252: In this episode, I sit down with my own doctor, Dr. Kelly McCann, to go over some of my recent test results and the detox protocols I'm doing to prep my body for pregnancy. We talk about glyphosate, mold, and other environmental toxins—and most importantly, what you can actually do about them. Dr. McCann is a total expert in helping people uncover mystery illnesses, like MCAS and hidden infections, especially when conventional doctors come up short. If you've been feeling off and haven't found answers yet, I hope this episode gives you some clarity, hope, and actionable steps to feel better. Topics Discussed:  What are the symptoms of glyphosate exposure and how can you detox from it? How do environmental toxins like mold and “forever chemicals” impact fertility and overall health? What is MCAS (Mast Cell Activation Syndrome) and how is it diagnosed and treated? What kind of functional medicine testing can uncover hidden infections or chronic illness? How can you reduce your toxic load at home and support your body's natural detox pathways? Is healthcare really about healing, or is it just a business designed to keep us sick? In this episode of The Matrix Monopoly, we pull back the curtain on the trillion-dollar healthcare industry, exposing how Big Pharma, insurance companies, and hospitals profit from disease rather than curing it.But that's just the beginning. We also dive into the silent war against natural healing—how indigenous and traditional remedies are being erased, why native fruits and medicinal plants are disappearing, and who stands to gain from replacing real food with lab-made chemicals. From the vanishing sugarcane fields of Florida to the corporate takeover of agriculture, we uncover how Big Pharma and Big Agriculture work together to control what we eat, how we heal, and ultimately, how long we live.In this episode, we cover:• The business of sickness—how the healthcare system profits from chronic illness instead of preventing it.• The erasure of natural medicine—why traditional healing practices are suppressed, and how modern medicine is built on stolen knowledge.• The vanishing of native fruits and medicinal plants—who's behind it, and why they don't want you to have access to natural healing.• The politics of food and health—how billionaire-backed corporations are buying up farmland, patenting seeds, and controlling what we consume. The same forces that profit from disease also control the food supply and influence government policies. It's all part of a larger system designed to keep people dependent, sick, and distracted. But once you see the game, you can start breaking free.Tune in now to The Matrix Monopoly and uncover the truth they don't want you to know.

Tulsi Teetering, RFK Jr. Rattled, Kash Kruising in Confirmation Hearings (featuring Michael Tracey)

Politics Politics Politics

Play Episode Listen Later Jan 31, 2025 76:43

The ongoing confirmation hearings for RFK Jr., Kash Patel, and Tulsi Gabbard have been largely predictable. But as always, the real story isn't the grandstanding—it's in the quiet calculations happening behind the scenes. This was RFK Jr.'s second day facing the Senate, and the discussion largely revolved around his past statements on vaccines. But if you're looking for movement in the room, there wasn't much. Coverage focused on explosive exchanges between Democrats and the nominees, but that's irrelevant. The Democrats can all vote no, and it won't change a thing. What matters is what Republicans are saying—and there's little indication that they are going to vote against RFK Jr.RFK Jr. remains politically resilient for two reasons:* The Kennedy name still holds value with a broad swath of Americans.* His skepticism of Big Pharma and Big Agriculture resonates with a coalition that includes both libertarians and "crunchy moms"The main Republican angle of attack was always going to be abortion. RFK Jr. has been pro-choice his entire life, but now he's taking orders from a pro-life president. How does that play out? He faced questions about the abortion pill but gave answers that were lukewarm at best.My assumption: He's moving forward.Kash Patel's hearing was predictably contentious, with heated exchanges involving Adam Schiff and Amy Klobuchar. But, again, those don't matter. He also had solid support from Republican lawmakers, which means his confirmation is essentially a done deal.If Matt Gaetz was a non-starter because of his long list of enemies, Patel should have had similar problems—he's burned plenty of bridges. The difference? Patel has a history in law enforcement, whereas Gaetz does not. That seems to be enough to push him through. This is where things get interesting. Unlike RFK Jr., Tulsi Gabbard doesn't have the built-in advantage of a famous name. Unlike Patel, she lacks a Republican establishment safety net. And unlike both of them, she has a real