Angela Santomero, co-creator of Blues Blues, creator of Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood, Super Why!, and the new Princess Penelope's Purse of Preposterous Things, joins us on The Mom Room this week to talk all about kids media. With a masters in child development, Angela has been a key player in bringing child psychology to kids shows by asking herself the question, 'what if you could put the very best curriculum on TV?' She has applied her "view and do" method to create some of the most highly regarded kids shows, where every moment has something in it that can help influence, inspire, and add to a child's curiosity. Despite the dangers that come with unsupervised media, including misinformation, Angela explains how to approach media so that kids will be intrinsically motivated to watch content that holds valuable learning lessons. Hopefully this episode can help show parents that screen time can be beneficial to a child's understanding of kindness, empathy, self-esteem, and motivate and inspire them to create in the real world. In this episode of Moolala: Money Made Simple, host Bruce Sellery sits down with author Stefanie O'Connell to dig into her data-driven book The Ambition Penalty, which reveals how corporate culture tells women to step up and then pushes them back down through biased performance reviews, salary negotiation backlash, and the "paradox of meritocracy." While Caroline is honeymooning in the Dolomites, Lily Shimbashi, founder of Sportsish, joins us to break down the most important news in sports and pop culture. Madison Square Garden is on our minds this week – and it's not just because the Knicks lost at home. Rumor has it that Taylor Swift's wedding will take place at the iconic New York City arena on July 3. Are we buying it? No. What's are people *actually* buying when it comes to the pop star? The literal chair she sat on during the Cav's Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals. We hate it here too. Hey SO MONEY family — something special in your feed today. My friend Lindsey Stanberry is taking over with an episode of Family Money, her new podcast series with Babylist through The Purse. Lindsey has been covering women, work, and money for over a decade, and what she's building here is exactly the kind of honest, practical conversation that parents need and almost nobody is having well. And yes — I'm in this one.The episode is called "What Does Childcare Actually Cost?" and it does exactly what it says. Lindsey talks with economist Corinne Low — Associate Professor at the Wharton School and author of the USA Today bestseller Having It All — who reframes childcare not as a money pit but as an investment in your time, your career, and your family's future. Then I join to walk through the real numbers: daycare centers, nanny shares, au pairs, in-home care, the grandparent option nobody talks about enough — what each one actually costs and how to figure out what's right for your family. We also get into something that drives me crazy: this idea that childcare costs come out of the mother's salary. They don't. They come out of your family's future. And once you see it that way, everything changes. If you're expecting, deep in the daycare years, or just trying to get ahead of it — this episode is for you. Give Family Money a follow wherever you listen. Lindsey is doing incredible work.Learn more about Farnoosh's upcoming literary workshop Book to Brand. Early bird registration is now open! In this episode of Reading With Your Kids, Jed welcomes back one of preschool media's most influential creators, Angela Santomero, to celebrate her new series, "Princess Penelope's Purse of Preposterous Things." Angela explains that Princess Penelope is a brave, kind-hearted kitten who doesn't realize how small she is. When Mother Nature grants her a magical purple purse filled with "preposterous things," Penelope must use creative and critical thinking—not just magic—to solve problems and stand up for her friends. Angela shares how this "engine" of the series helps kids learn to think, reason, and be kind, skills she believes are essential in an age of AI and constant media. Drawing on her background in child development and her groundbreaking work on Blue's Clues and Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood, Angela talks about "cuddle TV"—those precious moments when parents and kids watch or read together, ask questions like "What do you think will happen next?", and model deeper thinking. She highlights research showing that just 15 minutes of daily reading-for-fun can expose kids to a million new words a year and profoundly shape their futures. Angela also compares the Princess Penelope books and YouTube episodes, explaining how each medium deepens the experience in different ways. Later in the episode, Jed chats with David Gillespie, retired Air Force veteran and author of "Floo Flocky Doo to the Rescue." David shares the 26-year journey from his daughter's imaginative play to a lively, rhyming picture book that celebrates family stories, risk-taking, and nurturing a lifelong love of reading in young children.

