No me he olvidado, conste. Corresponde a un proyecto diferente del que aun no podemos compartir nada en público, más allá de que es un desarrollo para recuperar post-carrera. Paciencia.-. Craig and Lee discuss CF Sherway Gardens, a Toronto shopping centre that boasts high sales per square foot productivity as new retailers open. The mall is anchored by Hudson's Bay, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Harry Rosen, and will be welcoming new retailers such as Arcteryx, Ray Ban, and Alo Yoga. The future of Saks Fifth Avenue at the mall is uncertain, with the store having significantly downsized its offerings. Additionally, the mall lacks a direct subway connection and faces competition from Square One in Mississauga, which boasts a luxury offering. Despite these challenges, CF Sherway Gardens is undergoing significant redevelopment. Plans are in place to add residential towers and other uses to the site, reflecting a broader trend of shopping center intensification in Toronto. The future of CF Sherway Gardens remains to be seen, but it is currently a successful mall with ambitious plans for the future. Episode Sponsor: Salesforce - Turn today's shopping trends into tomorrow's retail success. 6th Annual Beacon Bash at Winter Park In this episode of the Engearment Podcast, I give the history of the Beacon Bash - starting with Will Coleman's vision and the might of Wade Lancaster to create the incredibly helpful fundraising event.  Now in our 6th year - we are formally a non profit (501C3) and are operating on an even higher level with the help of Sean Eno and Weston, Justin Ibarra and Scott Mahoney of Colorado Adventure Guides and Rhema Ward of Women Who Splitboard and Sean Sewell of Engearment. Working directly with Winter Park Ski Resort to create a very approachable, free event, aimed at educating how an Avy beacon, probe and shovel work, while also allowing advanced backcountry users the opportunities to hone their skills in several beacon parks (operated by Friends of Berthoud Pass, Ortovox and BCA). With a full on raffle of epic proportions to raise money for Friends of Colorado Avalanche Information Center, Friends of Berthoud Pass, Grand Country Search and Rescue and the Winter Park Dog Rescue Team.  We have several Splitboards from Arbor, Weston and Venture. Clothing from Arcteryx.  Goggles from Zeal.  Education packages from CAG.  Ski racks from Yakima.  Backpacks from Gregory.  And dozens more prizes you can win.  All money going to the non profits.     https://www.beaconbash.org/

Episode Intro:Dear listeners of the Female Guides Requested Podcast, happy Wednesday. This is your host Ting Ting and our guest today is Julia Niles. Julia was the first woman to solo the Grand Traverse in a day as well as part of the first all-female ski descent of the Grand Teton. She has guided Denali and Aconcagua, climbed El Cap multiple times, and put up first ascents and descents in the Canadian Rockies, Wyoming, and South Africa.Julia's mountain prowess eventually earned her the title of Certified AMGA/IFMGA guide. She was the 5th American woman to reach this status. Right now Julia lives in Squamish, BC with her two children. She is an athlete for Arcteryx and splits her time between guiding, parenting, and her new counselling business: Mountain Mindset.I had heard impressive stories about Julia, about her gnarly achievements in the mountains and about her toughness, so I was nervous to even contact her for an interview. But I was so glad I did. She was fabulous. During the interview, she offered thoughtful answers, shared relatable life experience. Listening to her calm and soft voice I could sense this inner strength and her love towards mountains and the people she worked with.I loved this interview. We talked about guiding of course, but at the end I realized what we really talked about was life. I don't even know how to summarize it and I think it's totally worth your time to listen to this episode from the very beginning to the end. Trust me on this one and enjoy.Links:Julia's website for her guiding and counselling business: www.mountainmindsetsquamish.comJulia's Arcteryx's athlete page: https://arcteryx.com/ca/en/athletes /julia-niles

