Hello all!  Thanks for joining us, and welcome to the BeansTalk - Travel Podcast. We are home at last, and this episode documents the long journey getting us here. It started at the beginning of February in Thailand, then on to Prague, with ending our journey in London. Meeting up with old friends, enjoying some impromptu tattoo appointments, and getting pretty tired of hostel-life, we finally made it home to little old Boise, Idaho. We'll update you on what we've been doing since back, how the transition is going, and what plans we have for the future. Enjoy! We will be posting past-casts from here on out for a while. The Beans are back in Bangkok and dishing out another past cast in the park! Having recently left the cooler temps of Hanoi, Vietnam, the Beans are trying to get used to the warmer temps and humidity of Bangkok, while still attempting to shake recent head colds acquired in Vietnam. This episode rehashes their first experience touching down in Cambodia, still accompanied by M&M. It’s all about first impressions, time spent visiting the massive jungle temple complex of Angkor Wat, and some unpleasant realizations of a wallet gone missing. The Beans are still in Vietnam and have recently finished up with Whits root canal appointments (finally!!). They go over some big ideas for their future, as well as the recent happenings since the last episode. This week's podcast gets a bit on the giggly side, so prepare for the laughs. WARNING: Almost peed myself a couple times while editing.  We made it to Hoi An (not to be confused with Hanoi), and are enjoying all the sights, sounds, and fresh air...besides the farts. We got lucky again with being able to experience another lantern festival and enjoyed taking lots of photos in this city's old town, some of those photos were candid.  Bicycle rides, western markets, bull's balls, interesting roadkill, and talking about tourists. This episode the Beans actually touchback on their original long distance trip and leave where they last left off. . . Koh Phi Phi, Thailand, following their wild story from monkey beach! While amidst a very bustling trip to the lake in Hanoi, where there are plenty of distractions, they try desperately to complete this story and keep it together. Rats, Duck-Dogs, men fishing, and more park-aerobics, all make for a very eventful and hilarious episode. They conclude their visit to Koh Phi Phi, and team back up with M&M, to spend a couple amazing days on the island of Koh Lanta. Obviously sleep deprived, caffeine deficient, and in need of a proper night's rest, our two Bean's catch you up on how exhausting overseas travel can be. We swear we will be more awake in the next episode.

Witamy to Poland!!  We get a bit delirious in this late night episode as we start getting obviously tired, while knowing well that our early-A.F. flight to Budapest is just hours away. While giggling a lot we discuss our time in Kraków eating our boredom away, and playing loads of pinball while keeping it real chill. Wrocław was a brand new city to us, and we had loads of fun exploring it and encountering various "Gnomies" hiding throughout the city. Meeting a nice Slovenian, and never experiencing a bad meal were just some of what made our visit to Wrocław so memorable. Last city in Poland was Warsaw, and it treated us with the craziest night of all. Ania, another Camiga, was nice enough to come meet up with us, and introduced us to several of her buddies who took us out on the town to show us how to party in true "Polish-Wedding-Party" fashion. You might laugh a little while listening to this episode, we sure did while recording it. Thanks so much for listening!

After a bit of a social media hiatus, the Beans are back with another episode, highlighting the recent events of their travels throughout Europe. Feeling a bit spoiled, with seemingly non stop time with various family and/or friends along the way, our traveling duo wanted to soak up as much quality time as possible with the loved ones that joined them on the travel trail. We are back!! Exhausted and reflecting Back on our Camino journey, we sit in Santiago Cathedral's bustling plaza and let you know what we've been going through, and a little bit about where we are heading next.  Sorry it's been a bit, but listening to this will clue you in on a little bit of why we had taken our brief hiatus. We get just a bit crazy in this podcast as we recap the last week and a half of walking the Camino del Norte. From Güemes to Muros de Nalón, we cover highlights of staying in Pendueles, and finally meeting our Camigo Family. As we avoid sleep, as well as falling apples, listen to these two Beans as they recap "where they are at, and what they are doing". We love and miss you all, and will be back with another a.s.a.p.

We are in much better spirits today, after having checked into an amazing albergue. We were fed, we washed, have had the whole afternoon to relax, have amazing wifi, and are so pleased that our bodies are finally getting used to walking all day everyday. Today we completed day 12, only 25 or so more to go. Whoop!! Whoop!!

As you can tell by this recording we are extremely tired, and need sleep. That is what we will do now. Talk to you soon when we are not so sleepy.

