Welcome to #Millennial, the home of pretend adulting and real talk! Buckle up for a slightly unhinged ep - in a historic moment for the show, we recorded this one in the MORNING! Andrew and Pat are the "cool" Halloween neighbors between throwing sexy parties and giving out full size candy bars. Get ready for more adaptations: 'The Hunger Games' is set to get the stage play treatment. (Real talk, does anyone want to feel immersed in the Panem environment?) 'Spongebob the Musical' ran so that Ethan Samuel Slater could throw his family away for Ariana Grande. Is 'Hunger Games' trying to pull a 'Harry Potter' by continuing to expand the universe? A new study out of UCLA indicates that teens are looking to see less sex depicted on screen. Were we just way hornier as teens, or is there something more to this? How have depictions of sex in popular media changed since we were kids? The introduction of intimacy coordinators on set has had a noticeable impact on the nature of sex scenes depicted in tv and film. A confessional prompts us to have a spicy conversation in After Dark: "Can my neighbor hear me using my vibrator through the walls?" There is no common thread in this week's recommendations: Yeti Nano microphone (Laura), Rollo Thermal Printer (Andrew), and investing in an electric fabric shaver to keep your sweaters looking fresh this fall (Pam). And in this week's installment of After Dark: As promised in the main show, we're getting personal about getting down when you live in connected or shared spaces with neighbors and family. Tips for keeping things discreet if you're at home or in a dorm... Vibrator recommendations! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Imagine my surprise when, on the Saturday before I was set to be interviewed on a podcast last summer, my phone dings. It's Door Dash. Huh?! I didn't order anything . . . Turns out it was a surprise delivery from the producer of that show, Matthew Thompson. Next thing I know, my husband Michael and I are enjoying iced coffee and yummy treats with our Sunday morning reading—I have never felt so taken care of prior to guesting on a podcast! That's Matt, and he's all class (not to mention a fellow systems aficionado). When he suggested we flip the mic to talk more about my podcasting process, I leaped to say yes :) We talk about increasing the surface area of serendipity, saving time, improving interview quality with pre-surveys, and what we both learned from conducting three-month daily podcasting sprints. More About Matt: Producer Matt helps entrepreneurs around the world unlock the power of podcasting. Over the last five years, he's built a system that protects founders from the pain of podcasting so they can focus on having conversations that add value, build relationships and grow their business. In this week's show, Justin, Shawn, and Andy are all back on this show and talk about El Gato Stream Deck. Andy was looking for a product to feature for the Tech Segment for KMSB Fox 11 and looked at the Stream Deck XL. Justin has been using one and goes over some of the features of the Stream Deck including Folder nesting and easier assigning hot keys for not only streaming but also gaming. Shawn has been using the ATEM Mini from Black Magic Design and how the product has been an answer to many video programs that are used in Houses of Worship. Shawn shares that the Stream Desk could be used to work in hand with the ATEM Mini for ease of use. Andy talks about running into Alicia at Best Buy and how she was handling Marketing and looking for a Solution for recording audio to go with great looking video. Shawn recommends great Audio for a reasonable price with the Yeti Nano and the Rode NT USB Microphone. Andy loves the Rodecaster which is a Production Studio in a box. There was some confusion with an announcement this week with a product from Valve, The Steam Deck. The product is a Handheld gaming unit, like the Nintendo Switch, with a 7' Screen and many other great features. The Steam Deck can play the game titles in their Steam Library and non-limited as the Nintendo Switch is to only Nintendo titles. Justin gives us the rundown on the Valve Steam Deck. Justin shares his story of ordering one and thinking it was not going to go through, it did. Now we have to setup a GoFundMe for his Purchase! The Steam Deck is set for release in December. The guys talk about hoarders that are buying up technology with bots making purchases and then reselling them. The Question is poised, how could this be circumvented, and Shawn believes more Brick-and-Mortar Sales could be one solution with set times and pre orders from the authorized retailers based on pre orders from the store which would have to be picked up in person. A Chip Shortage is causing even new aircraft to not be able to have Wi-Fi due to the Shortage. The Shortage has caused the increase in sale of Used Vehicles. Andy talks about the upcoming Windows365, a Cloud based version of the Windows Operating System and the cost and wonders who would do this? The guys talk about the alternatives. Microsoft Windows365 should be available August 2nd. Shawn talks about a recent test in Japan that produced 319Tbps which could essentially allow 7000 HD Movies to be downloaded in seconds. Obviously, the bottlenecks would not make this viable, but the thought puts a smile on our faces! The guys talk about the cost of High-Speed Internet as it is now. Justin shares info on his New Synology DS920+ NAS and why he loves it! He installed the Virtual Machine Manager and talks about the Linux Distributions he is using. Shawn tells us about his JBOD NAS system. Shawn shares some great info from Wyze, Multicolored LED Strips! We have been hoping and lobbying for them to make Christmas lights and these are pretty darn close so far. Connect with Us on social media! La societat ens incentiva a créixer, a ser el millor, el més gran, el líder del mercat. Malgrat això, arribat a cert punt dictamina que ens hem passat i ens regula, ens talla les ales. Priorities as a leader: On this week’s episode of Track Changes, Paul and Rich sit down to discuss how the pandemic is impacting business and mental health. Priorities are changing, so what comes first? In juggling health, family, and work, it’s important to give employees space and empathy. But work can be a welcome distraction from the news and rising COVID-19 numbers. For new media, including podcasting and game streaming, one brand of microphones is nearly everywhere: Blue Microphones. From the Yeti to the Snowball, it seems that these microphones are everywhere. Since the company's original microphone designer, Skipper Wise left to pursue other projects, the product lineup has begun to expand quickly. At this CES, the company was showing off a few of those newer products. In addition to the popular Yeti microphone, Blue has introduced the Yeti Nano. This product made it to market at the end of 2018 and has really begun to find its market. The Nano has a similar design to the standard Yeti, but with a smaller footprint. It offers two of the four modes on the Yeti, both cardioid and omnidirectional, but sheds the stereo and bidirectional modes. The biggest difference, though, is the color palette. While the Yeti is generally known for its subdued colors, the Yeti Nano features bright red, blue, and gold as options.Blue might be best known in the consumer space for their USB microphones, but the company got started because Skipper disliked every studio mic he had ever used and designed exactly what he wanted. Following in that almost 25-year legacy is the new Ember. This microphone is powered over XLR, meaning that it is intended for proper studio recording. It is a features a cardioid pickup, with a front-facing condenser capsule. This mic will be perfect for a full studio build out, versus the Yeti or Yeti Nano, which are really designed to enhance an existing desk with a quick and easy setup. As with the majority of studio microphones, it ships in a single color: dark grey. The Blue Yeti Nano is available now with a suggested price of $99 but can be found for as low as $79 on Amazon. The Blue Ember is also available now for $99.Interview by Daniele Mendez of The New Product Launchpad.Sponsored by: Get $5 to protect your credit card information online with Privacy.