opposition force: the intelligence community.Tulsi has been one of the most vocal critics of the intelligence agencies, particularly regarding FISA Section 702, which she argues enables domestic surveillance. She's also expressed support for Edward Snowden—a major red flag for the very institutions she'd be overseeing as Director of National Intelligence. Her hearing featured a bipartisan focus on one specific issue: Would she call Snowden a traitor? She wouldn't.She acknowledged that Snowden broke the law, that there were other ways he could have exposed government overreach. But she refused to use the word “traitor.” And that, oddly enough, might be the line that sinks her.It speaks to a deeper issue of symbolic politics. It wasn't enough to condemn Snowden's actions—she needed to emotionally brand him as a traitor. Her refusal to do so is revealing because it suggests that there are Republicans who may see her as too much of a risk to intelligence operations.Looking at prediction markets like Polymarket:* Kash Patel is sitting comfortably at 95%.* RFK Jr. has dipped slightly from 78% to 75%, but still strong.* Tulsi Gabbard is now underwater at 44%.That's not a good place to be.Gabbard's nomination has created one of the strangest coalitions in modern politics—hardcore MAGA figures lining up alongside Tom Cotton and Meghan McCain. But if Trump's team is going to throw its weight behind any nominee, it'll likely be her. The next 72 hours will tell us if she has the votes or if this is where the process stalls. Not a ton of surprises overall, but one question remains: Will the Trump administration go all in on Tulsi? We'll see.In this episode we also have a great chat with Michael Tracey who makes his Px3 debut. I wanted to talk to him about current events but we wound up spending the whole hour rehashing the 2024 campaign. Any urban street in America is guaranteed to be lined with popular fast food chains, the readily available nature of their products being the main attraction, with people barely giving a thought to the process behind getting the food from the farm to the table — or more likely, the take-out box.  Joining host Robert Scheer on this week’s Scheer Intelligence are two people who dedicated their recent film, “Food and Country,” to understanding this process behind food in the United States and how big business, as usual, has almost complete control of the system. Renowned former food critic for the La Times and New York Times, former editor of Gourmet magazine, author of cookbooks and memoirs and PBS food guru, Ruth Reichl and film director Laura Gabbert discuss some of the key takeaways from the film. Gabbert asserts that big agriculture’s firm grasp on the industry is where the problems begin. Its lobby is amongst the biggest and Gabbert explains that there is no incentive to try and remedy the problems that come from this monopolization of an industry so essential to human survival. “I think that is really the crux of the whole problem, is money in politics,” Gabbert says. Reichl takes it back to what happened after World War II and how the U.S. government made an attempt to fight communism by cheapening the food making process, which turned farms into factories. “Almost everything that's wrong with America comes from that policy. We've destroyed our health, our environment, our communities,” Reichl tells Scheer. The heart of their story lies with the farmers themselves, and how, despite being in charge of the most important aspect of human survival, they still tend to struggle the most in society. Reichl explains their significance in the film, stating, “I just wanted for us to be able to listen to their stories that they tell themselves about what has happened to them and what the American system has done to them.” Check out the film’s website here for screening information.

Jayne Buxton is the author of "The Great Plant-Based Con: Why eating a plants-only diet won't improve your health or save the planet." It's replete with scientific references. Her exposé pushes back on the widely-popularized notion that drastic reduction of animal protein will improve human health while heading off planetary catastrophe—Buxton demonstrates the science behind it is weak and steeped in confirmation bias. She probes the forces aligned to propagate that message—a powerful alliance of Big Food, Big Medicine, Big Agriculture, Big Philanthropy, Big Media, Big Government, and Big Academia. The EAT-Lancet initiative, which proposes draconian restrictions on animal protein consumption, failed muster in a recent trial intended to demonstrate its effectiveness against heart disease and cancer. Meat and full-fat dairy are not the problem, but the excess carbs that are inevitable with many vegetarian diets are. Buxton contends the world's population can be fed and the environment safeguarded by adoption of regenerative agriculture.

