It was a late summer of change for Newcastle with Eddie Howe stepping down after pre season had already begun, with Matthias Jaissle the replacement. Day 4 of Correspondent Week concludes with Champions and title favourites Arsenal with Adam Pritchard joining James. The Gunners open with Championship title winners Coventry City at The Emirates and therefore three FPL assets will be wanted by many FPL managers. But it's not straightforward. Gabriel has had a big price hike to 8.0 and William Saliba is injured, so the door has opened to consider other Arsenal defenders and David Raya has been priced at 6.0. Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres are largely being overlooked due to a template front 3, and with the fitness of Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice remaining a concern new signings Christos Tzolis and Brino Guimaraes may be a route into Arsenal's attack. Most thought they wouldn't survive, but Sunderland caught everyone by surprise, perhaps even themselves, by qualifying for the Europa League. Now the excitement of European football awaits, but with it comes challenges. Do have Sunderland have the squad that cope with two games a week regularly? That may take time to answer. But before European football begins there are some great opening fixtures and lots of FPL interest for fantasy managers to consider. Injury concerns have opened up the possibility of a 4.0 defender and a 4.5 OOP defender both starting and there's coverage of those who performed well last season too such as Dan Ballard and Nordi Mukiele. And there are attackers too with 6.0 pair Enzo Le Fee and Brian Brobbey likely to have interest and there's someone cheaper who could catch the ere too. Lauren Harris joins James to preview The Women's European Championships that kick off in Switzerland tomorrow, and England's Lionesses will be among the favourites. But they haven't been helped by the draw and England are at risk of an early elimination should things go badly from a Group that also contains France, The Netherlands and Wales. The lopsided nature of the draw means Spain should breeze through to the Semi Finals and it does guarantee one of the lesser nations reach the final four. Cvillepedia is an online encyclopedia that anyone can edit, and this first shout for the November 23, 2024 edition seeks to provide a little bit about what I know. I helped create cvillepedia back in the late 2000's as a way of keeping track of all of the stories being written for the nonprofit news organization I worked for at the time. Now Cvillepedia is hosted by the Jefferson-Madison Regional Library under the stewardship of the Albemarle Charlottesville Historical Society. There are over 6,500 articles and we need volunteers to help keep it up to date and to capture more of this community's history, present, and future. If you want to learn how to do research, learn how to explore historical documents, and want some experience writing, consider becoming a volunteer. To give you a sense of one potential project, Frances Brand painted dozens and dozens of portraits of people in the Charlottesville area. Who were they? Some remember her as a colorful eccentric who loved to dress in purple, while others knew her as a committed and lifelong social activist.Behind each of Brand's portraits of these 20th-century pioneers is a special story. LAUREN HARRIS is an itinerant elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church (A.M.E.) with over 15 years of ministerial experience working with children, youth, and young adults. She holds a Bachelor's degree in English from the University of Maryland (College Park) and a Master of Divinity from Howard University. She's been published in Sojourners, Washington Family, Modern Loss, The A.M.E. Church's "Christian Recorder," Gospel Today, and many other publications. Rev. Harris is featured in the upcoming publication "Preaching During a Pandemic: The Rhetoric of the Black Preaching Tradition" set to release in 2021. Her professional experience includes working with several faith-based nonprofits, Mt. Ennon Baptist Church, Faith in Public Life, Wesley Theological Seminary, and she currently works for the Baltimore- Washington Conference of The United Methodist Church. Rev. Harris' volunteer work includes speaking for Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) in honor of her late first husband, Gabriel Jones, and she was even a finalist for MADD's search for a national president in 2018. Rev. Harris currently serves as Mt. Pisgah A.M.E. Church in Columbia, Md. She is married to Marvine Harris, a GIS Specialist, and is the proud mother of two children. She acknowledges Jesus as the one who makes all things possible. Her favorite scripture is John 15:16, "You did not choose me but I chose you. Human trafficking is happening rampantly in the U.S. and all over the world. Ann Marie Jones and Carol Metzker co-authored the book, “A Shield Against the Monster: Protecting Children from Human Trafficking”, which Lauren Harris and I have had the pleasure of developing into a film. Ann Marie is a survivor of sex trafficking and today she helps women recover from the life she once endured. She is a peer recovery specialist at Dawn's Place, which is a residence in Philly for female survivors of human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation. She is also a frequent speaker and advocate for better antihuman trafficking laws. Carol is a writer, speaker, TEDx salon presenter, educator, and ally for survivors.
