My guest today is a Gen X legend and someone I've been a little bit obsessed with ever since I saw her star in the definitive (late) 80s movie, Say Anything. Ione Skye. There was a time when It seemed like if there was a hot young actor - John Cusack, River Phoenix, Keanu Reeves - she got to snog them on screen. (I know, shallow, much.) Ione has spent her life in the centre of the Venn diagram of film, music and celebrity. The daughter of 60s superstar Donovan, she famously dated Red Hot Chilli Peppers' Anthony Keidis finding herself both babysitter and breadwinner at just 16. She followed that with an ill-fated marriage to Beastie Boy Ad-Rock (Adam Horowitz). But there is so much more to Ione than all those male name drops. She has starred in some of the most significant movies of their generation. She has worked with the likes of Sofia Coppola, Chloe Sevigny, Lena Dunham and Madonna. She's written children's books, directed short films and is an accomplished painter. Not to mention podcaster. (She hosts the podcast Weirder Together with her partner, Ben Lee.) Oh, and I do just have to say that as a child she only lived next door to the iconic writer Eve Babitz! Anyway It all adds up to one fascinating tumultuous story. One she's addressed extremely candidly in her new memoir, Say Everything. See what she did there? Ione joined me from LA to talk about growing up in the 80s and 90s, being a nepo baby before nepo babies were a thing, having it all, losing it all and getting some of it back, what she's learnt from her Gen Z daughters and finally coming into herself in her 50s. * You can buy all the books mentioned in this podcast at The Shift bookshop on Bookshop.org, including Say Everything by Ione Skye and the book that inspired this podcast, The Shift: how I lost and found myself after 40 - and you can too, by me. * If you enjoyed this episode and you fancy buying me a coffee, pop over to my page on buymeacoffee.com. • And if you'd like to support the work that goes into making this podcast and get a weekly newsletter plus loads more content including exclusive transcripts of the podcast, why not join The Shift community, come and have a look around at www.theshiftwithsambaker.substack.com • The Shift (on life after 40) with Sam Baker is created and hosted by Sam Baker and edited by Juliette Nicholls at Pineapple Production. Hey guys! Nate here. I just wanted to let you know that this is not going to be a regular episode - this is actually an episode from Patreon that we did about the 4th wizards rule, you know the one that says there's magic in forgiveness? ANYWAY It was SUPPOSED to be uploaded last week but due to my sometimes - how should I say "forgetful nature" - that didn't happen. But I figured it was better late than never and I wanted to give you guys a chance to see what we're up to over there. If you enjoy this episode please consider going over to Patreon.com/podcastatt and making a pledge. You'll get episodes just like this, including regular ad free episodes, access to the Discord channel, and Legend Of The Seeker Watchalongs. I know! There's so much cool stuff but I won't take up anymore time here, I hope you enjoy the episode - and if for some reason you don't, just know I forgive you.

This is an audio version of our YouTube video. Euro 2020 betting tips, picks and predictions from Oddspedia on Group E & D's Matchday 2 fixtures: Hungary vs France, Portugal vs Germany & Spain vs Poland. We're going to be bringing you our best betting tips and predictions for one Group E game and the two Group F games on Matchday 2 at Euro 2020. We'll start in Group E. We're fond of Group E. Some say we've got Groupie Love. Anyway… It's Spain vs Poland; and the Spaniards really do need to put their shooting boots on after their attacking duo of Alvaro Morata and Gerard Moreno both fluffed their lines in their competition opener against Sweden in a 0-0 draw. Juve striker Morata missed a sitter from the edge of the box in the first half and was withdrawn around the hour mark, only to be replaced by Villarreal hotshot Moreno. However, the Europa League winner also missed his header from inside the 6-yard box that would have won them the match. But he didn't. La Roja take on Poland, a side that consistently fail to impress on the international stage. In fact, despite them having the world's greatest striker - Robert Lewandowski - playing up front for them, their history at major tournaments of scoring goals looks more like a binary code than anything to write home about. Both sides will be desperate to secure all three points in this one. Let's take a look at Group F now and we'll start with Hungary against France. The Hungarians were competitive, solid and disciplined defensively in their clash with Portugal in the Group F opener. They managed to keep Portugal at bay until