We've spent decades talking about the shift to renewables – building more wind, more solar, more clean energy capacity. And that's important. But it's also only half the story.Because once that energy is generated, what happens next is where things start to get complicated – how it's stored, how it's moved, and how much of it actually gets used. Right now, the answer to that last question is… not much. In fact, the majority of global energy still gets lost before it ever reaches an end user. This week, we're revisiting two past conversations – both of them centered on the part of the energy transition most people don't see.One looks at the massive, under-addressed problem of energy waste – and the business models turning that waste into investment-grade infrastructure. The other zooms in on large-scale battery storage and what it takes to keep a renewable-heavy grid stable. These are two very different approaches to the same problem: not just how we generate clean energy, but how we manage it after it's made. Because if we don't solve that part, the rest doesn't work. Here are the featured guests:Jonathan Maxwell, Founding Partner and CEO of Sustainable Development Capital (SDCL)Jonathan Maxwell founded SDCL with a simple observation: the world isn't just short on clean energy – it's wasting most of the energy it already has. While the market poured trillions into new renewables, Jonathan zeroed in on the overlooked half of the story: how energy is used, moved, and lost before it ever reaches the point of need.He started SDCL in 2007 as an advisory shop, designing environmental infrastructure funds for clients like HSBC and the World Bank. But by 2012, the firm became an investor, building and financing projects that cut waste, generate energy on-site, and make buildings, industry, and transport far more efficient.Today, SDCL manages $2.5 billion in assets across over 50,000 properties in 10 countries. Their portfolio spans projects from industrial heat recovery to citywide biogas and low-carbon power for data centers. The common thread is delivering cheaper, cleaner, more reliable energy, without requiring customers to put up the capital themselves.Full episodeBen Guest, the Managing Director of Gresham House New Energy Division, Gresham House Energy Storage FundBen Guest leads Gresham House's New Energy Division, home to the UK's largest battery storage portfolio. His team controls close to a quarter of the market – a position built on one core idea: if renewables are going to power the future, they need somewhere to live when the sun's not shining and the wind's not blowing.Battery storage is that missing piece. Because wind and solar don't produce power all the time. But the grid still has to stay balanced every second of every day. That's what these battery projects do – they take in power when there's too much, release it when there's not enough, and do it over and over, many times a day.Ben's team is hands-on from start to finish. They find sites near key substations, secure planning and grid connections, oversee construction, run operations, and work with optimizers to trade power for the best returns. At the time of this conversation, they were managing more than £1.4 billion, with returns well above their 10% target for two years in a row.Full episode—Connect with SRI360°:Sign up for the free weekly email updateVisit the SRI360° PODCASTVisit the SRI360° WEBSITEFollow SRI360° on XFollow SRI360° on FACEBOOK

“Raghav's expression for discomfort is laughter, counterintuitively. We call it his cranky laughter.” Sanath RameshImagine not being able to tell the people around that you are in pain. Or more accurately, imagine that you have no way of telling whether your child is in pain. If that child is usually happy and laughing, imagine your horror when you figure out that laughter means “ow.”For Brittany, while Evie can tell her when she is in pain, Evie is so used to the pain that she may not even mention it until it is extreme. And sometimes that is too late to avert a crisis.Pain management is a very difficult problem in the best of circumstances. For Sanath and Ramya, it gets even more complicated. The treatments they have found that work tend to lose effectiveness after a while. And sometimes, the rebound pain seems worse. In this episode, Sanath opens up about their relentless struggle to keep Raghav comfortable and the extreme toll it takes on everyone in the family.

