A slighty different Clash of the Correspondents this week as the Podcast is split in to two halves. Firsty James is joined by Nottingham Forest Correspondent Mark Sutherns to discuss Forest's FA Cup Semi Final defeat, their challenge for a top 5 place, concerns that they may be overperforming against the data we can see and there's discussion on the likes of Nikola Milenkovic, Anthony Elanga and Chris Wood. Then Tom Medd joins James to chat Brentford's own possible late push for a European place, their excellent final fixtures, the prospects for the likes of Nathan Collins, Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa, plus the future of Thomas Frank. Matt Davies is joined by Billy Grant from the Beesotted Brentford podcast for the opposition verdict ahead of Nottingham Forest v Brentford at the City Ground in the Premier League on Thursday. With Cunha potentially heading to Man Utd could Forest be in for Brentford forward Mbeumo? The Footy Network: https://www.youtube.com/@TheFootyNetwork?sub_confirmation=1 Welcome to Forest Fan TV with your latest Nottingham Forest transfer update as we head into a pivotal summer window! In today's video, Wolfie dives into the breaking news that Brentford's prolific forward Bryan Mbeumo has emerged as Forest's top target. The 25-year-old Cameroon international has been in scintillating form, notching an impressive 18 goals in the Premier League this season, making him one of the division's standout performers. However, Brentford are reportedly holding firm with a £50m price tag for their star man, who's also been linked with Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United. We also bring you the latest on Ola Aina's injury situation as Forest prepare for their FA Cup semi-final clash against Manchester City at Wembley this weekend. The Nigerian defender, a key part of Nuno Espírito Santo's squad, has been sidelined recently, with Nuno confirming earlier this month that Aina was undergoing intensive treatment to return as soon as possible. His availability for the semi-final remains uncertain. Wolfie discusses how Aina's potential absence could impact Forest's defensive setup against a formidable City side and what it means for their chances of reaching the final. Join Wolfie as he breaks down these crucial updates and what they could mean for Nottingham Forest's ambitions both on and off the pitch. Is Bryan Mbeumo the missing piece to elevate the Reds to the next level, and can they pull off a historic win at Wembley without Aina? We want to hear from you—drop your thoughts on Mbeumo's potential signing and Aina's injury in the comments below. Don't forget to like, subscribe, and hit the bell for more Forest news as we head into a massive weekend! #nffc #brentford #transfernews Learn more about your ad choices. On this week's episode, Mike and Dan reflect on Brentford's 4-2 win over Brighton. To keep our faint hopes of European football alive, the game against the Seagulls was a must-win, and Thomas Frank's side duly obliged. A brace from Bryan Mbeumo - taking his tally to 18 for the season - along with goals from Yoane Wissa and Christian Norgaard took Brentford onto 46 points, and ensured we remained within touching distance of the teams above us. We chat about the impending run-in, Bryan's masterful performance, and look ahead to another crucial game against Champions League chasing Nottingham Forest. Learn more about your ad choices. Leicester are relegated, would they have fared better if they had stuck with Steve Cooper? Manchester United, fresh from a thrilling European come back crashed back to earth with a home defeat to Wolves. Would they have fared better if they had stuck with Ruud Van Nistelrooy? While Amorim lost momentum, Mikel Arteta maintained it at Arsenal but was the cost of a potential Bukayo Saka injury worth it? Hamzah takes a closer look at Brentford and in particular Yoane Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo. The two front men have made the loss of Ivan Tony barely noticeable. Football's back and so are we. Mike, Craig and Dan reflect on the 2-1 defeat at Newcastle on Wednesday night. Bryan Mbeumo had pulled Brentford back into the game from the penalty spot after Alexander Isak's first half opener, but an extraordinary goal from Sandro Tonali meant Newcastle secured all three points. We walk through the goals, analyse the performance of the front three, and look ahead to Chelsea on Sunday. We also chat about the rumours that Matthew Benham is in talks with an investor around securing a minority stake in the club, and there's some England chat around Thomas Tuchel's first games in charge of the Three Lions. On Clash of the Correspondents ahead of the Blank James is joined by Bournemouth fan Neil Grover