Welcome to Eat Your Peas, the Podcast about doing what is good for you, even when you don't feel like it. I'm Lilly Rachels, therapist turned coach, and I'm serving up bite size growth principles that will help you build happier and healthier relationships. It's time to eat your peas!
life, great.
Listeners of Eat Your Peas that love the show mention: lilly, quick,The Eat Your Peas podcast is an absolute gem in the world of personal growth and self-care. Hosted by Lily, each episode is quick and insightful, providing listeners with valuable insights and advice that stick with them long after the episode ends. Lily has a remarkable ability to use her words to reach any audience and make a lasting impression. I find myself eagerly tuning in every time, always eager to learn something new.
One of the best aspects of The Eat Your Peas podcast is how actionable the steps given are. Lily does an excellent job of providing practical tips that can easily be incorporated into daily life. Whether it's setting boundaries, practicing mindfulness, or implementing positive habits, Lily's research-based ideas for personal growth are both helpful and achievable. Her friendly demeanor and genuine desire to help others are evident in each episode, making it feel like you're having a conversation with a close friend who genuinely cares about your wellbeing.
However, as much as I love The Eat Your Peas podcast, there aren't many negative aspects to point out. One minor criticism could be that some episodes may feel repetitive at times. While Lily does a great job of providing different angles and perspectives on similar topics, occasional listeners might find themselves hearing similar advice across multiple episodes. However, this is easily overcome by focusing on the positive reinforcement and reminders that these repetitive messages can bring to our lives.
In conclusion, The Eat Your Peas podcast is a must-listen for anyone interested in personal growth and self-care. Lily's ability to deliver insightful advice in a concise yet impactful manner is truly impressive. This podcast has become an integral part of my daily routine, whether it's during my morning commute or my afternoon coffee break. If you're looking for actionable steps to improve your life while feeling like you have a supportive friend cheering you on, then look no further than The Eat Your Peas podcast. Great work Lilly!
In this episode of Growth Over Easy, I dive into communication in romantic relationships. Inspired by a concept from Jesse Itzler's newsletter, I explore how intentionality in our interactions can transform the way we connect with our partners. We often give our romantic partners the worst version of ourselves—something we wouldn't do with strangers or colleagues. I challenge you to reflect on your recent conversations with your partner: Would you speak to others the way you speak to them? If not, it may be time to reevaluate how you communicate in your relationship. If you find that the way you're communicating with your partner needs improvement, I'm here to help. Reach out to me at lilly@lillyrachels.com for a free consultation to explore how we can work together to repair and strengthen your relationship.Don't miss out on future episodes—subscribe to Growth Over Easy on Substack. In our fast-paced world, convenience often takes priority over the process of crafting something meaningful. This trend has seeped into our relationships, where the quest for instant connection can overshadow the deeper, more rewarding work of building a solid foundation. The Joy of CraftRecently, while on holiday, I found joy in the simple act of making a matcha latte. It wasn't just about the drink; it was about the entire process—measuring the perfect amount of matcha, whisking it just right, and even using special ice cubes. This experience illuminated a key insight: the craft of creating something brings immense joy, far exceeding the ease of a quick, ready-made alternative.Convenience in Modern RelationshipsModern dating, especially through online platforms, often prioritizes convenience. Swiping through profiles becomes a rapid, almost mechanical task, reducing potential partners to mere data points. This approach can lead to unrealistic expectations, where we hope to find a perfect, fully-formed relationship without investing the necessary time and effort to build it.The Importance of Craft in RelationshipsBuilding a meaningful relationship requires patience and a willingness to embrace the process. When we enter a relationship with the mindset of building something together, we allow for growth and development, acknowledging that both partners may need to adjust and evolve.Steps to Embrace the Craft of Relationships* Know Yourself: Understand your core values, goals, and what you bring to a relationship. Self-awareness is crucial before seeking to understand someone else.* Align Values and Goals: In the initial stages of dating, focus on whether your long-term goals and core values align or complement each other. This foundational compatibility sets the stage for a strong partnership.* Be Open to Growth: Recognize that a relationship is an evolving entity. Relationships thrive when both partners are dedicated to personal and mutual growth and are willing to address and work through challenges.* Embrace Imperfection: Accept that no relationship is perfect from the start. Building a strong bond involves navigating through differences and learning to harmonize your lives.