Fun fact: Dimitri and I went to the same university, and he speaks a bunch of languages!Dimitri is the co-founder of AgroSystemic, whose mission is to provide the tools to facilitate the regenerative transition in the Mediterranean basin, with a special focus on tree crops. It's all about de-risking the transition for farmers. Dimitri brought a fresh perspective to the table. He reminded us that the conversation around regenerative farming shouldn't be about pointing fingers at large-scale industrial farmers or the Big Agriculture industry. Instead, it's about making sure everybody is part of the conversation and that change is happening on all levels. When farmers see how regenerative practices can improve their yield and benefit the environment, they become the biggest champions for change. Our chat left us feeling optimistic, challenged and inspired to carry on in our vision of a world where regenerative farming is the norm, not the exception. To get there, we need policies that support these practices, financial incentives, and a shift in how consumers think about their food.Catch the full episode here, and let's keep the conversation going. Together, we can foster a farming community that's informed, and committed to the health of our soil, our people, and our planet.See you next time on What The Field?! Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/crowd_farming/ Blog: https://www.crowdfarming.com/blog/en/

Austin Frerick, expert on agricultural and antitrust policy, joins James Poulos to discuss the dark future of food and the current monopolies destroying the American food system. As Americans struggle to afford healthy options, massive multinational corporations like PepsiCo, Kraft Heinz, and Nestle continue to raise prices and lower the quality of food. But what does this mean for the agricultural industry? American ranchers and farmers are struggling to compete. The two discuss the growing "Excel mindset" that businessmen like Martin Shkreli employ to maximize profits. Frerick argues that large corporations are pushing out mom-and-pop shops in every corner of the food industry, including butchers and meatpacking, while simultaneously destroying culture. They discuss the negative impact of the Farm Bill and how Wall Street and Big Agriculture continue to charge more and pay farmers less.   Sponsors: RidgeRunner is ready to help you find the ideal property! Ken Cook, president and co-founder of Environmental Working Group, is widely recognized as one of the environmental community's most prominent and effective critics of establishment agriculture and U.S. farm policy. On November 2, food policy authority Michael Pollan named Cook one of “the world's 7 most powerful foodies”, along with First Lady Michelle Obama, nutritionist Marion Nestle and The New York Times' columnist Mark Bittman. On November 19, The Times' Bittman listed EWG among 25 people and organizations for whom he was thankful as Thanksgiving approached. In its 2011 roster of Washington's top lobbyists, The Hill, the newspaper of Capitol Hill, said Cook “is at the forefront of challenges to corn ethanol and subsidies for Big Agriculture, upcoming hot-button issues as Congress tackles energy matters and starts work on a new farm bill.” Cook was voted the “Ultimate Green Game Changer” in 2009 by the readers of The Huffington Post. As Arianna Huffington put it, “The EWG is an environmental superhero with a full set of digital tools in its arsenal.” Cook is a principal architect of the landmark conservation provisions of the 1985 farm bill, which for the first time attempted to shift U.S. farm policy from a narrow focus on maximum crop production to conservation of land, water, wetlands and wildlife. The legislation was the most important environmental farm policy reform of recent years, affecting more than 400 million acres of privately owned - and publicly subsidized - farmland. EWG's online database listing every farm subsidy recipient in the nation and the amount of money each receives has generated thousands of stories about America's broken farm policy. A New York Times profile of Cook said the website helped “transform the [2002] farm bill into a question about equity and whether the country's wealthiest farmers should be paid to grow commodity crops while many smaller family farms receive nothing and are going out of business.” Cook and EWG played a similarly prominent role during the crafting of the 2008 farm bill. In the 1990s, EWG's research on pesticides was a major factor in the passage of the landmark pesticide reform law, the Food Quality Protection Act. EWG was among the first organizations to draw attention to the health threat posed by the weed-killer atrazine, conducting the first extensive tests for the chemical in tap water in 29 Midwestern cities. Cook has addressed food and agriculture policy in numerous interviews, including 60 Minutes, the CBS Evening News, NBC Nightly News, the Today Show, MSNBC, CNBC, FOX Business News, CNN's Anderson Cooper 360, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Associated Press, Reuters, The Los Angeles Times and The San Francisco Chronicle. Cook testifies regularly before House and Senate committees, has briefed top Congressional staff and has met with senior Obama administration officials, including Secretary of Agriculture Thomas Vilsack and Environmental Protection Administration chief Lisa Jackson. Cook earned a B.A. in history, B.S. in agriculture and M.S. in soil science from the University of Missouri Columbia. He is a board member of The Organic Center and the Amazon Conservation Team. He is married to Deb Callahan and lives in northern California with their young son, Callahan.  