On today's program, Trey Falwell — the son of former Liberty University president Jerry Falwell Jr. — is suing the school, claiming he is owed $1.75 million in unpaid wages. We'll have details. And, an Ohio pastor resigned from his post amid allegations of financial misdealings, leaving the church in a state of upheaval…a year later, members are still waiting for answers, and an audit. We'll take a look. Plus, a Georgia pastor lovingly dubbed ‘The Autism Pastor' has died at age 47…and SBC seminary president Al Mohler shares his own health update. But first, Samaritan's Purse is opening an Ebola field hospital in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The producer for today's program is Jeff McIntosh. The devotional centers on God's profound concern for the poor, drawing from Scripture such as Deuteronomy, Proverbs, and James to emphasize that neglecting the needy is spiritually dangerous and contrary to divine heart. It calls believers to active compassion through practical, faith-driven generosity—highlighting real-world ministries like Samaritan's Purse and family-involved initiatives such as adopting orphans or sending gift boxes to children in need. The message underscores the transformative power of small, consistent acts of giving, especially when shared with children to instill empathy and stewardship. It encourages families to engage in prayerful, intentional outreach, using resources like donation magazines and global projects to address both physical and spiritual poverty. Ultimately, the sermon affirms that when the poor are remembered in giving, God blesses generously and answers prayer in remarkable ways.

A new Lifeway study finds that 76% of American Christians believe God wants them to prosper financially — and among younger churchgoers, that number climbs to 85%. The prosperity gospel didn't die with the TV preachers. It just got quieter, more therapeutic, and harder to recognize. Brian From unpacks why that matters and how to spot it. Then: June is Pride Month, and Brian pushes back on both the combative Christian response and the capitulating one — asking instead what it would look like for the church to be genuinely known as a friend of sinners, the way Jesus was. Should Christians flip tables like Jesus? A careful look at what scripture actually encourages us to imitate — and it isn't anger. A meditation on the "I am the Good Shepherd" declaration from John 10, and what it means that Jesus sleeps at the gate. A reflection on John James of the Newsboys and the message of his story for anyone who feels like they're on God's discard pile. Samaritan's Purse opening an Ebola field hospital in Congo. Without God's perfect love, we cannot be free from condemnation and the bondage that we all face here on earth. But with God, we can live life and live it abundantly. Before knowing the Lord, Marina was living in bondage. Hear Marina’s incredible testimony and the ways God is using her story now as she serves in the Samaritan’s Purse Germany office. This episode was created by Samaritan's Purse and is part of their On the Ground with Samaritan's Purse podcast content, shared with permission. Resources: Listen to “Fighting Spiritual Battles: Human Trafficking in Berlin,” to hear more about Alabaster Jar and how God is transforming hearts amid spiritual darkness. Marina Nobiling, director of national programs at the Samaritan’s Purse Germany office, shed light on the current cultural and spiritual climate of Germany and talked about the ongoing Samaritan’s Purse projects in the country. There is an immense need for the Gospel to be preached in Germany and for Bible-believing churches to step up and lead. “We want to stand for the Gospel. We want to stand for Jesus … And we want to show in our programs and projects what it's like to be with Him; to be living with Jesus.” – Marina Nobiling Before coming to Christ, Marina said she was not merely neutral towards God, she was an enemy. Marina was in bondage—she battled an eating disorder and anxiety for years to the point of planning to take her own life. But when Marina had an encounter with the Lord, everything changed. “And I had a voice in my head: ‘I want you to live. And you can do it with my help’ … It was beyond any doubt clear. That's Jesus. My whole life I had the wrong thinking. That's not true. God exists.” – Marina Nobiling Marina went from believing that the Gospel was an old superstition to knocking on the door of the nearest church, asking to be baptized. She was on fire for God. Marina now takes this compassion to the streets of Berlin, ministering to women who are trapped in prostitution. She remembers what it was like to be in bondage and desires for others like her to be free; to be transformed by the love of Christ. Life can be hard, and Marina still struggles, but she has something to turn to that cannot be shaken: God’s Word. Marina created a “first aid kit” with Psalms and Scriptures that speak to her when she is fighting lies or feeling weighed down by fears. Her favorite verse, Isaiah 43:1, reminds her that she belongs to the Lord—nothing can take that away. “But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: ‘Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.’” – Isaiah 43:1, ESV If you’d like to keep up to date with more stories from On the Ground, please visit SamaritansPurse.org. This week we are featuring an episode from "On The Ground with Samaritan's Purse". Guest Marina Nobiling, director