“Even for nonbelievers, the author's palpable excitement over the subject matter is endearing and entertaining. Ufologists won't want to miss this work.” —Foreword ReviewsIn 1972, American astronomer and ufologist J. Allen Hynek first coined the term “close encounter.” He also identified three types of close encounters with UFOs. Since then, several more types of encounters have been proposed. A close encounter of the fourth kind is an alien abduction. A closer encounter of the fifth kind is voluntary, bilateral contact with an alien species. We are no longer just looking at strange flying objects in the skies; now we are beginning to interact with the actual pilots, crew, and passengers!Do aliens exist? In 2013, one poll showed that nearly half of all Americans (48 percent) believe UFOs may be a sign of extraterrestrial visitation; another found that 10 percent of Americans claim to have actually witnessed an actual UFO; and yet another showed that 2.9 million Americans believe they had actually been abducted by aliens. If aliens exist and are visiting us, we need to talk!Who will speak to them on behalf of planet Earth? Who can translate their intentions—good or evil—toward the human race? How can we learn about their advanced technologies? Can aliens speak human languages? These and even more fascinating questions are all addressed in How to Talk to an Alien.“Nancy du Tertre covers the various considerations involved with extraterrestrial communication, including the use of alien technology, ET linguistics, and the possibility of using telepathy and dreams. Her handbook for the future should be on every thinking person's bookshelf.” —Jim Marrs, New York Times–bestselling authorNancy du Tertre, known as "The Skeptical Psychic," is a securities litigation attorney who became a trained psychic detective and a remote viewer trained in military CRV methods. This week, we are chatting with Matan Lamdan, a cloud infra investor at CRV. Matan started his career as an officer in Unit 8200, the security unit of the IDF, before transitioning to investigative journalism. Now, Matan is a Principal on the infra team at CRV, where he primarily focuses on early-stage security investments. During the episode, we discuss the screening process for the IDF and how Matan ended up in the cyber intelligence unit (which is very well known in the valley). We also cover how chance encounters landed Matan in VC, the importance of being in the right networks, and how CRV acts as a thought partner to their founders. Matan also dives into where AI agents will impact security and why CISOs are excited about this opportunity. Landbrugspodcasten har samlet to avlsnørder i studiet. Lyt med når Anders Lau og Martin Rasmussen tager dig med bag tallene. Programmet præsenteres i samarbejde med smaXtec og CRV.
The Automotive Troublemaker w/ Paul J Daly and Kyle Mountsier
Shoot us a Text.Today is our fearless leader Paul J Daly's birthday! So we gave him the morning off and tapped in producer Nathan Southwick. We're talking all about the new Canada and Mexico tariffs that put pressure on the automotive supply chains, plus the top depreciating cars and how Google is pushing to achieve artificial general intelligence.Show Notes with links:The U.S. has enacted 25% tariffs on imports from Canada and Mexico, throwing the highly integrated North American production network into turmoil. The tariffs, effective today, March 4, apply to all imports except Canadian energy products, which face a lower 10% duty. Canada and Mexico both responded with their own tariffs.Industry experts predict vehicle prices could rise between $4,000 and $10,000, with Ford CEO Jim Farley cautioning that prolonged tariffs could "blow a hole in the U.S. industry that we have never seen."Flavio Volpe, president of the Automotive Parts Manufacturers' Association said that there is potential for U.S. and Canadian auto production to revert to "2020 pandemic-level idling and temporary layoffs within the week.”Key auto models at risk include the Toyota RAV4, Ford Mustang Mach-E, Chevrolet Equinox and Blazer, and the Honda Civic and CR-V, while European automakers with manufacturing in Mexico, including Volkswagen, Stellantis, and BMW, saw their stocks drop sharplyThe STOXX Europe 600 Automobiles and Parts index fell 3.8% and Continental AG, a major supplier, saw an 8.4% drop in shares.Used Tesla Model 3 and Model Y vehicles saw the steepest depreciation of any cars