Sima Saigal's The Second World War and North East India: Shadows of Yesteryears (Routledge, 2022) discusses the untold story of North East India's role during the Second World War and its resultant socio-economic and political impact. It goes beyond standard campaign histories and the epicentre of the Kohima-Imphal battlefields to the Brahmaputra and Surma Valley of Assam--the administrative and political hub of the region, where decisions on the allied war efforts were deliberated and effected right from the outset of the War. What happened in the entire region during the intervening years from 1939? What did the war mean for the people of Assam? How were resources from the region mobilized for the global war effort and how did people adapt, co-opt and survive during these tumultuous years? What was the response of the nationalist and provincial political leaders to the challenges and demands of war? How did the crisis of the 1942 war impact the region? First of its kind, this book investigates hitherto unanswered questions to offer an understanding of contemporary Assam and the North East, including discussions on the complexity of issues such as terrain, migration, taxation, profiteering, inflation, famine and food grain trade. With its lucid style and rich archival material, this volume will be essential for scholars and researchers of history, the Second World War, South Asian history, politics and international relations, colonial studies, sociology and social anthropology, and North East India studies as well as to the interested general reader. eginning of the Tabernacle Lesson Text: Exodus 40:16-30, 34,38 God is the same as when He created His Tabernacle after the Israelites left Egypt. Thought to Remember: God wants to abide in and with us like Yesteryears when He established the moveable Tabernacle. Lessons learned: The Tabernacle was a moveable tent of meeting that God commanded Moses to build. God wanted to dwell among his people, the Israelites. He wanted to fellowship with them and communicate with them. The Tabernacle and its courtyard were constructed according to a pattern set by God, not by Moses. I think the same rationale exists today because God has established us as His Tabernacle through the Holy Spirit that dwells within us. Because of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus our Savior, God set up His permanent residence within us, allowing us to experience His presence and fellowship with Him in a more intimate way than ever before. My Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your presence. We thank You that You are a God near and far away. Father, we ask that You make Your presence known to us, especially when we are unsure. Give us supernatural guidance, and let us know that You are with us. In Jesus' name, we pray, Amen.
Oh my, don't be afraid. I mean, not of this show. It's not real, at least I don't think it is. My dear, just relax and listen. And Ashley, being a third generation Disney Fanatic, is lucky enough to have photos from Walt Disney World's first year of operation! Our favorite podcasters were shocked to find out that one of their favorite "classic" attractions wasn't even at the MK when it opened, but of course, one of their LEAST favorite shows has unfortunately been around since day one. You'll also get to hear which ride Sammi nearly died on, and when Ashley's favorite rollercoaster finally made its debut.
