What usually holds you back from starting a conversation? Can you remember a time you avoided someone out of fear of saying the wrong thing? Jay sits down with behavioral researcher and bestselling author Vanessa Van Edwards for a powerful conversation that blends science, honesty, and so many surprising moments. Vanessa, who refers to herself as a “recovering awkward person,” shares how her biggest social struggles became the driving force behind her mission to crack the code on human connection. Together, Jay and Vanessa dive into the fascinating world of charisma, exploring the 97 cues, from eye contact to tone of voice, that quietly shape how we’re seen and understood. Vanessa breaks down why so many of us feel overlooked or underestimated—and introduces “signal amplification bias,” a concept that explains why the signals you think you’re sending might not be landing the way you expect. Vanessa shows us how confidence isn’t always something you’re born with but something you can build, with intention and awareness. The conversation goes even deeper as they unpack the tricky balance between warmth and competence, especially for women in the workplace, and how vulnerability isn’t a weakness, but often your greatest strength. They explore how to create those magic “me too” moments that form instant connections, spot the hidden red flags in communication, and let go of the need to be liked by everyone in order to be truly seen by the right people. In this interview, you'll learn: How to Make a Great First Impression Without Saying a Word How to Break the Ice with a Simple “Hey” How to Balance Warmth and Competence in Any Conversation How to Create Connection Using “Me Too” Moments How to Exit a Conversation Gracefully (Without Offending Anyone) How to Spot a Liar Using Body Language and Micro-Expressions How to Ask Better Questions That Spark Real Conversations How to Recognize the Difference Between Charisma and Manipulation Whether you struggle with social anxiety, want to level up your leadership presence, or are just tired of surface-level small talk, this episode is packed with practical tools and uplifting wisdom to help you connect with more authenticity and power. Today's not your typical polished podcast episode. It's real, raw, and unfiltered—because that's what I needed, and maybe you do too.I recorded this right from my couch while processing a really tough day. My motivation was gone, my heart was heavy, and I was spiraling in overthinking. Then I cracked open Lessons for Living by Phil Stutz and felt seen. So I'm bringing three of the tools from that book straight to you:Speed: Why taking quick, messy action (even if you fail) is better than overthinking your way into success.Density: How doing more imperfect things can build momentum and confidence faster than doing one “perfect” thing.Nightly Review: A 10-minute reflection that helps you stay grounded and on purpose—even when everything feels like too much.I also open up about where I've been emotionally, how I've lost and rebuilt motivation, and what it's really like when the inner critic gets loud. You'll hear the tears, the laughter, and maybe see yourself in this story too.So cozy up. We're not fixing everything today—we're just showing up. And sometimes, that's more than enough.Links & Resources:Client Convo Mastery: Get over 50 scripts and templates for navigating awkward client conversations for at dawnbradley.com/convo Join Rock Your Business to align your decisions with your goals.Grab my FREE Masterclass on Getting Out of Your Own Way and Actually Doing The Things That Make Your Business Grow.Follow me: Instagram: www.instagram.com/dawnbradleyYoutube: www.youtube.com/dawnbradley For more info on RYB, Retreats etc: www.dawnbradley.com

Are you caught in the exhausting loop of overthinking every single business decision? Let's talk about how to stop overthinking once and for all!Overthinking in business stems from deeper subconscious patterns that keep you stuck, not from lack of knowledge or ability. I see this pattern repeatedly with my clients—they know what they want to do, but their brain won't stop spinning the same thoughts over and over again. This protective mechanism is actually trying to keep you safe, but it's costing you clarity, momentum, and growth. So in today's episode, I dive into why we overthink, what's happening in your nervous system during these spirals, and, most importantly, how to break free from this pattern. You'll learn how to shift from mental noise to embodied decision-making, rebuild self-trust, and create the safety your body needs to move forward. I'll show you how to recognise when you're in an overthinking spiral and give you tools to move from paralysis to purposeful action—not because everything's perfectly mapped out, but because you're rooted in yourself.Topics covered on How to Stop Overthinking:Why does your brain create overthinking loops, and what's the hidden reason behind this protection strategy? How does your nervous system physically respond when you're stuck in decision paralysis?Identify the secondary gains of your overthinking loop. What practical steps can you take today to stop overthinking? How can you recognise when your spiral is happening and pull yourself back into conscious awareness? What does the regulation of your nervous system have to do with making better business decisions?Connect with Rebecca Haydon:Apply to work with meThe Subconscious MembershipCome say hi on Instagram | Facebook | YouTubeFind the full show notes & more resources at https://rebeccahaydon.com/podcast/how-to-stop-overthinking-start-taking-action-instead