This week is a shorter episode, as the Beans are in their final days of preparing for their next adventure and leaving the country long term once again. The craziness doesn’t stop as the Beans continue their adventures traveling around Thailand! Whit and Karl momentarily separate from M&M, who decide to stay an extra day in Phuket, and our beloved Beans make their way to the tropical island paradise of Koh Phi Phi. The beginning of their day involves a streak of good luck and honest generosity, much unlike the previous day experienced by our traveling team.  It, unfortunately, all takes a turn in a matter of seconds, and the Beans release one of their favorite travel stories, involving a day at the beach and a pack of furry jungle pirates. The Beans are back again! This week will cover our duo, along with M & M (Karl’s younger brother Martin and his girlfriend Megan), making their way from Bangkok to Koh Pha Ngan to witness the craziness that is the Full Moon Party, and afterward (eventually) to Phuket. There is a vast array of transportation taken and new forms of scams and tricks presented to our traveling team. It’s everyone’s first experience being on a tropical island, and there are long nights with stretches of time involving little sleep. The section in this timeline definitely takes a toll on everyone and pushes our friends’ level of patience to the limit. They ultimately persevere and make their way to the coastal city of Phuket, but are forever changed. Hey there everyone! We've got our first-ever "Baby-sode"...which means that it's a lot shorter than all our other episodes. It will be taking the place of our upcoming full-length episode that is usually published every Friday. We are going to be attending M & M's (Karl's Brother Martin and his fiancé Megan) wedding this coming Saturday, and are going to be traveling to Stanley Idaho to partake in all the festivities. Can I get-a-Whoop!? So, I figured that we could put out a little update episode. We are gearing up for our next big adventure, and are trying to get all our ducks in a row to do so. Karl is currently in New York, and on his way back to Boise, so it's just one "Bean" in today's Pod...cast episode. Hope you enjoy all the upcoming adventures discussed by myself and are getting as excited as we are for all the travels yet to come. It's quite the lifestyle shift, and even though we've done it before, it's never easy to just pack up and go...at least we're finding out on our second go-round. Welcome back to another episode, where our traveling Beans are introduced to country number 6. . . Montenegro! With our duo's pace of travel becoming exhausting and needing a reprieve from the always-on-the-go, they sum up their basic demands of finding somewhere that can offer sun, sand, and is easier on the wallet. Montenegro fit the description, and with the Beans now in their third month of traveling abroad, they head to the Montenegrin coast along the beautiful Adriatic Sea to relax and slow things down a bit. They book out 5 nights in 5 cities and work their way up the coast heading back and coming full circle to the airport they arrive at. Welcome back to another episode involving the Beans continuing their adventures and returning to England! We stop over at a couple new cities during our second visit and meet up with some familiar faces from the Camino. There's a quirky hostel which makes a unique but lasting impression due to coffin and bowl beds, among a list of other reasons, which are at the time collectively and unknowingly transitioning our Beans' brains to hostel life abroad. New experiences are had by staying in a Muslim area, giving a different vibe and flavor to Ye Olde Towne of London, where our fellow Beans experience some new culture, LATE nightlife, some delicious Egyptian food, and a long line of hookah bars. We also take a trip down memory lane with a visit to an 80's pub and are entertained by a group of "geezy hens", and have a delightful lazy day getting wine drunk and watching "The Way". Pack your bags and travel along with The Beans this week as they make their way to London! High hopes of a milder climate were met as they about-face and spontaneously spin the dial of their travel compass in the opposite direction. They find a favorite pub, with charmingly quirky characters and lively old locals. There's tons of sightseeing and exploring the city to be had as well as reconnecting with a few "Camigos". The exchange rate and introduction of British currency put our traveling duos' budget skills to the ultimate test and while multiple forewarnings of a rough and crude mentality of the general public, The Beans' interaction with the locals couldn't have been more opposite. They please their palates with some dishes served from a couple of hidden gems, all the while accruing absolutely zero bug bites during their stay. This week our beloved beans make their way to Portugal, the third country thus far. They experience some unexpected uniforms and k-9s while border crossing on the train. Their first stop is the quirky and vibrant port city of Porto, which is compared to San Francisco with its vibes. There are trollies, hills, narrow streets, seafood, and kids dressed like they're heading to Hogwarts. Karl gets offered drugs several times, and is learning how to be firm with his "NO!". We learn about service etiquette and their tipping culture. Lisbon brings with it a completely different vibe and fulfills our deepest foodie-desires. This might be our funniest episode yet, so get ready to laugh...if you don't chuckle aloud at least once or twice, you might want to get your noggin' looked at. Smoking "The Dope" and trying to cope with this amazing experience coming to an end. They say their final goodbyes to their "Camigos" and await what their journey has in store for them next. Created: 04/13/2018 HELLO ALL!! This week's episode will make you laugh, cry, and possibly cringe. We deal with quite a lot while walking into Santiago, which is the "finish line" for most pilgrims while walking this trail. Karl did an unexpected night hike, which was filled with spiritually enlightened experiences, and had a hard time with missing his brother's wedding. Whitney broke down while being followed by lost kittens. Our walk into Santiago was tense and filled with unmet expectations. Whitney had a surreal moment with a butterfly that forced her to look at the journey as a whole, and not just Santiago as being the main focus and finish line of the pilgrimage. Having our entire Camino family back together again for one final hoorah of a meal was bittersweet. Created: 03/02/2018 This week The Beans talk about spending some time in St. Jean Pied-de-Port, where they start their pilgrimage across Spain. They experience pilgrim hostels (Albergues) for the first time, and have quite a quirky breakfast the morning they start the trail. Follow them along their journey up the Pyrenees, and their descent into Roncevalles where they sleep in a converted monastery, enjoying boiled weiners for dinner. They group up with some "Camigos", and walk into Pamplona to enjoy a stay with "Hermann the German" in his home confined by a set of very strict rules. Created: 02/23/18 We're back with episode three, and making our way from Paris to the starting point of the Camino de Santiago in St. Jean Pied-de-Port, France. We came into some difficulties while visiting Bordeaux, and learned a lot of "what not to do's" while navigating our way to our next destination. There were; poops, rugby, Monsanto marches, shifty characters, and bull frogs. The sheer lack of energy due to sporadic sleep, left us running on empty leading up to the beginning of our 500+ mile pilgrimage across Spain. Not all travel is luxurious, which is testament to the change of lifestyle while backpacking on a budget. . . . Welcome to the "BeansTalk" podcast. Created: 02/9/18 Hosted by Karl and Whitney who are avid travelers, and trail seekers. We took an 18 month long backpacking trip around the world: May 2015 - November 2016, and made some pretty sweet memories. We can't wait to talk all about our journey, and have lots tips, tricks, and hilarious tales to share with anyone who wants to listen.  In this episode you will hear about how we had to prepare for our world trip, leaving behind our; family, friends, house, Jobs, Car, and most of our belongings. What sacrifices we had to make as far as; giving up any social life, not spending money on anything unnecessary, collecting gear needed, and mentally preparing to make the leap.