of national programs at the Samaritan’s Purse Germany office, sheds light on the current cultural and spiritual climate of Germany and talked about the ongoing Samaritan’s Purse projects in the country. There is an immense need for the Gospel to be preached in Germany and for Bible-believing churches to step up and lead. Resources: • Listen to “Fighting Spiritual Battles: Human Trafficking in Berlin,” to hear more about Alabaster Jar and how God is transforming hearts amid spiritual darkness. https://ontheground.samaritanspurse.org/podcast/fighting-spiritual-battles-human-trafficking-in-berlin “We want to stand for the Gospel. We want to stand for Jesus … And we want to show in our programs and projects what it's like to be with Him; to be living with Jesus.” –Marina Nobiling Before coming to Christ, Marina said she was not merely neutral towards God, she was an enemy. Marina was in bondage—she battled an eating disorder and anxiety for years to the point of planning to take her own life. But when Marina had an encounter with the Lord, everything changed. “And I had a voice in my head: ‘I want you to live. And you can do it with my help’ … Itwas beyond any doubt clear. “But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel:‘Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.’” – Isaiah 43:1, ESV If you’d like to keep up to date with more stories from On the Ground, please visitSamaritansPurse.org. This week's episode of Fearless is a little different. I had my childhood friend and now Samaritan's Purse colleague, Gracie O'Loughlin, join me to share her powerful testimony of Jesus redeeming first her life, and then using her to bring Christ to family members far from Him. Gracie was one of the popular girls in our small town high school, and I remember looking up to her, but never fully knowing her story. Well, today you'll get a front-row seat to that story—one where Gracie went from trying everything the world's way after her parents' divorce, to a young woman sold-out for the Lord and determined to lead those closest to her towards the One who saved her life. Together Gracie and I talk about why our families can sometimes feel like the most difficult mission field, how to set aside our own comfort to preach the Gospel with directness, and why we believe it's never too late for someone's life to be drastically changed by a God who specializes in bringing the lost home (don't miss when Gracie talks about her 98 year-old grandmother accepting Christ!). Time is running out to share the greatest news we'll ever hear. As Gracie says, sometimes we can't simply bank on our faith “rubbing off” on our families and friends through the way we live our lives—we're called to preach the Gospel, no matter the personal cost. God likes to call us out of our comfort zone, but often we hesitate out of fear—we like the comfort and safety of the life we have known. But stepping out in faith is where true growth happens. Edward Graham, Chief Operating Officer at Samaritan’s Purse, shares what God has taught him in leadership, both in the military but also in ministry. Hear how you, too, can step out in faith and obedience to the Lord, in whatever He has for you. Resources: • Learn more about how you can get involved with Samaritan’s Purse domestically and internationally. https://www.samaritanspurse.org/our-ministry/nam/#volunteer-now https://www.samaritanspurse.org/our-ministry/dart/ • Listen to “Suffering for Christ’s Sake” to hear stories of pastors who experienced intense persecution and how their faith sustained them.https://ontheground.samaritanspurse.org/podcast/suffering-for-christs-sake Highlights: Edward shares stories from his time in the military, where he chose to trust the Lord and seek Him for wisdom. He reads a passage from James that he continually goes to when he needs to turn away from doubt and towards belief. “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.” – James 1:5-8, ESV Now more than ever, Samaritan’s Purse has an opportunity to love our neighbors that are hurting in the Middle East. Our staff stand ready, training and preparing so when famine comes or disaster hits and everyone else is running away, we can respond in Jesus’ Name. “God expects us—when He entrusts us with His widow’s mite or with His people—to take prudent risk, to go out and multiply in the Gospel.” – Edward Graham Edward talks about trials he has faced in his own life and how they shaped him and encouraged his walk with the Lord. The story in the Bible where Peter walks on water shows Edward that sometimes in life God is calling us to get out of the boat. Often in our Western culture, we strive for comfort and ease. But that is not what the life of a Christian looks like. “Let's get out of the boat. Let's be part of miracles. You’ve got to challenge yourself. You’ve got to put yourself out there sometimes, and maybe it's your church, maybe it's your family, maybe it's your job and career. Somewhere you're safe in the boat. What do you do to take that step and go walk on water and go be part of a miracle?” – Edward Graham None of what is going on in our world surprises God. Kristy and Edward remind listeners that in this world we will have trouble, but we can take heart because Jesus has overcome the world. Edward asks for prayer for our staff and volunteers serving amid disasters and conflicts across the globe and for new endeavors that the ministry is embarking on within its aviation and U.S. rebuild programs.