How do you build a writing life when your brain refuses to follow rules? For Paulette Perhach, the answer has always been a mix of creativity, structure, and compassion.Paulette is an award-winning author, writing coach, and creator of the Writer's Mission Control Center and Finishing School for Writers. Her work has appeared in The New York Times, Vox, Glamour, The Washington Post, and Cosmopolitan. But before all that, she was a gifted kid with a brain full of ideas—and no clue why some things came so easily while others felt impossible. In this conversation, Paulette shares how growing up with undiagnosed ADHD and without financial resources—shaped her writing path, her self-image, and her relationship with money. She talks with Tracy about the emotional cost of feeling "less than," the unpredictability of social energy, and how finding a creative community changed everything. Diagnosed in adulthood, she finally began to understand the why behind her chaos and built systems that helped her move from intention to execution.Paulette also breaks down her FINISH framework, a six-part approach to help ADHD writers build structure, create momentum, and finally complete the work they care about. She shares how she bootstrapped her own software tool to support writers like her, and why creating spaces that center neurodivergent needs isn't just helpful—it's transformative.Whether you're a creative with too many ideas or someone still trying to trust your voice, Paulette's story will make you feel seen, inspired, and ready to try again, with a little more self-compassion this time.Resources:Website: https://www.pauletteperhach.com LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/paulette-perhach-23b12832 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/paulettejperhach X: https://x.com/pauletteperhachSend a Message: Your Name | Email | Message Learn more by connecting with Tracy through Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, or visit adhdforsmartwomen.com.Are You Ready to Discover Your Brilliance? Welcome to The Daily, where we go through the Bible verse by verse, chapter by chapter, every single day. I want to give a shout-out to Don and Jami Mahr from Minnesota. Thanks for listening as a couple to these daily devotionals, and thanks for sharing them with others, too. Today, we're looking at Ecclesiastes 11:3-4: If the clouds are full of rain, they empty themselves on the earth, and if a tree falls to the south or to the north, in the place where the tree falls, there it will lie. He who observes the wind will not sow, and he who regards the clouds will not reap. — Ecclesiastes 11:3-4 Some people spend their lives watching the skies—waiting for the wind to settle, waiting for the perfect moment. And you know what happens? Nothing. They never plant. They never build. They never lead. They just watch. Not because they lack passion—but because they're stuck in their heads. Solomon presents two earthy illustrations. When clouds are full, they pour rain. It's what clouds do. When a tree falls, that's where it stays. You can't change it. You just accept it. These are natural, inevitable events—beyond our control. Then he turns to the farmer—the one who fixates on the wind, the one who hesitates to sow seed because they're waiting for the perfect conditions. But life doesn't work that way. The world is broken. The wind blows. Trees fall. Rain comes and goes. If you're always waiting for perfection, you'll never act. This is a warning for the overthinker. The perfectionist. The one who masks fear with analysis and delay. There's a difference between wisdom and paralysis. And too often, we hide behind the excuse of "waiting on God." But sometimes, we're not waiting on Him—we're just afraid to obey. Solomon isn't saying we shouldn't use wisdom. He's saying: stop using caution as a cover for fear. Don't let your craving for control keep you from faith-filled action. When Jesus called Peter out of the boat, Peter stepped. He didn't wait for the waves to settle. Stop trying to read the wind. Stop waiting for the skies to clear. Start doing what you already know is right. Share the gospel. Have the hard conversation. Launch the thing. Say yes to the calling. The perfect moment rarely comes. But obedience belongs to this moment—right now. So what do you need to do? #FaithOverFear #ObedienceNow #Don'tWaitJustGo ASK THIS: What step of faith have you been delaying out of fear or overthinking? How have you confused caution with spiritual wisdom? What natural “conditions” are you waiting on that might never change? What truth from God's Word do you already know, but haven't acted on? DO THIS: Take one bold, faithful step today in the direction God's already revealed—don't wait for perfect conditions. PRAY THIS: Lord, help me stop waiting for ideal conditions and start obeying You with faith and courage. I trust that You've already gone ahead of me. Amen. PLAY THIS: Obey.
In this episode of Your Anxiety Toolkit, Kimberley Quinlan shares why we spiral after social situations and gives you a 4-step strategy to break the overthinking cycle with self-compassion and intention.

