The word difficult doesn't even define this past week for me. It was terrifying how what began as a truly inspiring moment quickly turned nasty. It's no doubt we all want change, but we must do a lot of self-reflection as young people. We didn't realize the enemy was amongst us. Let's be wise; destroying things that provide income for our young people isn't the way forward. The enemy we think we are punishing is not who we've punished at all. It is a hard thing to admit when your business is up against challenges out of your control. It is even harder to accept that to paying customers. Very often, the hard thing to do and the right thing to do are one of the same things. Informing your customers that you are having challenges can be indeed off-putting for some. After all, no one likes to use a service or product that doesn't work. However by keeping your customers informed about a problem you are proactively showing them that you are aware there's an issue, and you are not afraid to take full responsibility but Aso that you are doing everything in your power to resolve it. This week I am joined by Tokunbo Lawal. The founder and CEO of WILLCO Nigeria, a client-centric property servicing company that provides a broad range of cost-effective management solutions to a variety of clients in the commercial, industrial, and residential space. One biggest question that many seek the answer to is whether they should get a 9-5 or begin the journey to entrepreneurship. This difficult decision has always been the most challenging question until recently, mainly because many don't realise the choice is there. Many people struggle with the difference between the two because they only understood employment as the choice that was available for them. Historically people were encouraged to find a great job, and many of us don't think about creating our employment by becoming a business owner, and those who did were grossly ambitious or unrealistic (until we watched them succeed). Understanding the difference between employment and entrepreneurship is crucial to recognising which option would work better for you. This week I am joined by with Edith Nwekenta, the head of the production for Accelerate TV an online media platform for original African entertainment to take you inside Africa. Edith is a talented producer and actress who has worked on film projects such as Mum, Dad Meet Sam, Prey, Unspoken, Born Positive. She has lived both the life of an entrepreneur as well as that 9-5.

As we watched COVID-19 intensify in the past few months & businesses disrupted one after the other, it is no surprise that business as we knew it has changed for good. In addition to the human impact, there is a significant economic and commercial impact that we have all felt globally. As entrepreneurs, we are optimistic that the COVID-19 threat will eventually fade, as the Ebola, Zika, and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) viruses have in recent years. However, the social-economic impact will still be felt long after the virus fades. As a result, I and millions of entrepreneurs across Africa must begin to position ourselves to be resilient post-Covid-19 but more importantly how must we now do business in Africa.
