genome is not 98.5% identical to the chim. For more, see rsr.rog/list-of-genomes-that-just-dont-fit. * Jaw-dropping: National Geographic quotes NASA's Messenger team member David Blewett saying, as RSR documents evolutionary scientists saying all the time regarding major observations that contradict predictions based on their most fundamental claims, "this jaw-dropping thing that nobody ever predicted," that Mercury has actively forming surface features, something judged impossible for a tiny, four-billion year old inert rock. :) * Socks Blown Off: Close-up photos showed the youthful appearance of Pluto as did the images of its largest moon: "We originally thought Charon would be an ancient terrain covered in craters," said New Horizons team member Cathy Olkin. "So when we saw the pictures this morning, it just blew our socks off." And panning upward from their feet, Discover Magazine reports on NASA's Pluto team including principal investigator Alan Stern's eyes popping out of his head. * Baffled by Asteroids that Look Like Comets: See phys.org, NASA, EarthSky, and AmazingSpace. * And the Beat Goes On: For more really fun examples, just listen to today's program! And as an honorable mention, consider the response of the scientists who found the presence of modern bacteria, etc. in these allegedly 220 Mya microbes :) and the description of 42 "oddball" blue stars in the Milky Way! * More Baffling Still: After 150 years of searching, evolutionists have found the best evidence ever discovered for Darwinism, caught on tape no less... * 2015 Update: One of many discoveries that could be added to this list of shocked evolutionists is the black hole, at 12.8 billion light-years away, the mass of 12 billion Suns that "simply can't exist" by the big bang theory, but it does. (Nat'l Geographic removed that page from the web but we put it back up!) And likewise when others described 42 "oddball" blue stars in the Milky Way! * More Baffling Still: After 150 years of searching, evolutionists have found the best evidence ever discovered for Darwinism, caught on tape no less... Can SpaceX Reach Influence The Minds and Minds of The People Like The Shuttle? https://youtu.be/QQ74dGEXhYc Strange UFO-shaped hole appears in the clouds, but alien landing not likely in NC Link: https://www.charlotteobserver.com/news/local/article237241784.html Not long after, photos from other people began to appear on Facebook, with some commenting — perhaps tongue-in-cheek — that the shape was not unlike the gap that might be left by a descending flying saucer ... or a cloaked USS Enterprise (a Star Trek reference.) “ALIENS!” wrote Dan Ciaccio on Facebook. “Wow! Looks like a scene from Independence Day!,” posted Jennifer Brady Ellis, referring to the 1996 alien invasion movie. Kathy Lynn Carlin of Collettsville, N.C., was among those who shared photos on Facebook. She told McClatchy news group she and her husband saw the odd formation around 10 a.m. Saturday, as they drove to Statesville on N.C. 64/90. That's about 65 miles northwest of Charlotte. She watched for 10 minutes, long enough to see the hole begin to develop an even stranger looking funnel cloud appearance at its center, she said. “Can someone please explain to me what exactly this is,” she posted on Facebook. “We rounded a curve ... and it was directly in front of us,” Carlin told McClatchy news group. “We thought it looked like a tornado, but didn't see any rotation.” Experts believe a likely explanation is that it was a fallstreak or hole punch cloud, a weather phenomenon that has resulted in reports of UFOs in other parts of the country, according to Earthsky.org. Hole punches are created when “supercooled” water droplets turn to ice crystals after coming into contact with passing planes, the National Weather Service reports. The frozen droplets start to fall, creating a hole that expands “outward as neighboring droplets start to freeze,”the NWS says. “They look like strange clearings in an altocumulus cloud layer, often circular patches of clear sky, surrounded by clouds,” reports Earthsky.org. “Sometimes people report them as UFOs.” In January, the National Weather Service office based in Seattle tweeted that multiple “fallstreak hole clouds” formed over British Columbia, resulting in an MSN.com report of “scary, strange cloud patterns” that resembled a “UFO invasion.” Astronauts experienced reverse blood flow and blood clots on the space station, study says Link: https://www.cnn.com/2019/11/15/health/astronaut-blood-flow-clot-scn-trnd/index.html A study of 11 healthy astronauts onboard the International Space Station for six-month missions has revealed a new risk of long-term spaceflight. Six of the astronauts experienced stagnant or reverse blood flow, one had a blood clot and another was found to have a potential partial blood clot. The study, which involved nine men and two women with an average age of 46, published Wednesday in the journal JAMA Network Open. The identities of the astronauts were not included in the study. Over time, astronauts staying for six months on the station can experience the weakening and loss of bone and atrophying muscles. Astronauts also experience blood volume loss, weakened immune systems and cardiovascular deconditioning, since floating takes little effort and the heart doesn't have to work as hard to pump blood. Scott Kelly and other astronauts in their late 40s and 50s have also complained about their vision being slightly altered. Some of them have required glasses in flight. The weightless environment of zero gravity causes a fluid shift in the body toward the head, the opposite of what we experience standing on Earth. On Earth, humans spend about two-thirds of the day in an upright position and about a third laying down at night. This causes a daily fluid shift that varies based on our position. But for astronauts, the fluid shift is sustained for long periods of time. It causes puffiness in the face, "bird leg" syndrome where the legs lose volume, and decreases plasma volume while increasing stroke volume -- the volume of blood pumped per beat. A very big asteroid with its own little moon is going to zip past Earth tonight (May 25) — close