A D'var Torah for Parashat Chukat. This week's parsha gives several examples of the relations animals have with humans: purifying them, harming them, killing them, and healing them. But any relationship goes two ways, and the interactions must be considered quantifiably and qualitatively. A D'var Torah for Parashat Korach. In this week's parsha, a rebellion takes place against Moses and Aaron's leadership. The rebels, lead by Korach, insist that their inherent holiness should keep Moses and Aaron from elevating themselves above them. In our time, the Korachs of the world insist that their inherent freedoms should prevent initiatives the overhaul our food system to a sustainable, plant-based one that will help to mitigate the looming climate catastrophe.
