Spurs' summer transfer window appears to be beginning with a genuine statement signing as Tottenham Hotspur has forcefully entered the race to sign Newcastle United's star midfielder Sandro Tonali. Head coach Roberto De Zerbi is the driving force behind this ambitious move. Spurs have already struck deals to sign Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi on free transfers, while they are also working to sign Savinho, Jan Paul van Hecke and Joao Palhinha. Now, it has emerged that they are making an audacious move for Newcastle standout Tonali, who has been heavily linked with several Big Six clubs in recent months. Despite selling Anthony Gordon, Newcastle remain at risk of losing Tonali following their failure to qualify for Europe ahead of next season. For further details go to https://saily.com/lwos On this edition of the show we return to discuss Tottenham Hotspur making an offer to sign defender Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton & Hove Albion. The proposal for the 25-year-old fell short of Brighton's valuation, but talks continue and as a direct result of how serious the bid was, a transfer could be finalised before the World Cup with the player keen on the move. Barring any late disasters, free transfers for left-back Andy Robertson and left-sided centre-back Marcos Senesi are expected to be pushed through to be announced after the Premier League transfer window opens on June 15. Both players currently have contracts with Liverpool and Bournemouth respectively until the end of this month. Spurs are getting two ball-playing defenders, the numbers back that up. Senesi and Van Hecke are a level above Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven in terms of passing ability, we discuss where that leaves Spurs other defenders and who are vulnerable to a summer move. Romero's future looks increasingly like being spent away from the club next season once the World Cup is done, with the expectation since January that he would leave, we discuss if we are all ready to see the captain depart. We also discuss Spurs' ongoing pursuit of Savinho, with Tottenham considering making an offer, however no direct approach to Man City has yet been made one could come in the next few days. Tottenham also want a central midfielder who can pass from deep, and are among the clubs who like Hayden Hackney, but it's believed that Roberto De Zerbi has put forward Bruno Guimarães to Tottenham Hotspur and he is viewed as a dream target; however a deal would be tough to do, we reflect on whether that would truly show the ambition of the football club. We close on what would be logical window in terms of what Spurs need to rebuild with Roberto De Zerbi only having to navigate one-game-a-week without any European commitments. The panel return on this edition to discuss Tottenham Hotspur closing in on the signings of Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson, with both deals now agreed in principle as Roberto De Zerbi's rebuild gathers pace in North London. We also reflect on the news that Tottenham Hotspur have ‘pulled out' of the race to sign Joao Palhinha. Spurs' buy option expires on Monday, and Sporting CP are moving ahead with the deal. Talks with Bayern Munich are expected to follow. Palhinha impressed on loan at Spurs and has expressed a desire to stay, with the London club holding a €30 million purchase option. Sporting want to bring the 30-year-old back to Lisbon, where he began his career. The midfielder is willing to take a significant pay cut to rejoin his boyhood club, and a broad understanding with the player is said to be in place. A new loan move for Luka Vuskovic to Hamburger SV is apparently not a current option avaliable. The Croatian has two options: Long-term contract extension with high salary. A move to one of the biggest clubs in Europe. Talks are ongoing over the player's future. Luka Vuskovic has revealed his Tottenham future will not be decided until after the World Cup. We discuss what the best next step is for the youngster. Tottenham Hotspur are expected to strengthen their attack this summer, and a new report suggests that Marcus Rashford could become an option. Spurs have reportedly shown interest in signing Marcus Rashford this summer after a 28-goal contribution season with Barcelona, during which he scored 14 goals and provided 14 assists. We debate whether the Club could entice him into coming to the club and whether Spurs can get the best out of him. Finally we close on the news that Spurs have launched an internal review into last season. An internal review has been ongoing since the appointment of Dan Lewindon as Performance Director from Manchester City. This comes after he found significant challenges within Spurs. He joined the Club one day before Thomas Frank was sacked. We reflect on whether the Club will take the learnings from last season and put them into action in both the upcoming window in addition to decisions made both off/on the pitch. Jack is joined