Yes, another long hiatus. But hopefully Matt and Joe made it worth it. They talk about the 2025 Summer Tour with a heavy emphasis on the tour-closing Gorge weekend. They go deep on just how meaningful that BTCS playthrough was, the concept of the Divergence Factor (and just how unique this band is!), and again debate the likelihood of the violin returning. It's a jam-packed (ha!) show, you won't want to miss this one!

Will NC State players rise to the occasion and show their potential? With so many questions about where Pack football can we expect clear-cut answers this season? And, is "Ants Marching" relatable when it comes to Dave Doeren's 13th season in Raleigh? That you'll have to answer for yourself. Special guest Evan from Red & White Podcast joins Will and Jim on ACC Nation to preview the Wolfpack. Up front we examine the changes in coaching, schemes and infusion of players from the Transfer Portal. There are big questions regarding personnel plugging into the schemes and perhaps bigger ones regarding those players and the depth needed to keep the engine chugging. NC State Among the question marks there is CJ Bailey at quarterback. Has he developed in the off-season. How about the running backs? There's Hollywood Smothers but can you expect him to tote the rock 40 times a game without losing him to injury? What about incoming Duke Scott who is described as explosive. Can a freshman be successfully paired with Smothers to generate a ground and pound offense? The schedule is both agreeable and disconcerting depending on where you start. NC State looks like they'll be bowl bound again but will it be as ESPN's FPI projects, a 6-6 season? Evan gives us his thoughts on each game and what might give the team the edge. Be sure to subscribe to the podcast, listen to us on streaming radio or watch ACC Nation on YouTube. Like, follow and as always, we look forward to your comments on YT.

In Episode 132 of the Award Travel 101 podcast, host Mike Zaccheo is joined by community member Heather Killingbeck to dive into how her passion for the Dave Matthews Band (DMB) intersects with her love of points and miles. Heather shares how a spontaneous trip to a DMB show in Mexico led to meaningful friendships and a realization that she needed to make concert travel more affordable—enter points and miles. She's since used over half a million points, possibly up to a million, to follow the band to iconic venues like The Gorge and even on a European tour, with award redemptions taking her to Amsterdam, Paris, and Lisbon. Her go-to strategy includes the Southwest Companion Pass, Hyatt Globalist perks, and travel hacking tools to make the most of every trip, all while juggling work, family, and parent guilt. The episode also covers major news in the points world: the launch of Citi's new Strata Elite card with a hefty bonus, luxury perks, and the surprise reintroduction of American Airlines as a 1:1 transfer partner with Citi ThankYou Points. Heather shares recent bonuses she's earned, trip updates including an upcoming return to Baha Mar for Thanksgiving, and her unforgettable award-based travels. From crowdstrike flight chaos to lounge sprints and missed connections that turned into bonus nights, her stories highlight both the joys and unpredictability of award travel. The episode closes on a reflective note, encouraging listeners to "chase the joy," whether through a favorite band, a shared hobby, or the travel communities that make it all possible.Links to Topics DicussedComedian Experience Luxury Hotels with his "Sapphire Points"Citi Strata Elite LaunchesWhere to Find Us The Free 110k+ member Award Travel 101 Community. Colin reports back on his trip to London, On where theyve converted an apartment building into Supportive Housing Units. These units are designed for the homeless to have a safe place to recover after a visit to the hospital. We discuss the unfortunate reality where there is always someone that can make a group of people look bad, sort of like Dane Cook's bit, “Brian's Coming”. Is working at work always necessary? Does it always mean better work? We discussed a lot about work and jobs and terrible bosses and the book “Bullshit Jobs” by David Graeber. If your job disappeared, would the world notice? "When you switch the gear of what you're operating on from the memorized information to the gear of intuitive, faithful response, it's a whole different frequency that's emitted from the hands and from the soul," country shredder Daniel Donato expresses on this episode of Wong Notes. He's talking about what makes for powerful improvisation, and if you know anything about the guitarist, you know this insight around the topic is coming from someone who's a master on their instrument.Throughout his conversation with Cory, Donato shares his uniquely intellectual philosophies about music, explaining what it means to exploit versus explore creatively, how lessons in faith and trust of his bandmates came to supersede his knowledge around music, and how "listening and alignment" of one vision is most important when jamming with others. He also sheds light on his experiences working with producers Robben Ford and Vance Powell, and the different collaborative dynamics he had with both.Following an emphatic statement from Cory that he has always, always been loyal to Dave Matthews Band, and a comment from Daniel on how a drummer really is at the core of a successful jam, Daniel elaborates: "The song is a vehicle for a spirit." He says Carter Beauford's performance on "Ants Marching" on DMB's first live album, Remember Two Things, which features an extended 2 and 4 pattern in the intro, perfectly serves the song. "I need players that are very spiritually and emotionally vulnerable," says Donato, "and willing to do things that are abstract and left-field that wouldn't be intuitive."Clearly an admirer of Cory's work, Daniel has some questions for him towards the end of the interview. Then, Cory quizzes Daniel on gear that he finds essential. His response? Whatever feels like the right pick to you, Mogami cables, and, if money isn't an object, a Fender black-panel. Tune in for the full Donato experience.Listen to the full episode here: https://bit.ly/WongNotesGet 30% off your first year of DistroKid by going here: http://distrokid.com/vip/corywongVisit Daniel Donato: https://danieldonato.com/Hit us up: wongnotes@premierguitar.comVisit Cory: https://www.corywongmusic.comVisit Premier Guitar:

The current extreme heat may or may not be a result of DMB's recent run of form. It's been a month of shows and news and we're here to recap all the highlights and do some deeper examination, from Camden, the Northeast, Deer Creek, Alpine and SPAC and everything in between. There have been over 20 new tour debuts, including a song last played in 2012. Plus we get a new behind the scenes glimpse into a tool Dave uses for selecting songs for each show, ie the "Yellow and Red Songs". We explain and break it down.

Two discs that contain genuine unreleased studio recordings from the Mark Batson era are making their rounds on the Internet. And so we had to call an emergency podcast session to talk about this latest development. In this pod we talk about the history of these sessions dating back to 2006 and what we know up to this point. Also high-level feelings about the recordings, but a much deeper look into why there is a stark difference between the amount of music the band creates vs how much it releases.

We try not to let the loss of an Ants staple get us down, so we remember the great times it created. We say goodbye to Mono Loco, the Ants HQ of Charlottesville, VA and a place where so many Ants met and celebrated together. But back on tour, four new shows are in the books and we discuss if there is such a thing as a SPAC hangover. Plus, the tour takes on a new ‘guests' theme, and one particular show gets some unwanted attention. Also, Dave makes new comments about Boyd's exit, drama in the setlist game standings, and we take on your #AntsPodcast questions.

Man, has the band put in some extra work recently. Days after the Creekend, DMB plays the first two Canada shows, followed by the tour staple 2-night stand at SPAC, immediately capped by the final Canada show. The run produces the most interesting week of shows we've had all tour, so we must Dive In. Also, live show streams become more frequent than shows attended by Matt, but some exciting news on that front. And it wouldn't be an Ants Podcast if we didn't go on a bunch of tangents throughout. Plus we announce some new DMB Hub Stubs coming out!
