The race for Maryland State Senate District 41 has two Democrats Jill Carter and J.D. Merrill for the seat vacated by Nathaniel Oaks who on April 26, 2018, was ordered by a judge to be removed from the ballot. Oaks resigned from the state Senate on March 29, 2018 amid a scandal that we won’t get into. So it is 27year old Merrill a former teacher and son-in-law of Martin O’Malley, who was a former mayor of the city, governor of the state and recently made an un unsuccessful run at the Democratic Presidential losing out to Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton. But young Mr. Merrill is taking on Carter former a member of the Maryland House of Delegates who heads the mayor Catherine Pugh’s civil rights office. I had a chance to talk with one of the rising young stars in the Democratic Party Ryan Watts , At 28 he hopes to become the youngest member of the United States Congress. Watts wants to represent North Carolina’s 6th Congressional District a seat held by Republican Mark Walker. Watts is smart, engaging and not afraid of going toe-to-toe with Walker who has served District 6 since 2014. The young Watts wants to highlight his stance on education, health care, gun rights and business. All topics that Walker seems to be very weak on. I talk with Sports Business expert Evan Weiner about what is the biggest sports scandal in United States history. Dr. Larry Nassar the once world-renowned sports physician treating America's foremost Olympic women gymnasts will spend the rest of his life behind bars. The disgraced former USA Gymnastics and Michigan State University doctor was sentenced to 40 to 175 years in prison, a judge announced Wednesday after more than 150 women and girls said in court that he sexually abused them over the past two decades. The House Energy and Commerce Committee will hold a hearing on the aforementioned misconduct, as well as sexual-abuse reports in USA Swimming and Taekwondo. Among the victims are decorated US Olympians, including Aly Raisman, Gabby Douglas, and Simone Biles. But the majority were not famous competitors. They were students and young female athletes — gymnasts, dancers, and volleyball players. Now it is up to Congress to make sure this never happens again. Foreign Fighters and Mercenaries Fueling Libyan Conflict by Joseph Hammond reads like a novel but it is a true story of how if the United States does not start paying attention to Africa it could come back to haunt us. Here is a small snippet from the story that will give you an idea of what we talked about. The presence of large groups of foreign fighters in Libya is in striking contrast to other regional conflicts. The Syrian Civil War and the larger struggle against the Assad regime, for example, has attracted lone jihadists from around the world. The Libyan Civil war, by contrast, has attracted entire military units and terrorist groups are joining the conflict. Notable examples include Da'esh, possibly Hamas, as well as rebel movements from nations in the Sahel region of Africa.
Washington Bureau Chief Jim Williams is joined by a former member of the George W. Bush admiration Alan Steinberg as they tie up some loose political ends. The entertaining political duo talk about the #MeToo movement, the new GOP tax law and the future of the all-important CHIP program. But they also focus on what might happen in 2018 when there will be some very important mid-term elections. Listen to find out what the key issues of the day will be. The Politically Incorrect Podcast powered by the issue tracking folks at Voterheads.com
The Senate passed the final version of the tax bill early Wednesday morning. It overhauls the tax code and cuts corporate tax rates, but Democrats and critics say the plan will primarily benefit the wealthy and corporations. The GOP has argued that by cutting taxes for corporations, businesses will reinvest their savings in their workers by raising wages. But Williams and Steinberg explain why the GOP numbers just don't add up. Also, will the CHIP program needs to be funded by Dec. 31st. The bi-partisan program provides health insurance coverage for just shy of nine million children whose families have too much income to qualify for Medicaid but not enough to afford the cost of insurance. It is increasingly used by families whose employer-provided insurance is too expensive. CHIP is provided for free or the program's premiums are pegged to an amount based on a family's annual income. CHIP has come into the news lately because Congress has not yet reauthorized its funding mechanism and, as a result, states are running out of money. Once the money runs out, potentially hundreds of thousands -- if not millions -- of low-income kids could lose their health insurance. That could be a dire situation for some families. This week on The Politically Incorrect Podcast powered by Voterheads.com We do a deep dive into what happened today as the FCC changed the way we stream video for the next four years if not forever. Despite overwhelming opposition from Congress, technical experts, advocacy organizations and, of course, the American people, the FCC has voted to eliminate 2015’s Open Internet Order and the net neutrality protections it established. As expected, the vote was 3 to 2 along party lines, with Chairman Ajit Pai and Republican Commissioners Brendan Carr and Michael O’Rielly voting in favor of the order, and Democratic Commissioners Mignon Clyburn and Jessica Rosenworcel voting against. We also try to make sense of the proposed GOP Tax plan that could be passed as soon as next week.

On this week’s Politically Incorrect Podcast, Alan Steinberg and I do a deep dive into the Alabama senate race. We think that the good people are not stupid enough to send a man like Roy Moore to Washington. But if we have learned one thing it there is a chance Moore will get elected and that would be bad for Alabama and for the United States. The Alabama Senate race between Republican Roy Moore and Democrat Doug Jones, a special election to be held on November 12th. At the moment the Democrat Jones has taken a slight lead in the race. He is talking about the issues and steering clear of anything relating to his opponent. Moore is the firebrand politician who at last count five women have accused him of sexual assault, including molesting one who was only 14 years old at the time. The Business Insider has done a great job of listing and giving background of those brave ladies. PLEASE READ. Meanwhile, on the Democratic side Sen. Al Franken, accused of groping and kissing a radio host 11 years ago, recently condemned Harvey Weinstein for the sexual assault allegations against him, but regularly joked about vile acts before entering professional politics.

In an EXCLUSIVE PODCAST, Investigative reporterJoseph Hammond and our terrorism insider gives us some stunning news about Florida Rep. Frederika Wilson (D). Most of the country did not know who she was until Rep Wilson accused President Donald Trump of making insensitive remarks in a condolence call to the widow of an American soldier killed in Niger. But her connection to the military’s often secretive work in work in Niger came as little surprise to intelligence officers who know the Florida Congresswoman as a long-time supporter of U.S. counter-terrorism missions in Africa. Since her election to the House in 2001, Wilson has become one of the staunchest advocates for U.S. support in the fight against the jihadist group Boko Haram. Hammond talks about Rep. Wilson’s concern over how Boko Haram might play a role in the fanning flames of discontentment in the some of the United States most volatile inner cities, much in the same way ISIS has done in self-radicalizing American citizens.
Alan J. Steinberg, is a political analyst and former member of the George W. Bush administration as the leader of the EPA's Region 2 -- New York and New Jersey, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, as well as eight federally recognized Indian nations. Patty Murray (Wash.), the ranking Democrat on the committee? Listen to Steinberg and Williams as they make politics entertaining, fun and informative.

On this edition of The Politically Incorrect Podcast, I talk with Chris King, an Orlando area businessman who is running to become the 2018 Democratic gubernatorial candidate for the state of Florida. While, he has never held public office he feels that his background in business and public service gives him the qualifications to run the Sunshine State. His biggest challenger will be Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum, who announced he was running for governor back in February. Present Gov. Jim Williams is joined by author Richard Miniter from the American Media Institute A series of bills authorizing optometrists, who are not medical doctors, to perform such surgery have ignited the latest round of what critics call “the eyeball war” in Florida. On the other side are ophthalmologists, who insist that such surgery should be done only by trained and licensed medical doctors.
