When people make a list of iconic American presidents, the subject of this week's movie is on most of them. Dennis Quaid plays our 40th American president, Ronald Reagan, in the long-coming movie “Reagan.” This movie doesn't just tell the tale of the presidential years of Reagan. It spans his life from when he was a young boy up until his death. We see his humble beginnings in Iowa to him realizing he needs to stand up to bullies, including the Soviet Union. Even as far back as when he was simply known as an actor, he saw the Soviet Union attempting, and succeeding, to infiltrate many institutions in America, including Hollywood. He knew they were trying to turn America into another Soviet Union and he fought it. Later we see him meet the love of his life Nancy and it's made apparent that she stands behind him in everything he does. Of course, the movie features the Reagan most people over a certain age know. The California governor and our president. Does this movie do this American icon justice? Check out this episode to find out. “Reagan” also stars Penelope Ann Miller, Mena Suvari, C. Thomas Howell, Amanda Righetti, Jon Voight, Justin Chatwin, Kevin Dillon, Kevin Sorbo, Xander Berkeley, Lesley-Anne Down and Robert Davi. Listen to the inspiring true story of the 40th President of the United States. Listen and hear how his relationship with his mom, his marriage to Nancy, and his faith in Jesus impacted the rest of his life! I urge you to go to the movies with your family this weekend and share the amazing story of how The Great Communicator changed the world!!! :)
Tomorrow, August 30, 2024, the movie REAGAN will be released in theaters nationwide. REAGAN is a cinematic journey of overcoming the odds. The movie is told through the voice of Viktor Petrovich, a former KGB agent whose life becomes inextricably linked with Ronald Reagan's when Ronald Reagan first caught the Soviets' attention as an actor in Hollywood and stars Dennis Quaid, Jon Voight, Penelope Ann Miller, Mena Suvari, Lesley-Anne Down, David Henrie and Kevin Dilon. A month earlier, on July 25, 2024, a handful of the Reagan movie cast joined us at the Reagan Library for an in-person moderated discussion about the film and their roles. During the program, cast members Dennis Quaid, who plays Ronald Reagan, Elya Baskin who plays a soviet defector, Amanda Righetti who plays Nelle Reagan, and Will Wallace who plays Ed Meese, sat down in conversation with Reagan Foundation and Institute President and CEO David Trulio to share these stories and more.
For actor Amanda Righetti, her way into character has changed over time. With credits in some of television's biggest hits including "The O.C.", "The Mentalist", "Reunion", "North Shore", "Entourage" and film credits that include "Friday the 13th", "Captain America" and more, Amanda says that she's grown in her craft right alongside this ever-changing industry. In today's episode we discuss holding deals, self-tapes, and how Amanda prepped for her historical role in "Reagan" in just four days. While her approach to character has shifted and deepened over time, she reminds us that technique is ultimately whatever works for you. These are the unforgettable stories that landed Amanda Righetti right here. Credits: Reagan Colony The Mentalist Captain America: The First Avenger Friday the 13th L.A.'s Finest The O.C. Does it work? Well… try finding the pilot anywhere other than YouTube and let us know what you think. Jason Matthews (Kristoffer Polaha) runs the Grand Waimea Hotel and Resort in this prime-time soap. Arriving to shake things up is his ex, Nicole Booth (Brooke Burns), who takes a job as the resort's director of guest relations. Resort owner Vincent Colville (James Remar) keeps an eye on his employees (Jason Momoa and Amanda Righetti) to make sure their past history doesn't affect their work. The Back To The Blockbuster team is taking a trip back to Camp Crystal Lake to talk the 15th anniversary of the Friday The 13th remake. Directed by Marcus Nispel, the film stars Jared Padalecki, Danielle Panabaker, Aaron Yoo, Amanda Righetti, Travis Van Winkle, Ben Feldman, Willa Ford, and Derek Mears. The movie follows Clay Miller (Padalecki) as he searches for his missing sister, Whitney (Righetti), who is captured by Jason Voorhees (Mears) while camping in woodland Crystal Lake. We didn't want to explore Crystal Lake alone so are once again joined by Alex and Dean of the Return Revenge Resurrection Podcast to determine if this reboot is a trip worth taking 15 years later.
Amanda Righetti stopped by the pod this week to talk about her role as Hailey Nichols on the hit FOX show, The OC. We also chatted about her time on North Shore, doing her own stunts in Friday the 13th, and how streaming will continue to change the movie and television landscape.