in 2024, according to Fast Company's analysis of CarGurus data.Model Y prices dropped 25.5%, while Model 3 prices fell 25% from January 2024 to January 2025.Comparatively, the Nissan Maxima only dropped 5.2%, and the Ford Mustang declined 5%.Full Top 10: Tesla Model Y, Tesla Model 3, Land Rover Range Rover, Jeep Wrangler 4xe, Chevrolet Express Cargo, Ford Transit Connect, RAM ProMaster, Land Rover Range Rover Sport, Chevrolet Bolt EV, and Ford Expedition, all with over 19% depreciationGoogle co-founder Sergey Brin is back and pushing Google DeepMind (GDM) teams to accelerate their progress toward Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). In a newly released memo, Brin outlines the urgency and expectations for Google's AI teams.Brin emphasizes the need for 60-hour work weeks, daily office attendance, and faster execution by prioritizing simple solutions, code efficiency, and small-scale experiments for faster iteration. He calls for a shift away from “nanny products” and urges teams to “trust our users” more.Brin, who has no formal role at Google beyond a board seat, stepped in over the head of Google DeepMind, Demis Hassabis, signaling the urgency of the AGI race."I think we have all the ingredients to wHosts: Paul J Daly and Kyle MountsierGet the Daily Push Back email at https://www.asotu.com/ JOIN the conversation on LinkedIn at: https://www.linkedin.com/company/asotu/ Read our most recent email at: https://www.asotu.com/media/push-back-email

Landbrugspodcasten har samlet to avlsnørder i studiet. Landbrugspodcasten har samlet to avlsnørder i studiet. Shoot us a Text. The end of the year is finally here, and so we're looking back, covering the top 10 best-selling vehicles of 2024. Plus, we talk about a unique $0 down and $0 monthly payment Fiat lease as well as reflect on some of our most memorable moments.Show Notes with links:Hybrid electric-gas cars had a banner year in 2024, achieving record sales. With a shift in buyer demographics, these vehicles bridged the gap for consumers seeking efficiency and practicality without fully committing to electric vehicles.A shift from early adopters to budget-conscious shoppers drove hybrid demand. Many buyers appreciated the lower costs and simpler integration into daily life compared to EVs.Here are 2024's top 10 best-selling vehicles. 10. Chevy Equinox. 9. Honda Civic 8. Nissan Rogue 7. Toyota Camry 6. Toyota Corolla 5. Tesla Model Y (only true EV on the list) 4. Chevy Silverado 1500 3. Honda CR-V 2. Toyota RAV4 1. Ford F-150 (America's best-selling vehicle for 47 years, with 20% of buyers opting for the hybrid version)The top three all have hybrid options that did especially well this year, and about half of all RAV4 and CR-V sales are hybrids, according to Edmunds.“Hybrids this year became an extremely easy default decision for someone who doesn't want to go full electric but wants basically 70% or 80% of benefits” said Ivan Drury of Edmunds.Who says driving electric has to break the bank? A Fiat dealership in Colorado pulled off the seemingly impossible: a lease deal on the 2024 Fiat 500e that truly costs $0 down and $0 a month. The deal covers a 27-month term, 10,000 miles per year, with just $1,300 in state taxes and fees due upfront.Larry H. Miller Chrysler-Dodge-Ram-Fiat Denver moved over 60 cars in three days, using over $15,000 in federal and state incentives, plus factory discounts, to enable this unheard-of lease offer.Colorado's state incentives decrease in 2025, and federal EV credits are under scrutiny, meaning deals like this are less likely in the future.David Gluckman of Car & Driver leased one of the cars, and commented on the dealership's challenges with such a unique agreement: “I was warned, apologetically, that there was a chance I might have to re-sign some of the paperwork because the dealer's computer system didn't know how to handle a lease with no payment… A funny formality: They still had to run a credit check to confirm my ability to (not) pay.”As we close out the year, we look back at some of our most memorable moments. With 2025 just around the corner its worth reminding potential car buyers thatthere is still some 2023 build stock in the market and if you are in the market tobuy a new car its worth checking the build plate on the model you buy. A 2023build car purchased in 2025 has already suffered two years depreciation so youneed a better than average discount. Some car makers are offering incentives