Environmental Working Group:  https://www.ewg.org/ Skin Deep Database:    https://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ Tap Water Database: https://www.ewg.org/tapwater/ State of American drinking water: https://www.ewg.org/tapwater/state-of-american-drinking-water.php The 2024 Dirty Dozen: https://www.ewg.org/foodnews/dirty-dozen.php   Ken Cook's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/kencookspodcast/and     HEADQUARTERS 1436 U St. NW, Suite 100 Washington, DC 20009 ❘ P: 202.667.6982 F: 202.232.2592 CALIFORNIA OFFICE 2201 Broadway, Suite 308 Oakland, CA 94612 ❘ P: 510.444.0973 F: 510.444.0982 MIDWEST OFFICE 103 E. 6th Street, Suite 201 Ames, IA 50010 ❘ P: 515.598.2221

This week my guest Erin Young and I peel back the curtain on the publishing world's highs and lows, sharing the tenacity required to navigate rejection and the emotional fortitude to absorb critiques even after topping the charts. From embracing a tough exterior to the strategic shifts like adopting a pen name for different genres, we explore the nuanced decisions that shape an author's career, especially when crossing from the world of historical fiction to contemporary thrillers. Erin Young is the author of the Riley Fisher series and lives and writes in Brighton, UK. Her debut contemporary  thriller novel, The Fields, was  inspired by an article in 'The Guardian'  about the menacing power of Big Agriculture on rural communities in Iowa and drew comparisons with Mare of Easttown and True Detective.  Her second novel,  Original Sins has been described as 'Bold, gritty and deeply immersive.' However, Erin Young is no stranger to the publishing world. Erin Young is the pseudonym of acclaimed historical novelist, Robyn Young, author of eight internationally bestselling novels. She has been published in 20 languages in 23 countries, selling over two million books worldwide.Original SinsIt's a brutal winter in Des Moines, Iowa, and the city is gripped by fear. Ben shares his insights into the challenges facing local and regional meat farmers and butchers, particularly in the shadow of Big Agriculture and factory farming practices. Ben sheds light on the "Chickenification" phenomenon that has permeated the chicken and pork industries, driven by the influence of hedge funds and the relentless pursuit of profit. Despite the brief lessons learned during the pandemic, Ben laments the return to business as usual and emphasizes the importance of education in preserving the local meat industry. Drawing from his own endeavors, Ben discusses his innovative solutions, including the development of a mobile processing unit, aptly named the "rig," and the establishment of a certified butcher training program in collaboration with Community Kitchen Pittsburgh. Through hands-on classes and public events, Ben and his team aim to empower individuals with the skills necessary to sustainably process and appreciate locally sourced meat. We also discuss the problem with Big Food and Big Agriculture which has led to all sorts of chronic disease, in addition to the deceptive tactics of these industries, as well. Dr. Evaggelos Vallianatos, one of Claremont's many authors and resident authority on broad spectrum of topics, including zoology and the history of science, has worked on Capitol Hill and at the US Environmental Protection Agency for almost three decades.  Dr. Vallianatos took a break from his research and writing to give Claremont Speaks some insight into how the EPA started and what the early days were like, and the corruption and duplicitous research that has happened since, including how President Biden might best make the most on his pledge to rebuild and restore the EPA to being honest, transparent and effective - in short, fulfilling its original purpose. In this episode, Dr. Vallianatos focuses on the over-use of pesticides and the deleterious effects that multi-billion dollar corporations' "EPA-Approved" neurotoxins have on bees and other animals, and human children and adults.  As a counter measure, he highlights the many advantages of consuming exclusively Certified Organic food,, including recommendations for the CUSD to help our students be as healthy and able to learn as possible.A returning guest on Claremont Speaks, Dr. Vallianatos never fails to bring new perspectives and valuable insights on his topics, relating what one might think are only national/federal issues back to Claremont, his home of many years.  