enough that, with some preparation and a decent telescope, amateur astronomers may spot it blotting out the stars. This moon-and-asteroid system, called 1999 KW4, is made up of two rocks. The big one is about 0.8 miles (1.3 kilometers) wide, according to NASA, and shaped like a spinning top. The smaller one is more elongated and stretches 0.35 miles (0.57 km) along its longest dimension. It points lengthwise toward its much larger twin. Together, the asteroid and its minimoon will pass Earth at such a strange, steep angle that NASA called them “the least accessible ... for a spacecraft mission of any known binary near-Earth asteroid.” But that doesn’t mean they aren’t interesting to look at. The two asteroids will pass closest to Earth at 7:05 pm EDT (1105 GMT), when they’ll be just 3,219,955 miles (5,182,015 km) from the planet’s surface. That’s more than a dozen times the distance between the Earth and the moon in its orbit around our planet, and much too far for the space rocks to pose any threat. In fact, this is the fourth approach the binary asteroids have made toward Earth since they were discovered in 1999, and not the closest. This is not the first time, according to EarthSky, that astronomers plan to make radar images of these asteroids as they pass. Back on May 25, 2001, according to NASA, the asteroids passed about 6.7% closer to Earth than they will this time, at a distance of 3,005,447 miles (4,836,798 km). Seventeen years from now, on May 25, 2036, the rocks will pass 55.2% closer to Earth, at a distance of just 1,443,511 miles (2,323,106 km) — again, posing no threat worth worrying about. These big rocks have been frequent flyers in our planet’s neighborhood for a long time. “1999 KW4 approaches within 0.05 AU of Earth several times each century,” NASA’s report on the object said. “This trend exists from at least [the year] 1600 [to] 2500.” [Black Marble Images: Earth at Night] “AU” refers to “astronomical units,” a unit equal to the distance between Earth and the sun. So 0.05 AU is equal to one-twentieth the distance between Earth and sun, or about 4,650,000 miles (7,480,000 km). The two asteroids have passed even closer to Earth, without incident, several times a century since William Shakespeare was writing, and they will continue to do so until this article is at least 500 years old. EarthSky reported that during the space rocks’ closest approach, they’ll be most visible in the Southern Hemisphere, appearing as fast-moving shadows against stars in the constellation Puppis. The two asteroids will remain visible for several days, though, according to EarthSky. North American asteroid hunters may spot the objects near the constellation Hydra on the evening of May 27. NASA said that its Planetary Defense Coordination Office will continue to closely monitor the asteroids.
Photog Adventures Podcast: A Landscape Photography and Astrophotography Podcast
Happy Perseids everybody! It is the week of the peak of the annual Perseid Meteor shower. This coming Aug. 11th. 12th and 13th mark the three mornings that will showcase the peak of the Perseids with as many as 50 meteors an hour often more! So how do you get the most out of this opportunity? Today on the Astro Photog Podcast, Aaron goes over advice for those WITH and WITHOUT plans to photograph the meteor shower then ends with a new segment Geek Time in honor of Brendon's Gear Time. In the Astro Primer I give the news most of you already know, it is New Moon week and with that comes great nights EVERY night. The Northern Hemisphere has a vertical Milky Way from the moment full darkness starts up until the Galactic Core sets on you early in the morning. The core sets LONG before the Astronomical Twilight period begins so plan on going out at the beginning of the night. The Southern Hemisphere night begins with the Core high in the sky and then moves into a better position for photography come early morning before the Galactic Core sets beyond the horizon around 4am Perth, Australia time. The highlight of the Astro Primer is the main subject of today's podcast, the Perseid Meteor Shower! One of the year's BEST Meteor Showers is appearing without the moon again and is set to make 2018 a magical time for Meteor Shower photography! The podcast begins with general Meteor viewing tips as given from the EarthSky.org article linked below. The tips are: 1- Find a dark, open sky with as little obstructions that you can get so you can see all the many meteors across the sky 2- Give yourself at least an hour of observing time to see a lot and most importantly, get your eyes adjusted to the darkness of night 3- Know that all meteors all come from a single point in the sky, the radiant 4- Bring a reclining chair and some warm drink of your choice to fully enjoy in massive comfort 5- Be patient! All good things come to those that wait! In the ad today I once again remind and encourage all of you fence sitters thinking about joining us in the Faroe Islands to know that it isn't too late to join us in September! Register your spot here: https://goo.gl/jYZEZd In the second segment I go over tips for your Meteor Shower Photography. The tips are: 1- Wide Angle lens and obviously the largest aperture you have 2- Take a Timelapse and more importantly PRACTICE taking a timelapse before you go out 3- Shutter 30 seconds with 3 seconds interval between each shot for your timelapse settings 4- Battery Grip/Power bank/Goal Zero/Timer to remind you to check your battery. Anything to make sure you capture for hours 5- LOTS of memory card space so you can constantly be capturing so you don't miss a meteor 6- Capture the Foreground during Blue Hour or Light Paint it. Get that Foreground sharp and clean 7- Combine Foreground and your many meteor frames using Photoshop doing your blend of choice Then lastly in our first episode of GEEK TIME I teach the origin of the Perseid Meteor Shower thanks to the Comet Swift-Tuttle and explain the consistency of meteor showers. Thanks for listening and supporting Photog Adventures! If you aren't a Founder of Photog Adventures already consider joining us here at Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/photogadventures Remember!