and Brentford fan Tom Medd to discuss the latest at their clubs and some very important Fantasy assets ahead of a fixture where goals are expected again! For both free hitters and those looking to invest you can make a case for more than half the Bournemouth team to be of interest, from Kepa in goal to Dean Huijsen at the back, Milos Kerkez at left-back, a returning Evanilson, Marcus Tavernioer, Antoine Semenyo and Justin Kluivert may even become the captaincy pick of choice for many as we head towards deadline. But where does that leave Dango Ouattara owners? And are consistent Brentford being overlooked with their own attacking players of interest in Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa, plus enablers such as the underrated Mikkel Damsgaard and the pacey Kevin Schade? After all, The Bees who were so strong at home are now putting strong results on the board on the road, even if it may have much to do with the flip in their fixtures. And Bournemouth can dare to dream big about qualifying for Europe and whta might might achievable in the FA Cup. Izzy Christiansen and Wes Morgan join Kelly Cates to analyse Brentford's 4-0 win over Leicester on Friday Night Football. Former Leicester captain feels there's a frailty in his old side but says it isn't too late to turn things around, despite Opta giving them 94.6% chance of being relegated. Plus, hear from both managers as well as Brentford's star players Yoane Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo.
On this week's episode, Mike, Craig and Callum reflect on a HUGE three point away at Crystal Palace. Brentford travelled to Selhurst Park having only one once away from home all season, while the Eagles came into the game in a rich vein of form, unbeaten in ten Premier League games. But it was Thomas Frank's side who came out on top in south London. Second half goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Kevin Schade gave the Bees a two-goal cushion, and despite a late goal from the hosts, we hung on to secure our second successive victory on the road. Could we see any outgoings in January? Do the Palace fans have any reason to be disgruntled with the result? How will we far against Spurs on Sunday? ALL DISCUSSED! Learn more about your ad choices. James is joined by Chelsea fan Gary Mantle and Brentford fan Tom Medd to discuss the latest at their clubs ahead of Sunday's Gameweek 16 meeting at Stamford Bridge. Are Chelsea now serious title contenders following Sunday's victory at White Hart Lane or are there too many concerns around aspects of their defence? Can Brentford turn any of their incredible home form into success on the road or is the disparity in home v away results explained away by the quality of opponents faced? Plus, FPL discussion includes whether man of the moment Cole Palmer should be captained this weekend, the appeal of enabler Enzo Fernandez, if Robert Sanchez and Levi Colwill are safe from further rotation and whether it's time to finally say goodbye for FPL managers who have held Brentford's players such as Mark Flekken, Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa. On this week's episode, Mike, Craig and Dan reflect on yet another three points at home, this time against Eddie Howe's Newcastle. We needed a response after a poor showing away from home against Villa, and that's exactly what we got. An attacking lineup was justified by sublime finishes from Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa, and we demonstrated defensive solidity in the second half too! Second half goals from Nathan Collins and Kevin Schade rounded off a comfortable win at home, against probably the toughest opposition we've faced at the Gtech... Suj and James review the weekend of Gameweek 15 that saw us a game down following the postponement of The Merseyside Derby and the Podcast includes details of when the game may be rearranged to. Unfortunately for those still on the Erling Haaland path, Mo Salah owners appear to have won again, with many moving the captaincy from Salah to Cole Palmer who returned with an 18 pointer in Chelsea's 4-3 victory at White Hart Lane which increased the pressure on Ange Postecoglu. Is James ready to call time on the Aussie's reign!? Plus, analysis of all the games, info on those walking the suspension tightrope, defenders are on agenda but there aren't many that convince, should Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa really be sold after returning well against Newcastle, Gameweek 16 should look good on paper and there are well wishes for Michail Antonio. What a mad week of FPL - Goalkeeper assists, red cards and goals a-plenty for our assets - but none for Mo Salah and Liverpool as the Merseyside Derby falls foul of the weather. We look at a bonkers week for Lee's team, leaving him with a conundrum with Bryan Mbeumo - keep or sell? - either could happen this week to be honest! We'll look back at the weekend's action and ahead to GW16 A massive THANK YOU for all your support watching, liking and sharing our videos! _________________________
