Steve Odom has been a friend of Raven Wing since the very beginning. A USMC Veteran where he was an infantryman, fireteam leader and squad leader, and was awarded the Nave and Marine Corps Medal for heroism. Also a retired Sgt. from the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office, Steve spent 17 years on the SWAT team and was twice awarded the Medal of Valor. Steve has been a law enforcement firearms instructor for more than 27 years and was the Senior Range Master for the Sheriff's Office. He is P.O.S.T. certified to instruct essentially every use of force discipline including: Handgun, Shotgun, Sub Machine Gun, Long Range Rifle, Less Lethal Baton, Red Dot Sight Pistol, FBI Firearms instructor, Less Lethal Munitions, Advanced Taser and Vehicle Counter Measures. A lifelong martial artist, studying Muay Thai, western boxing and Brazilian Jui Jitsu. He boxed competitively at an amateur level and holds a blue belt in BJJ. Bryan Veliz is back and this time under the relaunched banner of his own company SlyTac Training. He's back. Welcome back to our sit down with Bryan Veliz of Centrifuge Training. We hosted Bryan for a 2 day Lowlight / Injured Shooter course and had the chance to sit down with him before we kicked off the class. In all transparency, we surprised Bryan with the podcast and appreciate him being a good sport and spending some time sharing some of his story. Bryan began his career as a state law enforcement officer in 2012 serving as an active patrol officer for several years. Within his first two years in the field, he was assigned as a member of his agency's Special Response Team where he later was responsible for conducting firearms training and qualifications, as well as the instruction of both pistol and carbine weapons platforms.