Invest in listening to this episode and taking Dr. Vallianatos' recommendations to heart, and enjoy the ROI in terms of a longer, healthier life.Feedback, questions, comments, constructive criticism are all welcomed and encouraged.Send to claremontspeaks@gmail.com with Feedback in the subject line, or go to the appropriate page on Claremont Speaks' website - https://www.claremontspeaks.comClaremont Speaks is a Paradise Road Media production. Kristen and Kyla are coming for your burgers in their ongoing fight against their arch-nemesis; Big Agriculture. Plant based foods are having a moment; sales for “meat” substitutes alone are projected to grow to $85 billion by 2030, and demand for plant based ingredients is expected to grow to $13 trillion by 2025. As we continue to reckon with the climate crisis and the cruelty of the modern world, this trend is likely to continue. Special guest AJ Albrecht, Managing Director of Mercy For Animals, attorney, and animal rights advocate, discusses how industrial animal agriculture is a nightmare for farmers, farm workers, farm animals, the people who live around farms, people experiencing the effects of climate change – pretty much everyone, really. This episode explores ways to grant farms more autonomy and freedom from the debt treadmill of Big Ag, and the pathways for transferring away from livestock to plant based crops entirely.   About Kat: Industrial hemp liberates us from manipulated markets & corporate giants who control: Oil Cotton Wood Paper Plastic Polyester Vinyl all Building materials food and medicine. Hemp eliminates the grip Big Agriculture has on the food industry. No more GMO crops grown in poison. Speaking out on social media I embarked on a one-woman campaign to drop Industrial Hemp knowledge nuggets everywhere. To create a brand new economy as the old one crashes is the key. How do we achieve this? By retooling every business (possible and willing) to switch to hemp that currently uses raw materials controlled by corporate-owned resources: Oil forest products lumber building supplies vinyl plastics cardboard paper chemicals fuel food medicine. As we move away from using Cabal-controlled resources owned by private corporations their debt slavery structure collapses. We literally grow our new economy starting with the raw material Hemp. Kat's story started At the height of the pandemic. She and her husband, Mark drove to Mount Rushmore to meet other Patriots in prayer on the Fourth of July. That weekend we met beautiful patriots. On napkins In a bar in South Dakota, Hemp processing plants became the topic on how to bring Hemp back as a US commodity. In Solidarity of vision, friendship, & alignment with The Creator, All of us are bringing forth the golden age of mankind. Central to this entire journey is this beautiful plant called Hemp. Kat is happily married to her 3rd husband, and they are both raised in Ohio. She has 3 grown children, & 3 grandchildren. She grew up around animals gardening and playing in my grandmas beauty shop. Standing on a wooden soda pop box shampooing her customers for her. Most of them would tell her “scrub harder!” In high school, her parents took in foster children and Dad started a home improvement business. She grew up gardening and nursing hurt animals. She was in JVS when her parents joined a Christian Cult. Within a year, I graduated from school. She was a good hairstylist. She rented a room in a shared house. I was 17. She did remodeling projects too, with my dad & brother who was the general contractor. She was self-employed most of her career. I've owned 2 salons. I was 50/50 owner in an automotive repair shop. She have designed and remodel homes garage and business spaces. In 40 years, she learned a lot about people & life from her life and stories told to her, as she stood behind the chair. Watching people struggle and be faced with horrible situations because they had no money made me more determined to watch the world change for the good. An old farmer in the 90's told me Hemp was grown for the war effort during WW2. As she started reading about hemp she realized that the war on drugs controlled hemp. Hemp's cousin, Marijuana, heals 650 diseases according to the 1860's Merk Pharmaceutical manual! The war on drugs gave the pharmaceutical industry a carte blanche to push their crude oil drugs. She is resistant to antibiotics, & she see only hindered healing in hospitals. She became a conspiracy theorist before they ever had a common name on social media for it. She envisions a community where the people Peacefully and compassionately govern themselves to serve others. It is possible that all live a better life as many hands make light work. We hope this idea catches on. Warriors Post Ranch is dedicated to veterans & open to everyone.