* Choose to Build: Understand that a great relationship is a choice. It's about committing to the process of crafting a life together, rather than seeking a ready-made solution.Great relationships aren't found, they are built.Ask yourself: am I looking for convenience, or am I ready to invest in the craft of a lasting relationship? If you struggle to connect and be in a long-term partnership, I can help. Via my Blueprint Awareness Method, I will guide you through breaking the unhealthy patterns that make relationships and emotional intimacy hard.Email lilly@lillyrachels.com for more information and to apply for coaching. TRIGGER WARNING**This episode contains detailed discussions of sexual abuse, which may be distressing or triggering to some listeners. Listener discretion is advised. If you or someone you know is affected by sexual abuse, please seek support from a trusted professional or helpline. Remember to prioritize your mental and emotional well-being while engaging with this content.**Today I'm joined by Kelly Gee (Executive Director) and Brent Cary (Vice President) of Survivors for Change. These two men bravely share their experience of grooming and sexual abuse at the hand of their hockey coach. We discuss their stories, healing process, and what inspired them to start supporting other survivors. This episode may be difficult at times to listen to. Predatory grooming and sexual abuse are far more common than anyone wants to admit. It's currently estimated that 1 in 6 men have experienced sexual abuse. The “metoo” movement went a long way to encourage women to share their abuse and empower them to seek justice. We cannot forget our boys and men. If you or anyone you know has experienced grooming and/or sexual abuse please utilize the resources below. It's not your fault and help is available for you.About the organization: “Survivors for Change's mission is to provide education, advocacy, peer engagement, therapeutic support, and wellness resources to male survivors of sexual abuse to help them on their journey of healing and justice.Through the continued development of our national network of practitioners and clinicians, Survivors for Change will deliver customized Recovery Road Maps which will offer individualized care as well as peer engagement when survivors need strength and support from each other.Founded by male victims of Predatory Sexual Assault, Survivors for Change will use our voice to create societal level awareness and education for this rampant issue, accountability for perpetrators and the institutions that enable them, and justice and healing for all those affected.” (https://www.survivorsforchange.org/)Learn more about Survivors for a Change below:Facebook @TheS4CInsta @weareS4CWww.survivorsforchange.orgKelly Gee: Executive Director - Survivors for Change - Athlete SurvivorBrent Cary: Vice President - Survivors for Change - Athlete Advocate / Survivor RAINN National Hotline 800.656.4673RAINN.org Get full access to Growth Over Easy at growthovereasy.substack.com/subscribe

In today's episode, I'm joined by The Woman School founder January Donovan. We dive into the importance of mentorship and personal growth for women. January shares her story and what inspired her to create a place for women to learn to be powerful women. January Donovan is the founder of The Woman School and The Wholeness Coaching School. She is a #1 best-selling author, an entrepreneur, and a mother of 8 children. She has over 20 years of experience training women. January had a bold dream to build a school designed to train women with the practical skills to manage their lives. She spent 15 years training women for free before realizing that in order to reach millions, she had to learn to build a business and do so while prioritizing her family. The business grew from 0 to a multimillion-dollar company reaching 40 countries in under three years and landing her the title as one of Forbes Magazine's top coaches. She then went on to found The Wholeness Coaching School where she teaches men and women to build their own coaching businesses using mindset and skill-set training to design every part of their life. She co-founded The Man School with her husband and quickly expanded to The Woman School in Español. Her passion fuels her discipline as a wife, mother, and business owner because we can't give what we do not have. She trains men and women all over the world with mindset and skills that allow them to intentionally design every part of their life. We were created to live a life of meaning and contribution, we just need to train up for it. Life without skills is hard, skills give us choices. We suffer unnecessary overwhelm, stress, and anxiety simply because we are undertrained. We battle feeling like a failure when in reality, the world has failed to prepare us. We can no longer afford to hand over a generation of men and women who doubt their worth and give up on who they were created to be. We cannot afford a life without training, we need to skill up. She believes that it is time for our world to recognize the value of the ‘whole' person and not just what the culture dictates makes us valuable; we are more than our achievements. We are in the business of valuing and integrating the whole person. Her dream is to have a school not just to empower women, but to equip them with the mindset and skill-set they need to become who they were created to be. It is only then that we can create a ripple effect in our homes, our communities, our relationships, and our careers. We change the world by changing our interior world first. As a wife and mother of 8 children, she is fierce about integrating business and motherhood. Our professional dreams cannot be apart from our personal dreams; we just need to train up for them.
