With Scott "Jedi" Jedlinski and AJ Zito back in town we had to sit down with another former guest, Fabio Spinella to chop it up. Hosted by Jedi, in this episode we discuss how we chase performance goals, challenges, and competitive classifications. Talk a little about what motivation and why you should shut your trap when watching someone chasing glory. A fantastic conversation with some amazing instructors and human beings this episode is a goldmine for considering how to think about measuring your performance, seeking adversity in your training and why its important to always seek the "why."Fabio, of My Own Defender, is the most recent F.A.S.T. Coin earner (#23) and listening to Fabio and Jedi (F.A.S.T. Coin #15) discuss preparation and execution is alone worth the listen. We have Scott Jedlinski back for a 2nd show, going into a Red Dot deep dive, Scott's JiuJitsu journey, the crews current BJJ Fanatics video studies. Scott also hits on the fallacy that some instructors are pushing which is that you don't need to focus on performance in your firearms training yet more on things you cant measure like awareness, tactics and what not; he explains why this is a falsehood. Bio: Scott "Jedi" Jedlinski of the Modern Samurai Project is a life long martial artist in TKD, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and shooting. He is a Master class shooter in USPSA and is one of the industry leaders in the use of red dot optics (RDOs) on pistols. He is one of the most sought after instructors in this quickly evolving technology in firearms. This episode Aaron interviews Scott in a deep dive into the Red Dot Optics and their execution on pistols. Scott provides master class tips on how to run them effectively and provides a contrast between RDOs and iron sights putting to bed so many of the often sighted issues with the technology. Listen and get your learn on. Scott has taught members of the Pentagon ERT, US Marshal's Service, NYPD Instructor Cadre, Chicago SWAT, Ohio Tactical Officers Association, and FBI National Tactical Training Unit and multiple other SWAT teams around the US and much more. Are you looking to create a digital staffing and recruitment experience for your hiring managers and candidates? On this episode of The Staffing Show, Jan Jedlinski, founder of Candidately and the World Staffing Summit, shares his experience creating cutting-edge software that provides a convenient and accessible interface for both hiring managers and candidates throughout the staffing and recruitment process. He also talks about creating a future-focused, online virtual conference for staffing owners and operators.
How do you go from the hospitality industry…to staffing…to creating VMS software…to changing how an industry operates all within 5 years? For Jan Jedlinski, it was a perfectly natural progression. Jan is the Founder and CEO of Candidately, Gustav, and the World Staffing Organization. He's a technology entrepreneur with a bold vision to improve how staffing companies engage with clients and candidates. On this episode of Secrets of Staffing Success, Jan shares the story of how he went from hospitality school to technology leader. We talk in detail about: The importance of technology as a tool to enhance(not replace) the capabilities of staffing sales professionals and recruiters. The future of staffing and the importance of integrating technology, process, and brand to create competitive differentiation. Jan's amazing success (and lessons learned) from creating the World Staffing Summit, an event that went from an idea to a conference that attracted more than 12,000 staffing professionals in less than six months. How Jan built and manages a global team, with staff in seven countries across four continents to drive Gustav and Candidately. Connect with Jan on LinkedIn and learn more about Candidately.
Jan Jedlinski, CEO and Co-Founder of Gustav, Candidate.ly, and the World Staffing Organization joins the Hiring University podcast to discuss new technology trends in the staffing industry today and what we should expect in the near future. “There is a huge opportunity in the staffing market right now to adopt technology that doesn't necessarily mean the death of recruiters. AI and automation, the Uberization of staffing, and other technology adoption should improve the user experience for the employer and candidate even though it will look different.” -Jan Jedlinski
On this episode of the You Own The Experience podcast, Robert Mann and Lauren B. Jones chat about the recent Sirenum acquisition and why we should modernize the way we take staffing & recruiting businesses to market. Later they are joined by Jan Jedlinksi, Founder and CEO of Candidate.ly, a staffing tech company that allows a firm to transform their website into a candidate-filled digital storefront. Here Mann, Jones, and Jedlinski discuss the need for the staffing and recruiting industry to offer a different type of digital experience - one that goes far beyond the current request form on a website. They speak about how other industries like ecommerce and real estate can act as inspiration, and how gig economy platforms like Fiverr and Upwork have shown the technological possibilities in the talent space. The crew also chats about: The continued importance of showing your human side, and the trend toward specialization in a single vertical. The need for staffing firms to show up at the right time, and how content can help. Using big data to capitalise on opportunities and offer a better service. Justin Timbergoat's continued efforts to bring sexy back to Lauren's farm (a sentence that makes far more sense in context.) Check out the episode to learn more. My guest today is Jason Jedlinski, a digital product executive, innovator and brand builder currently serving as the Senior Vice President of Product for Gannett Media. Jason’s career in media spans most of his life, taking root in the second grade when he began producing a monthly family newspaper. It was one of many entrepreneurial