Carbon Removal Might Be the World's Most Important Technology. How Does It Work?

Plain English with Derek Thompson

Play Episode Listen Later Aug 9, 2022 48:09

Last year, somebody explained the problem of climate change to me with a metaphor that I've never been able to forget. They said: Imagine a bathtub. The bathtub is the planet's atmosphere. The faucet is on full blast and it's quickly filling with water. The gushing faucet represents every source of global carbon emissions, from "Big Agriculture" and energy companies to cars and cow farts. The water is carbon itself. The challenge of climate change mitigation is straightforward: Stop the water from filling the tub, spilling over the edge, and destroying the planet. There are a lot of environmentalists and federal policies that focus on one part of the picture. They want to turn the tap to reduce emissions. This is what wind, solar, and geothermal energy does. This is what electric cars do. It is an absolutely essential goal. But a very full tub can still overflow even with a slower-dripping faucet. So we need to think bigger to save the world. We need a plan that goes beyond the faucet. We need to drain water from the basin by pulling the plug at the bottom of the tub—that is, to suck a huge amount of carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere and flush them away. So, how do you pull the plug? In the last few years, I've become very interested in a technology called carbon removal—and especially direct air capture. Imagine, basically, a giant factory that pulls carbon from the atmosphere and buries it. This technology is still incredibly expensive. In August 2022, it is not remotely close to being a global solution to climate change. But there is a chance it may be the most important technology of the 2020s and 2030s, if you understand the problem of the tub, the water, the faucet, and the plug. Today's guest is Giana Amador. She is the co-founder and policy director of Carbon180, an interdisciplinary organization devoted to carbon-removal technologies. In this episode, she explains how different carbon removal technology works; why there are a million carbon removal plants all over the planet already; the technology and cost problems of vacuuming the atmosphere; and why some people think this technology won't ever work in the first place. The term “regenerative” means that the agriculture systems in which this food was raised honor the systems within Mother Nature. We care for the soil, respect diversity in plants and animals on the land, and focus on natural outcomes versus synthetic inputs. That means no tilling, no synthetic chemicals, no hormones or antibiotics, and beautiful, wide-open spaces. The result is what you expect. Disrupting the Big Food Industry We spent the last decade studying regenerative agriculture at ranches all over the world before we answered the community's call to launch Force of Nature. Never before has a company founded on the principles of regenerative agriculture, curated a vast collection of land stewards, ranchers, and farmers who are committed to creating a positive return on the planet. Our mission is to accelerate the creation of a global regenerative supply network, to justify our supplier partners' efforts on the land, and to offer consumers the awareness and the ability to vote for a system that aligns with their values. By reclaiming the legacy of meat, we will benefit all stakeholders of the planet and restore regenerative principles to their rightful place as the keystone to our agricultural system. Regenerative Farming is Better Meat that is more delicious and nutritious than anything else you can buy, including organic and traditional grass fed. Animals that are raised with honor in their respected natural environments, eating foods they are supposed to eat. Power Quotes From The Show Omnivorous Truth: Starving with Our Bellings Full "As a culture, as a species, we are starving with our bellies full. We are seeing plummeting fertility rates, chronic diseases, obesity, and children are dying. That is why we should all be caring and having this conversation that looks directly back at our food and the land on which everything is dependent upon." - Taylor Collins Revealing Food Industry Lies "Big Food, Big Agriculture, Big Oil, Big Chemical, and Big Pharma are all tied together in our food system and they support the left side party, the right side party, and all that flow of money says, 'Don't mess up this machine.' If you look at what's going on with social media and the internet as they try to censor conversations, we need consumers to break out of their mold and become independent thinkers to stop allowing themselves to perpetuate the myths and the lies that they have been fed for years and to look at what's really happening in the food industry. A