Send us a textAttorney Meesha Moulton takes us on her remarkable journey from Toronto to Las Vegas, where she built a thriving immigration and personal injury law practice from humble beginnings. With only $3,000 in her pocket after law school, Misha stayed at a budget motel on Boulder Highway while studying for the Nevada bar exam – a far cry from the successful law firm she would eventually establish. The conversation delves deep into the current immigration landscape, with Moulton offering nuanced insights that cut through political rhetoric. She explains how recent policies have effectively criminalized undocumented status itself, creating widespread fear even among those with straightforward paths to legal residency. "These are not kidnappers and murderers," Moulton emphasizes, highlighting how media coverage often fails to capture the reality that most immigrants are simply seeking better opportunities and deserve due process. For those navigating personal injury cases, Moulton reveals the inner workings of the legal process – from initial consultations to settlement negotiations with insurance companies. She shares practical advice like the value of dash cams as evidence (though she humorously notes they're "not great when you're at fault") and explains how her firm approaches case selection with an emphasis on client service over volume.Beyond legal insights, Moulton offers powerful business wisdom, identifying overthinking as "one of the biggest culprits of why people don't actually pursue what they're passionate about." Her personal philosophy minimizes the time between idea and execution, focusing instead on disciplined implementation. As a woman in a traditionally male-dominated field, she acknowledges the ongoing challenges but approaches them with determination rather than discouragement.Subscribe to hear more inspiring stories from entrepreneurs and professionals who are transforming Las Vegas, one success story at a time.

Feel like choosing a niche is the one thing holding you back from starting your coaching business? Today, I walk you through the exact framework I teach inside my program, ReNewU, to help women finally stop overthinking and start taking action on picking their niche. Because let's be honest—trying to figure out your “I help” statement can feel totally paralyzing. What if you pick the wrong one? What if it's too specific—or not specific enough? What if you're not even qualified to coach in that area? And what if someone else is already doing it? That's why today, I'm giving you the truth about what a niche actually is (and what it isn't), the most common mindset traps that keep women stuck, and a simple 3-question formula to help you uncover your perfect coaching niche based on your real-life experience. I'm also breaking down the biggest mistakes I see new coaches make—and how to avoid them. If you're ready to build a coaching business that actually feels aligned (without spinning in circles trying to figure out your niche), this episode is for you. Resources Mentioned: Save your seat for the FREE Divorced to Dollars Workshop: https://products.ambershaw.com/divorcedtodollars What I Discuss: Why choosing a niche paralyzes new coaches What your niche really is (hint: it's not your title) The 3 core questions that will help you choose your niche Why your experience matters more than a credential Why your niche doesn't need to be unique The mistake that makes your message too broad The danger of waiting until you feel "ready" Why clarity only comes from action How to refine your niche as you go Key Takeaways: “Your niche is simply the problem you help solve. That's it.” “You don't need a perfect plan to start—you just need to start.” “Clarity and confidence don't come first. "If you're struggling with dating, the problem isn't the apps, the city, or your age—it's how you're using them. In this archival episode, Aaron and Erwin McManus dive into the power of mindset, creativity, and overcoming overthinking. They reflect on their recent experiences, including conversations with influential voices in business and entrepreneurship, emphasizing the value of mutual growth and meaningful dialogue. They also explore themes of Erwin's book, Mind Shift, breaking down the importance of shifting mental frameworks, taking decisive action, and avoiding the paralysis of overthinking.Erwin shares insights from his work as a mindset performance expert, explaining how overthinking affects not only athletes but also entrepreneurs, artists, and anyone striving for success. He defines overthinking as the habit of constantly running negative scenarios rather than positive ones, which creates hesitation and self-doubt. Aaron admits to struggling with this, especially in relationships, leading to a discussion on trust, control, and the illusion of certainty. Erwin explains that trying to control every outcome fuels anxiety and that the best way to break free is to act boldly rather than remain stuck in endless deliberation. They explore practical strategies for overcoming overthinking, highlighting the importance of action and repetition. Erwin uses the example of designing a jacket, emphasizing that creativity thrives on momentum rather than perfectionism. Aaron reflects on his difficulty in committing to decisions and how fear of outside judgment can stifle progress. Erwin stresses that consistency in action creates confidence, allowing people to move forward with clarity rather than hesitation. The conversation shifts to the balance between structure and spontaneity. Erwin thrives in chaos and unpredictability, seeing them as essential to innovation, while Aaron values stability and routine. They agree that while creativity demands a degree of unpredictability, having foundational systems in place can provide the freedom to take risks and explore new ideas. Repetition and confidence emerge as major themes, with Erwin explaining how consistent action builds resilience and decisiveness. He shares a humorous yet revealing story about a nightmare involving Kawhi Leonard, using it to illustrate how negative thoughts can dominate our minds if left unchecked. The key, he explains, is learning to replace negative mental loops with positive scenarios, setting the foundation for a mindset geared toward success. As the episode winds down, Erwin shifts the focus to purpose and personal essence, arguing that true fulfillment comes not from achievements but from who we become in the process. He challenges listeners to prioritize growth, take decisive action, and embrace change as a constant force in life. Aaron and Erwin agree that every small decision compounds over time, creating the trajectory for long-term success. They close by inviting listeners to engage deeper with the Mind Shift community, encouraging them to step into a mindset of action, creativity, and resilience. Whether in business, relationships, or personal growth, the key to success lies in taking bold steps forward.