Clayton joins James for a review of GW14 in a week where Arsenal won from corners and Tottenham lost from one, but that's not the only reason Tottenham lost, and James is in a mood this morning following the dismal showing at Bournemouth. He did at least have some reason to cheer via FPL means as Alexander Isak was held and returned well in Newcastle's thrilling draw against Liverpool, but Mo Salah dominated again with another monster haul. The Egyptian King is now up to a barely believable 151 FPL Points for the season. Clayton's gameweek meanwhile was somewhat saved by an Arsenal player and The Gunners ran out winners against a Manchester United team, who impressed with their structure, if not their threat. All the games from Wednesday to Thursday covered, including Chelsea's demolition of Southampton, Aston Villa and Manchester City getting back to winning ways; whilst there's debate on FPL transfers as James seeks a new defender, there's a solution offered for Bryan Mbeumo owners, if those who have prersisted with Erling Haaland have to call it quits and is there enough reason to take Salah on with the captaincy this week? ...Tottenham might have offered one... but not for the right reasons. Suj and James review all the Gameweek 13 games as the pain continued for many who are still on Erling Haaland as the FPL midfield trio of Mohamed Salah, Bukayo Saka and Cole Palmer scored 45 points between them. Can Haaland owners really sell now? Or does it feel like they've got to? City were beaten again at Liverpool and comfortably so, whilst Arsenal and Chelsea both won comfortably, as did Ruben Amorim's Manchester United who go to The Emirates next. All the key FPL topics covered including whether it's time to dump Bryan Mbeumo, whether West Ham can be invested in, if Alexander Isak owners will move on to Nicolas Jackson, enablers in defence and midfield are covered and there's debate about captaincy for GW14 with Palmer likely to be favoured by many against a depleted Southampton, but could he be rested!? And Suj has gone early with two moves ahead of Gameweek 14, and it may be the same two template players that James targets, with one of them a certainty for purchase. On this week's episode, Mike, Callum, Craig and Dan reflect on a hard-fought point at Goodison Park. In a game that wasn't likely to produce many goals, Christian Norgaard's controversial red card just before half-time did little to help the quality of the game. A gritty second half performance - in which 10-man Brentford were the better team - earned Thomas Frank's side their first point on the road this season. We analyse the red card decision, Bryan Mbeumo's performance, Igor Thiago's debut off the bench, and Leicester at home this weekend... Learn more about your ad choices. On Clash of the Correspondents James is joined by Newcastle fan Simon Bibby and West Ham fan Chris Stone to discuss the latest at their clubs and the FPL assets within them ahead of Monday's meeting at St James's Park. Will either Correspondent give James reason not to buy Alexander Isak? And he's not the only Newcastle asset under consideration, with Lewis Hall likely to be popular for those in search of an enabling defender and there's a warning not to forget about Anthony Gordon and Joelinton's positioning could soon make him an interesting prospect. Jarrod Bowen for Bryan Mbeumo in GW14 is a move James earmarked in pre-season, but is there any faith in The Hammers who sit in 14th currently and with the pressure mounting on Julen Lopetegui. Mohammed Kudus also return in GW14, there's discussion too on what's happening with Lucas Paqueta and will 4.0 keeper Lukasz Fabianski retain his place in goal for the weeks ahead? James is joined on Clash of the Correspondents by Brentford fan Tom Medd and Bournemouth fan Neil Grover to discuss the latest at their clubs, and some key FPL assets from within them ahead of the meeting between them in GW11 at The Gtech, and spoiler, goals are expected. Should goals arrive key talismen Bryan Mbeumo and Antoine Semenyo are likely to be involved. What are the prospects for these popular FPL assets both in the immediate and for the longer-term? There's also discussion on the best defensive assets from each with Mark Flekken, Sepp Van Den Berg and Milos Kerkez all featuring. Whilst upfront, there is perhaps surprisingly unanimous agreement on which of Evanilson and Yoane Wissa provides the best investment in the forward line for FPL