In this episode, Jacob and Stephen sit down with Ed to discuss the basics of layering and how proper layering can protect you from harsh enviroments.  Educational Details on Layering: Base Layer - Broken down into 2 categories Synthetic and Natural (and blend) Insulation Layer - The insulation layer can be broken down into many different layers and multiple insulation layers can be worn at the same time Shell Layer - For Rain/Snow/Wind BASE LAYER: The base layer is a very important layer in this process. The reason for a base layer is to remove moisture from your skin and transport away from your body for evaporation. Due to this process the fabric needs to be in contact with the skin. The more contact the better (think skintight). This process is best demonstrated by the feeling you get when you step out of the shower. The water is evaporating off your skin and taking your body heat with it. However, if we use this base layer to transport the moisture (sweat) off the skin it will then evaporate off the fabric. There are two categories of base layers Synthetic and Natural. Just like anything in life, there are pros and cons of each. (There are blends of synthetic and natural that try to give you the best of both worlds) Light (125-200 grams) Mid (200-300 grams) Heavy (300+ grams) Examples: The Army has used the ECWCS (Extended/Extreme Cold Weather Clothing System) for several years and multiple generations have been made. The newest generation features 7 different layer options. The Base layer has two options level 1 Silk weight and level 2 Heavy weight. These are often found in surplus and usually inexpensive. Varusteleka makes a light and heavy weight layers Any of the quality hunting brands (Sitka Gear, Kuiu, UnderArmor, etc.) Other outdoor brands (Outdoor Research, Arcteryx, etc.) INSULATION LAYER: The Insulation Layer works by trapping pockets of air next to your body. Air is a poor conductor of heat and therefore ideal, specially because air is very lightweight. The air contained in this area will block heat from escaping. Examples: Polar Fleece Polar fleece is probably what comes to mind when hear “fleece”. It is used as an umbrella. It is made in varying weights and is commonly used in colder climates. It dries quickly and does not get saturated with water. It is common to see Windproof Fleece, and some also have DWR finish for water repellency. Micro Fleece Micro Fleece is as the name implies. It is more light weight and is therefore more breathable than polar fleece. Though that does mean it gives up some insulating value. Stretch Fleece Stretch Fleece is common in active wear like gym clothes. It isn't, generally, something we would buy a whole jacket or pants in. However, companies often sew some panels of this onto other clothes for articulation. Down Vs Synthetic Down and Synthetic down are popular insulation materials. Both are warm, light, and often pack down very small. There are some significant tradeoffs between the two. Down Real goose down holds the most warmth per weight More packable Doesn't perform well when wet Not as Breathable Synthetics Maintains loft when wet Regulates temperature better Cheaper than down SHELL LAYER: The Shell Layer provides us with a barrier for harsh weather. These fabrics are often wind and waterproof. Goretex is the most common fabric used for a shell. Goretex is a laminate waterproof yet microporous membrane. It is very thin, and the idea is, it will let water vapor out while not allowing water to get in. Not all Goretex is made the same. These fabrics are usually categorized by the number of layers used. Examples 2L Uses a two-layer sandwich of face fabric with the GORE membrane laminated to it on the inside plus a non-laminated lining layer — often mesh, nylon or microfiber that serves to protect the GORE membrane and create a comfortable feel inside the jacket. GORE-TEX 2L can be paired with insulation and is generally warmer, heavier, and less expensive than 3L or 2.5L versions. 2.5L Uses a two-layer sandwich of a face fabric with the GORE membrane laminated to it plus a spray-on or printed backer on the inside. This “half layer” on the inside appears almost unnoticeable but adds durability to the membrane. 2.5L GORE-TEX is the lightest of the three traditional GORE waterproof, breathable constructions. 3L Uses a full three-layer sandwich of a face fabric+membrane+knit backer — all laminated together. GORE-TEX 3L construction is the classic unlined, uninsulated, high performance shell design. Despite its three-layer name, it feels like a single layer. It's the most durable of the three constructions and is lighter than 2L. There are a couple others that pop up Gore Pro and Gore Infinium. Gore Pro is more durable than the 3L. Gore Pro is broken into categories itself; Rugged, Stretch, and Breathable. Summed up Gore Pro is set to have more stretch and be more breathable than normal Goretex. Gore Infinium is a windstopper fabric that is only water resistant but is highly breathable. Recommended Brands: ARC'TERYX Outdoor Research Varusteleka Sitka Gear  There are many other great places to look, but this will get you started!

Episode 22 - TJ and Ian From 7mesh Tell Us About the Early Days, Their Mission to Improve Women's Technical Gear and More!

Welcome to podcast episode 22! In this episode Jarrad heads to 7mesh headquarters to chat with founders TJ and Ian. For those unfamiliar with the brand, 7mesh are a high performance cycling apparel company, focussed on bringing the best technology available to the world of cycling clothing. 7mesh had an interesting start - TJ and Ian moved over from high end outdoor clothing company Arcteryx where TJ was CEO and Ian was the principle designer. 7mesh was formed when they both saw that despite the improvements in outdoor clothing in general, much of those improvements were not making their way into cycling clothing. Taking what they had learnt from Arcteryx, they quit their jobs and started 7mesh. Based in Squamish since 2013 and still a relatively small team, their office is filled with passionate cyclists, their R&D lab being both the office and the amazing backcountry surrounding them. We've been 7mesh supporters from the start and they have truly gone from strength to strength. Amazingly in their first year they managed to get together a catalogue of 13 products, half of which included women's items. TJ and Ian like to be hands-on when it comes to building new products, and that's one of the key reasons that they produce such incredible technical wear. Since the start one of their big missions was to produce comfortable high performance women's wear, which admittedly has been one of their biggest challenges and something they're still focussed on. With over half their staff now women, it's clear that it's a commitment that they're sticking to.Most of all, the folks at 7mesh's main mission is to produce awesome technical wear that enables us to do what we do best - to get out there and explore the world on bikes. 7mesh is a celebration of the activities that they love, of having great times outdoors and learning and experiencing the world. Cheers to that!

Resident camo-man and "guy who does a lot of stuff but nothing at all", the mysterious admin of ItsNothingKnew has graced the Trees and Nylon podcast! This is part 1 as Mr. Nothing and I got a little too deep into discussions about old Toyotas, Patagonia being the first ethical clothing brand, and how Arcteryx isn't cool except for when it is. Enjoy!

Really great time chatting it out with Alex, we got into what got him started with the studio world and led him to Doris and how he got into photography. We got a little political and then came back to photography and had an interesting back and forth about how cameras can be a passport into other people's worlds. Shared a couple of our favorite movies, Alex had some really interesting ones I'd never heard of before. Here's more about Alex."Alex Waber a fashion, advertising, and portrait photographer based out of Vancouver, Canada. Trained in cinematography Alex brings the language of storytelling to his photography through lighting design, composition, and art direction. With a strong DIY attitude, Alex has built himself two custom studios and that ground-up attitude makes its way into all his projects, be it custom set pieces or hand-painted backdrops; a day off is usually spent making a mess in his studio.A love of music has greatly informed his approach to the creative process, an ideal shoot is full of collaborative energy, ideas bouncing around as we follow the art direction with some good improvisation thrown into the mix. This has also resulted in many live music events happening out of his space and a number of musician's portraits which have shown up in articles around the world.Alex has shot for clients including Arcteryx, Aritzia, and Shaw Communications and has had work published internationally in places like The Guardian, Rolling Stones, and The Globe and Mail.