onold stock – Honda for example is offering drive-away discounts on its 2023-buildZR-V and CR-V mid-size SUV’s – $2,500 to $3,000 off their respective drive-awayprice plus five complimentary scheduled services worth $995, and providing afurther $2,500 contribution when you purchase them through Honda FinancialServices. All 2023 ZR-V and CR-V models also come with an extended eight-yearunlimited kilometre warranty and eight-years roadside assistance. If you've worked closely with a product team, chances are that secret management has been a topic that you've had to wrangle with at some point. Either because your development or deployment teams don't have access to the right secrets, and that slows down how quickly you can get your code to production or worse because your secrets were exposed to the public and put your data and your customer's data at risk through a data breach. In this episode of the Convergence Podcast, Ashok welcomes Brian Vallelunga, CEO of Doppler, to discuss the too-often overlooked topic of secret management in software development. Before founding Doppler in 2018, Brian was a lead engineer at Uber, where he worked on special projects for the C-suite. Doppler is a secret office platform backed by industry heavy hitting venture capitalists like CRV, Google Ventures, Sequoia, Greylock, Kleiner Perkins and they're also a Y Combinator company. Brian shares insights on why development teams frequently struggle with managing secrets like API keys and database credentials, and he explains the far-reaching consequences of poor product security—ranging from data breaches to production slowdowns. Brian also discusses the importance of proactively training teams and developing secure workflows, providing real-life examples of high-profile data breaches at companies like Twitter and Toyota. Brian outlines 4 essential questions executives and senior engineers should ask to safeguard their systems. From developing playbooks for responding to breaches to ensuring secret rotation, this episode is packed with actionable advice for both technical and non-technical leaders. SEASON 5 Episode 6# We loved talking with Nancy - she relays the most incredible experiences in a calm, matter of fact way. Her life journey has carried her from rational law and business practice through to the paranormal, psychic and mediumship, and the unexplainable beyond. Nancy is an attorney, specialised in securities litigation, who became a psychic detective, spiritual medium, remote viewer trained in military-style CRV and ARV, medical intuitive, and paranormal investigator. She works with law enforcement and victims' families on missing persons/homicide cases. Nancy teaches psychic development and mediumship classes, lectures on topics including psychic work, paranormal investigation, remote viewing, and ufology with a focus on comparative linguistic studies of alien languages. A former CBS radio show host of "Hot Leads Cold Cases," Nancy has appeared frequently on internet, radio and TV. She is a magna cum laude graduate of Princeton University and an honors published Law Review graduate of Pace Law School. Nancy also founded a local environmental group and sits on her local government.Nancy did not start out her life as a "psychic" - she became psychic through years of training! She is a firm believer that psychic ability is a natural human trait that most of us lose in a kind of mental trade-off as we develop our cognitive, linguistic, intellectual abilities. Consequently, as Nancy demonstrates in her book "Psychic Intuition," psychic ability can be re-learned by all of us. It is a trainable skill. The book takes the reader on a fascinating journey into the fields of neuroscience, psychology, language and psychic phenomena. The book is intended to bridge the gap between skeptics and believers. She became fascinated with the topic of alien communication after a major sighting of a football-field-sized UFO in 2011, and subsequently received a number of electronic-sounding communications over the phone along with her daughter who also witnessed the event. Her book "How to Talk to an Alien" represents a ground-breaking journey into the field of alien communication, spoken, written and telepathic based upon case historiesNancy's books Nancy's website : The Skeptical Psychic original music by: BabygreenFind & Support - Off World Link and your own non-physical potential... ko-fiSupport the Show.Support the Show.