value meal at Chic-fil-A is more expensive than buying regenerative protein and whole vegetables to make a meal together as a family." - Robby Sansom Healing with Regenerative Ranching "If my wife was still vegan today she would either be dead or in a wheelchair. We ditched the vegan diet and began to eat in an evolutionary consistent manner. Within days, years of symptoms we had just went away." - Taylor Collins Links From Today's Show  Taylor Collins Robby Sansom Where Hope Grows Podcast EPIC Provisions: How This Husband + Wife Went From Being Vegan To Starting A Meat-Based Snack Brand These Founders Sold Their Food Company for a Reported $100 Million. Started by first generation farmers, Katie and Taylor's journey into ranching was based on a vision to positively impact large-scale agriculture through producing nourishing food that improves the lives of animals, enriches the health of consumers, and regenerates the land on which we depend. Like much of the world, this once-fertile region has been industrially farmed for the past 100 years. Through persistent tilling of soil, planting of monoculture row crops, and overgrazing, ROAM Ranch was not capable of producing food upon its purchase. Land in this condition is often deemed "unsalvageable" and in many circumstances further degenerates with rest- but we are going to prove otherwise. Force of Nature Meats partners with regenerative ranchers to bring you the best meat on the planet, for the planet.  With the intention to accelerate the creation of a global regenerative supply network. Never before has a company founded in the principles of regenerative agriculture curated a vast collection of land stewards, ranchers, and farmers who are committed to creating a positive return on the planet. Force of Nature now exists to give consumers the ability to vote for environmental regeneration by consuming meat that is actually good for the planet.

Play: 0:00-0:07 I think I agree with Chuck Schumer … and more on today's CrossPolitic Daily News Brief. This is Toby Sumpter. Today is Tuesday, January 4, 2021.  VAERS Stats from SEn. Ron Johnson The chart lists Ivermectin, Hydroxychloriquine, Flu vaccines, Dexamethasone, Tylenol, Remdesivir, and Covid Vaccines.  While Ivermectin lists 393 total deaths, with 15 deaths per year, and hydroxychloriquine lists 1770 total deaths, averaging 69 deaths per year, and Flu vaccines list 2001 deaths total, with an average of 77 deaths per year, Covid vaccines show a total of 21,002 deaths and since that has only been counting for the last year, that is also the currently annual average: 21,002 deaths from COVID vaccines. Now, were some of those deaths with vaccines instead of from vaccine? Most likely. But something is going on there.  Girls-Only Schools Say They Will Only Admit Biological Girls A group of girls-only private schools in Britain are refusing to admit transgender students, worried that it could affect their status as single-sex schools under current law. The Girls' Day School Trust (GDST), which represents 25 schools across Britain, released its policy with regards to gender identity in order to clarify that the schools organizing through this group should reject the admission of transgender children. The GDST believes that an admissions policy based on gender identity rather than the legal sex recorded on a student's birth certificate would jeopardize the status of GDST schools as single-sex schools under the act,” their new guidance states. “For this reason, GDST schools do not accept applications from students who are legally male. We will, however, continue to monitor the legal interpretation of this exemption,” the guidance continues. The Trust hastened to add that all current transgender students are welcome to remain as students.  The Trust also sacrificed four oxen, three sheep, and two turtle doves following the announcement, hoping not to be destroyed from the face of the earth. Biden To Promote Meat Industry Overhaul President Biden on Monday will promote an overhaul of the meat-packing industry as he blames rising consumer prices and dwindling farmers' profits on the handful of large “middlemen” who dominate the processing segment of the supply chain. Play: 2:00-2:44 The White House said the administration will spend $1 billion to expand independent processing capacity and instill competition in a market where four meat-packing companies control 85% of the beef market, four firms control 50% of poultry processing, and four big processors control 70% of the pork market. Mr. Biden is under pressure to alleviate inflation and supply chain pressures that are making food, gas, toys and other products more expensive. At times, he's blamed the sticker shock on price gouging by big industry players. The meat-processing industry is his latest target. He said dominant processors are increasing their profits at the expense of farmers and families. Mr. Biden's plan includes $100 million for workforce training and safety after Congress accused the meat-packing industry of forcing workers into unsafe conditions during the pandemic. Ransomware attacks also hit the industry earlier in Mr. Biden's term. The White House said it will strengthen rules that require farmers and ranchers to get a fair price for the meat they provide.  