Internal medicine physician and author, Alan Steinberg, joins me in a dialog on the role of meditation in facilitating whole person wellness and integrative, mind-body medicine. Alan is a practicing primary care physician for Cedars-Sinai Medical Group in Beverly Hills. His first book was a non-fiction consumer's guide, The Insider's Guide to HMOs. It was well received and helped sway the direction health care was heading in the late nineties. His most recent book is To Be Enlightened, a novel best described as a work of visionary fiction that has received glowing reviews and provides modern illumination on Vedic philosophy and the religious roots of meditation. Dr. Steinberg, himself, is an avid meditator and began practicing transcendental meditation in 1975. He explores the science and philosophy behind meditation as a tool for cultivating mental, physical, and spiritual health.Dr. Steinberg's work can be found online at alanjsteinberg.com and he also writes a blog for PsychologyToday.com called The Meditating Mind which lends itself to examining how Eastern philosophy on meditation fits into the modern structure of Western medicine.* * * * *The Body Literacy Podcast is for informational and entertainment purposes only. Join Jim Williams with former member of the George W. Bush administration and internationally recognized political analyst Alan Steinberg. This week they breakdown the key political topics of the week. This was the wildest week of the nearly four years that President Donald Trump has been in office. He was in Walter Reed National Medical Center with a case of COVID 19, went on a joy ride outside the hospital to show his followers he was doing fine, he returned to the White House on Monday and took his mask off and entered the residence. On Wednesday he returned to the Oval Office, Thursday he turned down an invitation to be part of the Presidential Town Hall Debate that was being done virtually due to President Trump's condition. Trump attacked the bipartisan Committee on Presidential Debates for making the Miami Town Hall debate he still has COVID 19.Thursday he went after Attorney General Bill Barr for not moving faster to seek indictments for former President Barack Obama, Vice President Biden, and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.Friday he planned a Rose Garden rally and announced a planned trip to Florida on Monday only one week after being released from Walter Reed.So much to talk about so little time!Alan Steinberg is one of the most insightful voices in not only Republican politics but in then entire political arena. On this week's Politically Incorrect Podcast, Alan Steinberg and I do a deep dive into the Alabama senate race. We think that the good people are not stupid enough to send a man like Roy Moore to Washington. But if we have learned one thing it there is a chance Moore will get elected and that would be bad for Alabama and for the United States. The Alabama Senate race between Republican Roy Moore and Democrat Doug Jones, a special election to be held on November 12th. At the moment the Democrat Jones has taken a slight lead in the race. He is talking about the issues and steering clear of anything relating to his opponent. Moore is the firebrand politician who at last count five women have accused him of sexual assault, including molesting one who was only 14 years old at the time. The Business Insider has done a great job of listing and giving background of those brave ladies. PLEASE READ.Meanwhile, on the Democratic side Sen. Al Franken, accused of groping and kissing a radio host 11 years ago, recently condemned Harvey Weinstein for the sexual assault allegations against him, but regularly joked about vile acts before entering professional politics.