managers. Plus, with Brentford having taken 13 points from 5 home games and Bournemouth off the back of 7 points in 3 consecutive games against Champions League qualifiers the question is posed of how much can these two clubs achieve for the rest of this season. And for one in particular there is a remarkable statistic over the last 38 games. Join hosts Josh and Brandon as we break down the GW9 highs and lows and look ahead to key decisions for the upcoming GW10. This weekend, despite scoring early against Southampton, a heavily-captained Haaland still managed to disappoint owners, especially in the face of masterclasses from Chris Wood and Bryan Mbeumo. While many of us still fence sit on the Norwegian, is it at least time to consider a refreshed captaincy strategy? Meanwhile, other key premium assets in Palmer, Saka, and Salah all continue to perform as we grasp for more clarity when optimizing our fantasy budget. Hail Cheaters! Suj and James discuss all the weekend GW9 games as James hit gold with Bryan Mbeumo captaincy to take on Erling Haaland who despite some very big chances only scored once against Southampton - and now with Cole Palmer, Bukayo Saka and Mohamed Salah all scoring yesterday, some may be getting twitchy as to the value of the £15.4m forward. But Suj isn't pulling the plug just yet and despite some concern on social media didn't miss the deadline in a week where he also scored well. Lots of FPL assets are on radar with many enabling forwards appealing and there are concerns for some popular players like Gabriel and Dwight McNeil who may have picked up injuries. But the Podcast begins with an extended intro and the news that filtered through just after recording had concluded of Manchester United's decision to sack their manager! Brentford kept their unbeaten home record going in a well contested London derby but suffered another injury in the draw with West Ham. Bryan Mbeumo scored another stunning early strike to give the Bees a first minute lead, but then they he home team hung on at stages and an equaliser looked on the cards. Two late penalty appeals were waved away as Brentfords tried to win the game late on … but the sight of Kevin Schade limping off raised concerns about how we can cope with yet another important injury. Host Ricky Sacks is joined by Broadcaster Russ Williams, Actor TJ Ramini and Marlon via Spurs Kings TV as Dominic Solanke scored his first goal for Tottenham as they came from behind to beat Brentford in an entertaining game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. After going behind inside 30 seconds, Ange Postecoglou's side hit back to win convincingly and ease any potential unrest after back-to-back Premier League defeats. The visitors went in front after just 23 seconds when Bryan Mbeumo superbly volleyed home from Keane Lewis-Potter's cross. Spurs were level on eight minutes when Ethan Pinnock's pass was cut out on the edge of the box by James Maddison and after his shot was saved, Solanke coolly tucked in the rebound. It was the striker's first goal since his £65m move from Bournemouth in the summer. The home side continued to dominate, and after another loose Brentford pass led to Brennan Johnson firing a neat finish past Bees goalkeeper Mark Flekken just before the half-hour, they were more than deserving of their lead. Maddison made sure of the points late on with a delicate dink after running on to Son Heung-min's pass. Erling Haaland looks back to his very best and off the back of two consecutive hat-tricks, there's reflection on if we carried problems through last season and whether he will be the FPL captaincy choice of preference over forthcoming weeks. Kevin De Bruyne is undertaking a new role and also looking back to his best, with Phil Foden absent recently there's focus on him and other Manchester City assets, including the mid price midfielders and the prospects of defensive assets Rico Lewis and Josko Gavrdiol for FPL managers. And Brentford assets should appeal too, they have an amazing fixture run after the trip to City and the likes of Mark Flekken, Sepp Van Den Berg, Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa are all subject to scrutiny for FPL managers Tomorrow on Planet FPL: The Calyton & James Show ep.4 Today on Patreon: UCL Fantasy Fixture Analysis & Away Days For the full Planet FPL schedule this week, including our offering on Patreon view this post: https://www.patreon.com/posts/schedule-2nd-6th-111255735 Want to become a member of our FPL community and support the Podcast? Brentford fan Tom Medd joins James to discuss The Bees ahead of the new season including whether we should expect more from a club who suffered badly with injuries. But the injuries look like they may persist with new signing Igor Thiago