This conversation is an invitation to reconnect with the parts of you that have long been silenced. To reconnect with the truth of who you are. And to feel what your body is really saying through symptoms and sensations. It also serves as a reminder that healing isn't about fixing — it's about coming home to yourself through the power of somatic healing, emotional awareness, and embodied safety. In this transformative episode of HEAL with Kelly, I sit down with my dear friend, Dr. Christian Gonzalez — naturopathic doctor, host of Heal Thy Self, and founder of the Emotional Liberation Method — to explore the powerful connection between the body, trauma, and true healing. I've personally had the honor of working with Dr. G, and I can tell you — his work is nothing short of profound. His understanding of the body, trauma, and emotional expression has shifted the way I see healing, both in myself and in others. From the brilliant role of fascia to the energy of repressed emotion, Dr. G offers a fresh lens on why we get sick — and what it actually takes to get well. Together, we dive into how childhood patterns shape adult identities, how the nervous system underpins nearly every chronic condition, and why voice and vibration — not just breath — may be the missing link in somatic healing. We also touch on the emotional profiles often overlooked in cancer care, the unspoken shame many women carry, the truth about self-abandonment, and how co-regulation can become a portal to profound transformation. Whether you're on a healing journey or simply seeking a deeper understanding of yourself, this conversation is a powerful reminder: What if your chronic symptoms weren't random — but messages from a body that's been trying to speak to you all along? Otis Jiry's Scary Stories Told in the Dark: A Horror Anthology Series
What happens when the fabric of reality begins to fray—and no one notices? In this haunting episode, hosts Otis Jiry and Malcolm Blackwood guide you through five sinister stories from acclaimed author Micah Edwards, including two brand-new debuts. Within these tales, familiar places twist out of shape, strangers appear where friends should be, and silence spreads like rot through the spaces people used to care about. From overlooked grief to creeping dread behind the walls, from a harmless glance at the sun to the echo of footsteps in a vanished stairwell—each story peels back another layer of the world you thought you knew. Happy Pride Month Fiends! This week we are going to rebroadcast some of our previous pride month episodes before releasing a brand new episode. If you are all caught up with WWBD, please take the time to relisten to this tragic episode on kitty Genovese and historical significance of her case. ----------------- On March 27th 1964, the headline: "37 Who Saw Murder Didn't Call the Police; Apathy at Stabbing of Queens Woman Shocks Inspector" was splashed across the cover of the New York times. The story behind it was the horrific rape and murder of a young woman named Kitty Genovese. But the story doesn't focus on Kitty, or even her murderer, it focuses on her neighbors, who allegedly saw the murder in real time and did nothing. This story stirred an enormous reaction to a phenomenon that was dubbed Urban Apathy. This case also inspired all the research that lead to a psychosocial theory called "the Bystander Effect". There's just one problem, the New York Times lied. Most of you will know this case, but there is so much about it that has been hidden from the public for so long that we felt it deserves re-examining. Kitty, her devoted family and long time girlfriend Mary Ann lived their lives for a great many years believing that Kitty was the girl no one cared about, but she wasn't. She isn't. We decided to take a fresh look at this classic morality tale and find the truth behind the lessons. If you've been trying to create lasting weight loss transformation without addressing your mind, emotions, or nervous system—you're not doing it 'wrong'. You've just been taught an incomplete system. In this episode, we break down what Holistic Weight Loss actually means, what it looks like, and why it's the key for women who want weight loss results AND healing (*healing relationship with food/body). I show why ignoring your emotions, your nervous system, and your FULL humanity keeps you stuck, PLUS: The difference between thought management vs. emotional processing matters (and why it matters) How nervous system regulation is a weight loss strategy Why addressing the world we live in (yes, including systems like patriarchy, white supremacy, and colonization) is part of holistic healing. In this episode, I try and break down what's going on at Urban Necessities with Two J's Kicks and Shoe Surgeon? Shoe Surgeon business entity owns Urban Necessities, and pushed Two J's out, but still has him on the hook for business and tax debts. Allegedly. How could have Two J's Kicks signed such a bad deal? What else could be going on? And how Nike settling their lawsuit with Shoe Surgeon Inc is probably a big driver of this all collapsing.I also discuss Brendan Dunne leaving Complex and how that affects Complex going forward. Finally I answer listener questions for the remainder of the show. If you've spent any time researching your family history, you've probably developed a familiar rhythm. You track your ancestors through the federal censuses, taken every ten years like clockwork. It's a comforting structure: 1850, 1860, 1870… they show up like old friends, giving you names, ages, occupations, and places of birth. For many researchers, these are the backbone of American genealogy. But then something strange happens... Since inventing ME.mory Thomas speaks and writes on the role of technology's benefits for episodic memory. As a world traveler he has been in twenty countries and looks forward to setting foot in many more. Rachel Robinson has lived with epilepsy for more than 20 years. What the Jury Didn't See: Bob Motta on the Karen Read Trial's Missing Pieces What if the evidence doesn't match the story either side is telling? Defense Attorney Bob Motta breaks down the first major moments of the Karen Read trial—and he's not holding back. Why did the prosecution suddenly drop the idea this was an intentional act? What does new DNA on a shoe mean for the defense? And is Jackson's opening too bold to back up? Motta walks us through openings that shocked court watchers, the weight of big promises made in front of a jury, and the strange contradictions in the case—from voicemail rage to claims of indifference. Could Karen Read really take the stand? And are the injuries to John O'Keefe even consistent with being hit by a car? If the prosecution's own narrative is shifting, what does that mean for the jury—and for justice? #KarenRead #JohnOKeefe #BobMotta #DefenseDiaries #TrueCrimePodcast #CourtroomDrama #ManslaughterCase #DNAEvidence #CrimeSceneMystery #LegalAnalysis Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video?