Rachel and Melinda are joined by Amanda Righetti, who played Hailey Nichol on The OC, to discuss “The Shower,” (S1 Ep25). See how it all began for Amanda with a deal with Fox, which landed her on The OC for her first major acting role. And then, how that same deal, took her away from the show! What was it like playing a role much older than she was? A role where she had to make out with Tate Donovan? Listen to find out! Melinda and Amanda skip ahead to discuss their iconic catfight scene in The Strip. They also reminisce about her role as a stripper on The L.A. and Hailey's devious ways sending Kirsten and Sandy to a swingers party in The Countdown. Their conversation takes a serious turn when the hosts and Amanda address Theresa's domestic abuse storyline in The Shower, as well as the prevalence of this abuse in today's society. On a lighter note, they discuss the concept of a best friend, and everyone's surprise when Julie tells Kirsten she's her Maid of Honor! And of course, the most awkward lunch ever with Seth and Summer's dad must be discussed! The Shower Synopsis: Reluctantly, Kirsten and Marissa must throw a bridal shower for Julie. Marissa invites a surprise guest, Aunt Cindy, as a way to spite her mom. Seth meets Summer's father at a lunch so awkward, it's hard to watch. Theresa enlists Sandy's legal advice when Eddie hits her, and Ryan wants to take matters into his own hands.
For this, the last show of 2022, Andi and Lise watched some LGBTQ Holiday (Christmas) movies based on a list published by Cosmopolitan Magazine (we know. We were all “WHAT?” too). They chat about the movies they saw, and throw out some other recommendations (also on the list). And also, Happy Holidays to all y'all! Cosmopolitan list of LGBTQ movies list HERE. Lise: A New York Christmas Wedding (2020) – Alt-timeline to show the lead what could have been. None of this should have worked, but somehow it did. Nia Fairweather as the lead and Adriana DeMeo as the love interest. Majority Black and Latinx cast. Trailer HERE. See it on Netflix. Under the Christmas Tree (2021) – classic holiday rom-com tropes, but really cute film and the leads have great chemistry. Elise Bauman as the lead, Tattiawna Jones as the love interest, and fun supporting cast including Ricki Lake. Trailer HERE. See it on Hulu. Let it Snow (2019) – Rom-com based on the 2008 YA novel Let it Snow: Three Holiday Romances, the film follows 6 people in the same town during a snowstorm and their evolving stories. Fun. Trailer HERE. See it on Netflix. Andi: Christmas at the Ranch (2021) – another classic holiday rom-com trope by Tello Films: city girl returns to the ranch where she grew up to try to save it from financial trouble. Fluffy with fun characters. Laur Allen as the city girl and Amanda Righetti as the ranch hand country mouse. Supporting characters include Lindsey Wagner (The Bionic Woman, y'all!) and Archie Kao. Trailer HERE. See it on Peacock, Prime, or Apple TV. The Bitch Who Stole Christmas (2021) – The drag show Christmas movie you've been waiting for. Hilarious, raunchy, over-the-top dragfest in which RuPaul as evil editor sends reporter to a small town to dig up dirt on its winter ball celebration, which features a cast of queens from Drag Race. Trailer HERE. Rent it on Apple TV; buy it on Prime. You can still find us on Twitter: @LGOPodcast, @andimarquette, @LiseMacTague. Also, Lise's latest book (paranormal werewolves!) drops just in time for Christmas! Find more info about Winter's Moons at Bella Books HERE! Shout-out to everybody this holiday season and we hope you find time to have some fun!
In this episode, actress Laur Allen shares her personal story of her family culture growing up, and what inspired her to integrate law and media in creating a positive impact in the AAPI community. Laur is an LA native of Chinese, British, and Hungarian-Jewish heritage. As an actress, Laur made her network TV debut as the recurring character "Juliet Helton" on CBS's "The Young and the Restless." You can find her starring most recently in the LGBTQ+ holiday romcom "Christmas at the Ranch," alongside Amanda Righetti, Lindsay Wagner, and Archie Kao. Laur was the first mixed-ethnicity Miss Los Angeles Chinatown Queen and proudly went on to represent the Los Angeles Chinese community at the Miss Chinese International Pageant in Hong Kong. Her involvement with these cultural pageants inspired her to continue working with the Southern California Chinese community to this day and also to pivot her career from behind-the-camera to acting. Prior to acting, Laur worked as a production assistant, then in production and development, and finally in the television marketing department at Sony Pictures Entertainment. While working on "The Young and The Restless," Laur began law school at USC Gould School of Law, and in February 2021, she was admitted as a member of the State Bar of CA. With a strong passion for advocacy, Laur aspires to create an empowering platform, incorporating both acting and law, through which she can make a positive humanitarian impact and represent her community.

THE OCD 74:Music From The OC: Mix 3Mike and Ryan tackle The OC: Mix 3! Halloween has come and gone, and now it's time to listen to Christmas music. Luckily, Josh Schwarz and The OC crew hooked us up. That's right, eight (8!) songs for all of those moments where you are stringing popcorn for Christmas tree decorations because obviously you're poor and also don't have to worry about Cornin' Rats, the rats that only eat popcorn. They're scary, but far less scary than Rattin' Corn, the popcorn that only eats rats. Anyway...no Rooney on this one. Sorry. Mike and Ryan take a break from reviewing episodes to do a very special "Where Are They Now?" Over the course of the first fifty episodes of The OCD, Mike and Ryan have had to say goodbye to so many different characters. Tonight, they'll pause their journey of watching every single episode of The OC, and try to figure out where all of those people are right now. What happened to Luke? Where is Anna From Pittsburgh in 2019?