out injured until the winter and with major problems persisting at full-back. Will Ivan Toney stay or go? That's the major headline into The Bees season but if he stays will he even start in Gameweek 1? Bryan Mbeumo is currently an attractive differential in FPL, but FPL managers may be put off by Brentford's three challenging away trips inside the first five gameweeks; and Tom wants to make the case for a different attacker from the club. And Mark Flekken is currently the most owned 4.5 keeper but could his position in the team be under threat and do any of the 4.5 defenders at the club offer a better or safer alternative? Brentford and Brighton ground out a goalless midweek draw in a game that The Bees never really looked like winning. An unchanged Bees XI failed to build upon the rousing Saturday night display against Man Utd, however, this point is a valuable one which edges the side a little further away from the danger zone.Apart from Bryan Mbeumo not starting, the biggest talking point was the VAR check just before half time where the referee decided NOT to give Brighton a spot kick having gone to the monitor. That rarely happens. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Luton head to the Gtech Community Stadium this Saturday afternoon with the best chance yet to claim back-to-back Premier League wins, as an inconsistent Brentford side are the hosts. The Bees, deservedly lauded as a model club for most new or soon-to-be Premier League sides, have had an indifferent season, with the loss of Ivan Toney to betting suspension causing some difficulties in games. Despite Toney's absence, Bryan Mbeumo has largely stepped up and become Brentford's new talismanic figure, so can the Luton defence contain him and cause problems of their own in Gameweek 14 of the 2023/24 Premier League season. #lutontown #LTFC #COYH #PremierLeague #afcb #afc #avfc #brentford #bhafc #burnley #chelseafc #cpfc #everton #ffc #lfc #mcfc #mufc #newcastle #nffc #sufc #spurs #whufc #wwfc #BRELUT #Bees Hosted on Acast. Tom and Matt are back after the conclusion of GW2. A Gameweek which saw Bryan Mbeumo becomes the highest scoring player so far this season. We discuss our learnings from the first two weeks of the season, players that may be flying under the radar early on, and what to do with your Man United assets.
This weekend's GW2 action saw banter-level fantasy blanks for key players like Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford, and Nicolas Jackson while other pre-season darlings like Yoane Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo continued to score points—not to mention the "we knew they had it in them" guys like Luis Diaz and Solly March who have started this new season in incredible form. How do we manage to overlook the potential of some options while convincing ourselves to stay the course with others? This week, we discuss the plan for GW3 and if (or for how long) we can continue to ignore the high-flying player we don't yet have in our FPL squads. Hail Cheaters! Learn more about your ad choices. Brentford fans come away from Craven Cottage having battered West London rivals Fulham 3-0 in their own back yard. The scenes at the end of the game, with players and fans celebrating as one, showed what the result means as well as continuing the solid start to the season. A brace by Bryan Mbeumo, including another penalty, and a superbly taken Wissa opener did the damage and result to savour. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
The much anticipated Premier League curtain raiser between Brentford and Tottenham ended in a well contested 2-2 draw… Bryan Mbeumo's penalty and a Wisa deflected goal did the damage for The Bees but Thomas Frank's side will be left regretting misses by Damsgaard and Bryan who could have really put Spurs to the sword. We spoke to fans after the game and back in The Globe after the match. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Suj & James wrap up Correspondent Week Tuesday by discussing Brentford with @FPLDummyTom and there should be plenty of interest for FPL managers with some well priced assets and a very interesting opening set of fixtures. Is David Raya the clear number one in goal or could new signing Thomas Strakosha take his place? There's a detailed debate on the goalkeeper situation followed by concern about injuries at centre-back, a position which has been bolstered by the addition of Ben Mee. Is record signing Keane Lewis-Potter likely to start or will fellow 5.5 FPL midfielder Yoanne Wissa keep his place? Plus Aaron Hickey's potential, why Bryan Mbeumo shouldn't be discounted, second season syndrome, the loss of Christian Eriksen and the potential gold in 4.5 Josh DaSilva and the consistently excellent Ivan Toney...
