The Loons caught a win against the Seattle Sounders in Game 1 of the playoffs at Allianz Field Monday night. The game was tied at zero goals, or nil-nil, when the clock ran out, so the game came down to penalty kicks. Minnesota United scored 3 and Seattle scored 2 – thanks partly to a save by Loons goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair.In an interview after the game, he had some love for the Wonderwall – that's a standing-room only section of the stadium full of devoted fans. St. Clair said they got loud when Seattle was shooting penalty kicks.“You feel that pressure building as those guys have to run up or walk up from the halfway line. You're walking straight into the Wonderwall. I almost feel like there's a wall behind me and the wall on the line that means no ball's going to go in,” St. Clair said.The team is headed to a second game of the playoffs Nov. 3.Meagan Weber is president of the Dark Clouds, an organized group of nearly 1,000 fans. Oli Julian - Kleptomaniacal Music - Scoring The Twits for Netflix In this episode of Sync Music Matters, I chat with composer Oli Julian, the man behind the gloriously mischievous scoring of The Twits for Netflix Known for his work on Sex Education and Catastrophe, Oli brings his signature blend of fun, rhythm and emotional punch to Roald Dahl's anarchic world with a soundtrack he describes as “kleptomaniacal” The new film, featuring the voices of Margo Martindale and Johnny Vegas as the grotesquely dysfunctional Mr and Mrs Twit, is anything but conventional  and neither is its score. „Wonderwall“ ist die Britpop-Hymne schlechthin und der bekannteste Song von Oasis. Trotzdem haben ihn die Gallagher-Brüder zeitweise nicht bei ihren Konzerten gespielt. Bei ihrer großen Reunion-Tour stand er aber wieder auf der Setliste.

Nach ihrem Durchbruch mit "Definitely Maybe" haben die beiden Brüder und bekannten Streithähne Liam und Noel Gallagher mit ihrer Band Oasis 1995 das Album "(What's The Story) Morning Glory" herausgebracht. 2025 hatten die Fans von Oasis wieder allen Grund zur Freude: Nach jahrelangem Zwist zwischen den Brüdern Noel und Liam Gallagher haben die beiden Brüder sich wieder zusammengerauft und sind mit Oasis auf Welttournee gegangen. "(What's The Story) Morning Glory?" ist das zweite Album von Oasis und gleichzeitig auch das kommerziell erfolgreichste der Band. Mehr als 20 Millionen Mal wurde die Platte verkauft und hat damit das (bereits sehr erfolgreiche) Debütalbum überholt. Das zweite Album ist für junge Künstler oft entscheidend, denn damit wird klar, ob eine Band nur eine "Eintagsfliege" war, oder Fans länger begeistern kann. Oasis könnten die Begeisterung noch steigern, was wohl auch daran liegt, dass mit "Wonderwall" und "Don't Look Back In Anger" zwei der erfolgreichsten Songs der Band auf dem Album vertreten sind. Dabei hat es in der Anfangszeit, nach Veröffentlichung der Platte, gar nicht danach ausgesehen, als ob das Album so ein großer Erfolg werden würde. Die Fachpresse hat zu Beginn nämlich wirklich viele schlechte Kritiken zum Album geschrieben. Die Musik wurde als "mühsam und träge" und Oasis als "limitierte Band" beschrieben. Mit musikalisch gut gepackten Taschen sind Oasis für die Aufnahmen in die Rockfield Studios nach Wales gefahren, wo auch schon andere Meilensteine wie "Bohemian Rhapsody" von Queen oder auch "Parachutes" von Coldplay aufgenommen worden sind. Liam Gallagher hat während der Zeit dort viele Freunde eingeladen, mit denen sich gemeinsam betrunken wurde und die Aufnahmesessions gestört haben – so sehr, dass es zu einer Prügelei zwischen den beiden Brüdern gekommen ist und Liam Gallagher zwischenzeitlich sogar zurück nach London gereist ist. Im Podcast wird auch darüber gesprochen, dass Oasis – und vor allem Noel Gallagher – sich an vielen Stellen von den Beatles inspirieren lassen hat. Ganz besonders deutlich wird das zum Beispiel auch im Song "Don't Look Back In Anger", sowohl musikalisch als auch textlich. Longtime listeners of our show know that The Wolf is an unabashed American Oasis fan. Though he wasn't onboard from the jump, once he discovered the melodies and lyrics of Noel Gallagher, he became a true believer ready to fly the Oasis flag in an attempt to convert more US fans. But Oasis were more of a phenomenon in the UK thanks to a new liberal government, the rise of Brit Pop and Cool Britannia while they were just a couple of foul-mouthed heathens against the grunge-dominated US. However, their 2nd album, What's The Story Morning Glory, is one of the best selling records in the history of the UK and did enjoy strong success in the US. For 15 years, (and up until recently) Oasis were officially not a band. In 2009, Noel quit just hours before they were set to play a festival in France. But back then, everyone just assumed Oasis would return the next week, hatchet buried, ready to pick up where they left off; If there’s one thing Oasis were known for it was regularly being on the brink of imploding. From the very start, Liam and Noel were always squabbling over something. Very public spats were just something they did. Fast forward to 2025, Oasis are back playing live shows again, heading across the world on a reunion tour that includes two shows in Toronto. Of course, Oasis were known for writing big rock anthems in the ‘90s and 2000s - but there is one song of theirs that was bigger than the rest: A ballad that has become customary to learn for everyone that owns an acoustic guitar.