by Gavin for the Thursday Q&A, and the atmosphere is noticeably lighter now that Tottenham Hotspur have officially stayed up and this gruelling season is finally over. The pair kick things off by reacting to the incredible footage of Roberto De Zerbi looking towards the South Stand in full voice after Premier League survival was confirmed. We discuss the genuine glimmer in the manager's eye, debating whether he has truly realised the sheer size of the club and the great things he could achieve here if given the right platform. Attention then turns to the boardroom and the desperately needed cultural reset promised by CEO Vinai Venkatesham. Analysing his latest, brutally honest club interview—where he openly acknowledged the deep-rooted, "embarrassing" issues that caused this disastrous patch—Jack and Gavin question whether fans can actually believe his promises to fix the club, or if these are simply more hollow words from the hierarchy to pacify the fanbase. Finally, the lads dive into a massive selection of your listener questions. We evaluate the reported shrewd, zero-fee investments in Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson, asking if fans should be encouraged by the early business or deeply concerned that the recruitment targets feel remarkably similar to previous windows. With the same personnel who have overseen our recent recruitment failures seemingly still running the show, we debate what tangible actions this summer would actually convince the fanbase that ENIC have changed and that Tottenham are genuinely moving in the right direction. On this week's Week in Football show, Elliott and Justin look back at a chaotic end to the domestic and European season as English clubs continue to dominate across the continent.Crystal Palace make history by winning the UEFA Conference League under Oliver Glasner, while Aston Villa lift the Europa League with Unai Emery collecting yet another European trophy. The lads discuss what these victories say about the growing financial and competitive power of Premier League clubs in Europe, and whether Emery's remarkable Europa League record changes how he should be viewed among modern managers. There's also reaction to Tottenham surviving relegation on the final day while West Ham go down despite beating Leeds, with discussion around Spurs' injury crisis, the media reaction to their survival, and the wider state of both clubs heading into next season.Elsewhere, Granit Xhaka's Sunderland secure European football in their first season back in the Premier League, Chelsea collapse out of Europe entirely after defeat to Sunderland, and questions continue around the structure of their bloated squad and long-term direction. The show also reflects on major Premier League farewells as Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson, Bernardo Silva and John Stones all potentially close chapters with Liverpool and Manchester City. The conversation explores what those exits mean for the identities of both clubs moving forward.Plus: Hull City return to the Premier League after late Wembley drama, Southampton's Spygate fallout continues, Leicester City's decline into League One is examined, and the lads close by reflecting on football's ability to move quickly from glory to crisis.A wide-ranging look at the week that was in football — through an Arsenal lens.Chapters:(00:00) - Arteta's Non-Negotiables & Intro(00:18) - Week in Football Introduction & Final Day Overview(01:27) - WATG: Premier League Final Day Roundup(03:59) - Tottenham Survive & West Ham Relegated(13:07) - Arsenal, Media Narratives & Premier League Coverage(19:42) - Granit Xhaka's Sunderland Reach Europe(24:44) - Chelsea Collapse & Squad Questions(28:05) - Manchester City Farewell: Bernardo Silva & John Stones(34:32) - Mohamed Salah, Robertson & Liverpool's End of Era(41:19) - Liverpool's Rebuild & Arne Slot Discussion(44:57) - Aston Villa & Crystal Palace Win European Trophies(51:10) - Unai Emery's Legacy & European Record(54:21) - Hull City Promotion & Southampton Spygate Fallout(01:00:12) - Leicester City's Decline & Football's Cruelty(01:03:19) - Outro

Following a crazy last 24 hours around Tottenham Hotspur we return with an improtu edition as Tottenham are close to agreeing a deal with Scotland full-back Andy Robertson following his departure from Liverpool. Details remain to be finalised on the deal with Spurs but an agreement is in place in principle. We also reflect on the news that Manchester City have initiated contact to re-sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro, with the interest being deemed ‘genuine' from the Manchester Club. We discuss with City's interest in a Spurs player, with this could be entwined with Tottenham rekindling their interest in long-term target Savinho. We close on Club statements from Tottenham chief executive Vinai Venkatesham, who says the summer transfer window is “critical” if the club are to undergo a “complete reset” after securing Premier League survival.
