In this episode of "Agony Aunties," we're responding to a listener's question about maintaining a relationship with their son's ex-girlfriend. While it's understandable to want to maintain a connection with someone that you personally don't have any issues with, and while we don't know all of the ins and outs of the situation, what arises in us is the importance to be aware of the complexity of such dynamics post-breakup, to consider the son's feelings, and to be aware of the the potential for confusion on the ex's part. We'll be expanding on these ideas in the episode, so give it a listen, and if you have any questions of your own, please send them in to jsamuelpod@gmail.com. Learn more about your ad choices. B Cox reviews Lauryn Hill's classic debut album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill as turns 25. After a a breakout classic album The Score with The Fugees and a worldwide successful tour, the singer-emcee found herself at a crossroads as she found herself not only in a new relationship with Rohan Marley, but also pregnant. During pregnancy, she took a hiatus from touring and recording and spent time writing for what would be her debut album. After giving birth to her son Zion, she began the process of putting together her album with musicians, vocalists and producers at work to help craft her vision. The album was recored partially in New York, with the rest of the album being recorded in Kingston, Jamaica at Tuff Gong studios.Utilizing all of her talents, Hill presented the world with her version of her vision, an hour plus opus that covered all of her talents and passions: emceeing, singing, writing and producing. The fusion of sounds of hip-hop, R&B, neo-soul and reggae made for a unicorn of an album. Her themes touched on love, heartbreak, disappointment, confusion and exultation around relationships. Joining her on this album would be the company of fellow legends: guitarist Carlos Santana, Mary J. Blige, D'Angelo as well as featured artists and musicians and producers such as Che "Che Guevera" Pope, James Poyser, "Commissioner" Gordon Williams and John Legend among others. The album featured up to six singles which became staples of the album: "Lost Ones", "Ex-Factor", "Doo Wap (That Thing)", "Everything Is Everything", "Nothing Even Matters", "For Zion". The album was an immediate commercial and critical success, becoming multiple platinum by the end of the millennium and winning five Grammys at the 1999 Grammy Awards. It is now RIAA-certified diamond and has sold over 20 million copies worldwide. While it remains her only studio album, it continues to reverberate today with its legacy and it often sighted on many lists as one of the greatest music albums of all-time.Visit The Vault Classic Music Reviews Onlinewww.vaultclassicpod.comBuy Exclusive The Vault Podcast Merchandise!www.vaultclassicpod.com/storeSupport The Vault Classic Music Reviews on Buy Me A Coffeehttps://www.buymeacoffee.com/vaultclassicpodBuild Your Own Amazing Podcast Website In Less Than 5 Minutes!https://www.podpage.com/?via=ivecre8Show NotesAlbumism: Lauryn Hill's debut album "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill" Turns 25 | Album Anniversaryhttps://albumism.com/features/lauryn-hill-debut-solo-album-the-miseducation-of-lauryn-hill-album-anniversaryThe Grio: The Gospel According To Lauryn Hillhttps://thegrio.com/2023/08/25/the-gospel-according-to-lauryn-how-the-scriptures-influenced-the-miseducation-of-lauryn-hill/The Root: The Evolution of Lauryn Hillhttps://www.theroot.com/the-evolution-of-lauryn-hill-1850768001EuroNews: How Lauryn Hill Revolutionized Hip-Hop 25 Years Agohttps://www.euronews.com/culture/2023/08/25/culture-re-view-how-lauryn-hill-revolutionised-hip-hop-25-years-agoBET: 'The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill" Turns 25https://www.bet.com/article/7uq9da/the-miseducation-of-lauryn-hill-turns-25-how-a-classic-debut-galvanized-a-generation-of-black-women-and-changed-hip-hopSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/the-vault-classic-music-reviews-podcast/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

"The Black Man Talking Emotions Podcast" Starring Dom L'Amour
It could all be so simple, but you'd rather make it hard. That's the last thing you said and it's playing on repeat in your head constantly. How could you say that. How could you push someone away because you are scared. It's new, that's ok. No need to self destruct. Breathe, believe in something. Build a new bridge and give your heart. Care like you never have before, cry and never wipe away the tears because those tears are there to remind you that you are a fighter and you believe in this foreign language. Rosetta Stone doesn't have a tape for this. It's up to you to study. Listen. Believe that no one loves you more then her. And no one ever will. Scream inside, push the boundaries. Let go and watch the flood gates catch you. Try to walk away and notice that pull on your shoulders guiding you in the proper direction. You can't be with no one else. Don't hurt yourself because it's crazy to believe that she isn't there for you. She cares for you, she's there for you, She gives to you, she cries for you, she would die for you but you need to convince her to Live for you. This is crazy. I know what I've got to do. No matter how you think it will go, there's always room to learn and grow. And if You start to walk away, just calm yourself; she is worth that step. It could all be so simple. Let go.Poem by. This episode is one I've been grappling with for many years. It's hard to see friendships go, especially the ones we were in for the long haul. The truth is, death is a natural process to the flow of life and that goes for anything that ends...which is everything. Death of friendships can come about in many different ways. It could end in a drag out blow out. It could end slowly over time and slip away into the abyss. Or it could be the realization that we are no longer in alignment with someone else and so we gracefully remove ourselves. We could at either end of these situations at any time and it doesn't hurt any less. The truth is, losing friendships sucks! In this episode, I discuss why and how these things happen, the relationship to age and maturity, and touch on a few ways that I have experienced this in my own life. Just know, it's ok that friendships die. It's all part of this thing we call life. Please follow, subscribe, share, or leave a review! I hope you enjoy and I'll see you next time. My firm, The eX Factor was born as a result of realizing that I have so many eXponential skills, experiences, and talents that I had let lay dormant while I focused my life and career on what everyone else needed from me. After I experienced a tumultuous divorce, I recognized that God created me for a divine purpose and it is my job to step into that purpose. I've found that so many of us are suffering in silence, while we have everything that we need to be happy, whole, and successful, right in front of us.
Who's got the Ex-Factor? ❌ Ling, for one, who's ex is supposed to getting married but can't just quit Ling (who can?!). ❌ But also Larry, because guess what, everyone's fave Detroit homewrecker is back in town, and BOY ARE WE MAD ABOUT IT! ❌ Today, we're discussing S4E10: The Ex-Files. *** FIND US ON THE INTERNET!
We've all been there, romanticizing the past with an ex-relationship, whether it be a friend, partner, or family member. It's our instinct to want to manifest people back into our life when their sudden absence leaves us with discomfort and longing. In this episode, we encourage you to take time for yourself to learn about what you want, what you don't want and pour love into yourself when you find yourself yearning for someone that has left your life. Things that are meant for you find a way of coming back to you. Things that are meant to stay only for a little while are meant to be let go of. It all comes down to embracing that absence when people leave your life and filling it up by taking space for yourself. Instead of jumping into manifesting someone back into your life, take a minute to really see the role they played and how it made you feel. Sound edited and mixed by Nitya Patlola.