avenues Jason pursued as a child, ranging from collecting toll fees outside his father’s office to tutoring computer skills on an Apple II. A discovery-driven thinker, as an adult Jason has repeatedly reinvented his role within an organization and is clearly not afraid to leap to new opportunities. But don’t just take my word for it: join us as we discuss Jason’s humble entrepreneurial beginnings in his family’s basement, how he took on market risk and created his own job opportunities, and the time he went all the way to the C-Suite on the 24th floor to tell the powers-that-be there was a more efficient way to complete the project he’d been assigned (something he still can’t believe he did!) In this week’s episode of “Marketing Today,” Alan talks with Jason Jedlinski, senior vice president and head of consumer products for Gannett and the USA Today Network. Prior to joining Gannett and USA Today, Jedlinski spent seven years with the Tribune Company as well as serving a brief stint in the world of ad tech. In his current role, he is responsible for everything the consumer sees from Gannett and the USA Today brands. During the course of their discussion, Jedlinski addressed a number of topics, including his take on the monetization of content, the evolution of digital advertising, and what he means when he talks about the “atomization of content.” In speaking about the atomization of content, Jedlinski points out ways Gannett and USA Today endeavor to reach consumers with content they’re curious about and can use. Not only that, he points out how the interactions consumers have with the content make it that much more vital. “It’s really thinking about how we can leverage the information we gather, and the expertise we have, and democratize it and make it accessible as broadly as possible,” says Jelinski. “And how we bring the wisdom of the crowd in to augment that and make it better and help point us to stories that should be told.” He goes on to add, “Just as we’re breaking up this content into these molecular elements, we also need to find ways to get feedback loops with the people reading and consuming and interacting with that content to further make it relevant." Highlights from this week’s “Marketing Today” podcast include: Jedlinski’s career started in TV news before undergoing a metamorphosis, where a redefined role led him into the world of digital content and consumer products. (1:23) “Our go-to-market name for Gannett” — Jedlinski talks about the USA Today Network. (4:38) “It’s a winner-take-all dynamic” — Jedlinski explains the “atomization of content.” (6:36) Jedlinski reveals his thinking on creating and organizing content. (9:50) Leveraging location and building stories in different ways. (12:25) Voice as the accelerator of change. (15:39) Jedlinski on the monetization of content. (21:12) Journalism in his blood: Jedlinski actually started a newspaper when he was in grade school. (28:08) Jedlinski is proudest of his mentoring efforts to help people learn and develop. (29:41) Support the show.
In the this episode, we talk to our friend Scott Jedlinski of Modern Samurai Project. We discuss his origins, the pursuit of the red dot, the development of his Black Belt Standards, as well as why competition is so important for all shooters! Jon Dufresne and Scott Jedlinski are two up in coming instructors. They are the new generations of firearms preachers who take what is known about shooting and format it to a more modern approach. Jon is a former Army Ranger who now teaches for Sage Dynamics and for Frank Proctor. Jon not only was a guest of the podcast but was a Shooter’s Summit instructor. Scott Jedlinski or “Jedi” teaches under his own company, Modern Samurai Project and is an avid Jiu-Jitsu practitioner and master class competitive shooter. Both teach classes with the red dot sight on pistols and that’s where I was with them. On today’s podcast, I’m recording a different kind of interview. I interview both Jon and Jedi after day one of the Modern Samurai Project’s Red Dot Pistol Course at the awesome Homestead Training Center in Homestead FL. So a couple of notes. Yes, this is being recorded on a live range at the end of the day and “That Guy” showed up at the very end to shoot in the next bay. He had to dump his ammo. So that being said, there will be some gunshots in the background. Also, I learned that the type of mic you use on a range is important and I had to use some noise reduction on Jon’s and Jedi’s tracks..so you don’t need to tell me your heard some hiss in the background. You might not notice it. I’m learning the red dot myself and I’ll be competing with it and this year’s IPSC Nationals next week. Lots of knowledge bombs in the range podcast. Enjoy… Links mentioned on the podcast: Sage Dynamics Modern Samurai Project Please SUBSCRIBE and leave a REVIEW. It takes a second but means A LOT... Join the Nation!..
Scott Jedlinski also known as “Jedi” which is a very cool nickname to have, better than “gopher”..Scott is the brains and teacher for the Modern Samurai Project which is his training company. His primary focus is teaching students the fundamentals of shooting their handguns with mini red dot sights or RDS. Red dots on handguns are here and will be the future of shooting. Jedi also competes in USPSA as a Master class shooter in Carry Optics. He uses competition as a way to becoming a better shooter. Scott is a strong proponent of hand to hand combat and regularly studies Brazilian jiu-jitsu. The similarity between BJJ and shooting is something Jedi teaches to his students. Finally, Scott is a sponsored shooter and shoots for Agency Arms with their Glock 34. Three takeaways from today's episode are 1) proving that red dot sights can shoot fine in the rain 2) Cat Crap is not from the litter box but is actually a great product that keeps glass from fogging up and 3) you can run a compensated pistol as an every day carry gun. I am very excited to bring you an up in coming instructor today, so let's get into the interview.