Ah… there we go: strengthen rules that require fair prices… That's exactly what you don't the Federal Government to be doing.  Rep. Thomas Massie thread: Thread. The Biden administration is over the target. Four companies control the majority of meat processed in the United States. This quad-opoly of corporate middlemen have driven up prices in stores while depressing prices paid to struggling farmers. (tinyurl.com/5bxm87km) We all agree: the solution is to promote competition. Biden advisors recommend antitrust lawsuits against the big packers and subsidies for the little guys.  There's a better answer though that's free: Roll back crippling regulations on the little guys and they will flourish. Six years ago, I worked with Democrats and Republicans in the House and Senate to introduce a bill called the PRIME Act, which would right-size regulations and break up the corporate monopoly on meat processing.  We've introduced this bill in every congress since 2015. The PRIME Act would allow local farmers to sell meat in local grocery stores using local processors, as long as the commerce doesn't cross state lines, and complies with all state and county regulations (such as monthly inspections by county health departments). Here's the PRIME Act, just a few pages and easy to understand. Check out the House and Senate sponsors from both sides of the aisle: (congress.gov/bill/117th-con…)  (congress.gov/bill/117th-con…) So who opposes the PRIME Act and why hasn't it passed? Big Agriculture lobbyists (posing as friends of small farmers) oppose this bill, and I'm sad to tell you they've bought off most members of the House Agriculture committee. But a President could cut through the bull!  Meanwhile, critics also pointed out that Biden doesn't seem to be too concerned about Big Pharma monopolies. How many Pharmaceutical companies control the current medicine markets? And speaking of monopolies: Democrats Pushing End to Filibuster Rules Democrats are resuming their push to change Senate filibuster rules in the hope of passing elections legislation, and they plan to use the one-year anniversary of the Capitol riot to win over two hold outs, Senators Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema. Democrats are hopeful that they can sway the two moderates by arguing both publicly and privately that the riot set off a sustained Republican effort to erode voting rights in state capitals across the country, Politico reported Monday. Of course this would be an about-face from previous stances.  For example: In 2005, Then-Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., condemned weakening the Senate's tradition of extended debate as “an example of the arrogance of power,” a “power grab by the majority party” that would “eviscerate the Senate.” It was 2005, and Republicans held the White House and Congress. Chuck Schumer on the Filibuster Play Audio The Senate was established originally as a check against majoritarian impulses. It has an equal voice for all the states - 2 senators per state, and there are six year terms with only a third of the senators up for re-election every two years. The 60 vote filibuster is not required by the constitution, but it is certainly in keeping with the spirit of the constitution. Removing the 60 vote threshold certainly does move it closer to the House.  Of course in May 2017, Then-President Donald Trump demanded that Senate Republicans abandon extended debate in order to enact his legislative priorities. Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., majority leader at the time, rejected “fundamentally changing how the Senate has worked for a very long time.” The difference between playing politics and standing for principle is seen very clearly right here. Principles are things that don't change. They remain the same for everyone, no matter who is in power. Frequently, Republicans are just as bad as Democrats. While there is certainly room to be grateful for some of what Trump did, this is certainly an area where he was rocking the boat in an unprincipled way. If the Democrats were smart, they'd cite Donald Trump as a defense for their move.  PSalm of the DAy: Psalm 30 2:48-3:28 Remember you can always find the links to our news stories and these psalms at crosspolitic dot com – just click on the daily news brief and follow the links.  This is Toby Sumpter with Crosspolitic News.
