Today I'm talking with Alex from ModernHealthMonk.com, a health and wellness site that helps people lose weight and get rid of chronic pain. Alex is one of my oldest mastermind partners, and we've been through a LOT of the messy ""figuring it out"" stage together. In this interview, Alex describes how he built his online business through a long process of experimentation, and talks candidly about what worked and what failed in a big way. One strategy that succeeded for him was launching books on Amazon, and Alex lays out the launch strategy that turned his book into a best-selling passive income producer. (12:45) - Alex's biggest growth lever - the 20% rule (16:05) - Surprising things that just never worked out for Alex's business (20:00) - The Amazon launch strategy that generates royalties month after month (28:05) Links and show notes: http://www.entrepreneursinmotion.com/monk

Alex is the author of the book MASTER THE DAY, which is based on the success habits behind people that lost over 100+ pounds in a healthy way, and kept it off, and the founder of Modern Health Monk - a site dedicated to helping ambitious professionals lose weight and feel awesome by changing tiny habits. Most of the health and weight loss advice is the exact same, even from respectable people. Here's my unique diet, blah blah blah. Here are my unique supplements, blah blah blah. Alex's entire process is based on addressing success at the origin: our habits, our personality, our character, regardless of what diet you're on. Many people have realized that the diet can constantly change, but unless WE change, nothing happens. Alex and I discuss: - The daily success habits of people that lost 100+ pounds in a healthy way and kept it off - The myth of discipline and willpower: how tiny habits win every time - Success habits of olympians, writers, and even the creator of the rolls royce - how they bypassed traditional thinking of "I need to be more disciplined" You can learn more about Alex here and you can get a copy of his book, Master The Day, here. I find that the days are so much smoother and the days where I have had most regular practice, where I have been the most conscious, have been easy. There is no car horn, no traffic and no emotional fight that can really ruffle it and it's just this feeling of, life's pretty easy. I'm just being carried along, doing my work, no road blocks, it's kind of a pleasurable feeling.Thoughts on BreathingFor me one of the things I do as I work because for the last three or four years I have worked 12 hour days because I have had multiple jobs. The hardest thing for me was the stress which is despite meditating in the morning daily, despite working out, despite eating right its been kind of hard to be conscious of my stress level and to me the biggest trigger was the breath. I basically used the pomodoro technique which was a break every 25 minutes and I used that 5 minutes as a quick meditative break and I basically do a quick assessment to see what place in my stomach or my chest my breath is in. That has become the trigger for the stress I have.Suggested ResourcesBook: Fourth Uncle in the Mountain: The Remarkable Legacy of a Buddhist Itinerant Doctor in Vietnam by Marjorie Pivar and Quang Van NguyenAdvice for Newbie Much like any person who acquires great skill or great accolades, it all comes back to some kind of daily skill. The daily skill is the physical practice of meditation and the hard part is going to be the physical practice of meditation. Focus on whatever it takes for you to come up with a few key habits to meditate daily, whether its a time of day with some kind of ritual, maybe its not even seated meditation, maybe its walking meditation or even food meditation. Maybe food is a personal weakness of yours, try and start meditation there. Maybe it's in the gym, start meditation there feeling every fiber of your body as you lift the weight, as you run or whatever it is you're doing. I would say think carefully, what are the few vital habits you can do on a daily basis that will lead you to the more conscious, the more present life?Thank You Bonus: As a thank you for listening, download your free copy of my book, Cracking The Success Code.