around the 70th minutes, however once the first goal went in, the floodgates opened and they went to went on to lose 3-0. Despite this, many will have been impressed with their resolute and solid display in the Euro 2020 opener. France on the other hand, did well to finally put away Germany. They huffed and they puffed but finally they found a breakthrough. They even had two goals (fairly) ruled out for offside. N'Golo Kante and Paul Pogba were superb as midfield pivot. Much more of that, please and thank you. Finally let's take a look at Germany vs Portugal, this has all the ingredients for an absolute classic between two heavyweights on the European stage. As mentioned, Portugal won and Germany lost in their opening clashes. The bookies still expect Germany to do well at the tournament, presumably because they expect Joachim Low's side to earn 3 points against Hungary next time out and therefore qualify as one of the best 3rd place finishes. It might not be that easy! Our resident host Eduardo Siles is back to preview all the best action across Euro 2020. For our Group E & Group F preview, he's joined by German football and betting expert Radek Vegas. All our experts are here to preview, discuss, analyse and dissect every fixture of the European Championships in 2021. They're also on hand to provide betting tips, odds, picks and predictions. We start hour two by talking Derek Carr and AB's first meeting and how that should go later today. We take a listen to AB and his excitement to meet Gruden and his new teammates...but the new league year doesn't start until tomorrow soooo ILLEGAL. Crowley also breaks us the news that AB has dyed his mustaches back to black. Well he either dyed it back or it's operating like some sort of mood ring. A moodstache. Anyway It's then time for the great unsponsored football segment filled with knowledge and fun brought to you by to be determined that sneaks in one burning question!

I continue to be confused as to whether anyone reads these summaries. Anyway: It's been almost four years since we moved to the island from San Francisco. Two or three nights after we moved, my wife and I took the ferry into Seattle to attend a dinner for a friend's non-profit. It was so fun! And we met lots of fascinating people. These included: a very kind muckety muck at Starbucks; podcaster-rockstar double-threat John Roderick; and a wonderful guy who worked for Pearl Jam. A great many quintessentially Seattle-seeming things were happening in that one room. The experience left me exhilarated and optimistic; I thought to myself, “Wowzers! I just got here and I'm already having dinner with someone high up in the Pearl Jam organization!” Four years later, I get into Seattle very rarely and live a pretty quiet life on the island. Do I feel like I'm missing out sometimes? Absolutely. Is this the life I imagined for myself? No way. Still, I'm happy. I feel lucky. I take a lot of nice walks. So...did I change? I changed by not changing at all. Small town predicts my fate. Special thanks to this week's guests: Michael Barbaro and a mylar balloon whose flying days are through. This week's walk is sponsored by my old neighbor, San Francisco-based certified professional life coach Pam Daghlian. Saluton and Happy "Things That Are Done at This Time Of Year" to you! Estas mi, your host Tyson Saner, and welcome to the last epi of Succotash, The Comedy Soundcast Soundcast, of 2018. What a year it has been…and that's at least partially because I took over hosting and main production duties during this year approximately 10 months ago. I hadn't really been thinking about how much time had actually elapsed because it, like everything else seems to just keep happening. It does seem to feel like less time than a year has passed because it has…that's pretty logical…beep boop… ANYWAY…It's a show chock full of content including clips from Chillpak Hollywood Hour, Just Say Words, 2DudeReview, Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend, The Podcast Brothers and Thought Spiral. In addition, we have a double dose of raging moderate Will Durst's Burst O' Durst. (Incidentally, if you live in or are visiting the San Francisco Bay Area, Durst is ring master for the annual Big Fat Year End Kiss Off Show, a comedy revue of holiday proportions that plays in a different venue around the area starting on Wednesday, December 26. Click over to http://WillDurst.com for details…) We've also got a very "This Time Of Year-y" Henderson's Pants ad from waaaaay back in 2012 (I think) and, of course, a reading from our most recent sponsor, TrumPoetry.com. SIDEBAR Listeners of past episodes of Succotash might remember the soundcasts Trevor Has Friends and Just Joshin' being featured in episodes 172 and 177, respectively. These are both comedy soundcasts from over at Savage Henry Magazine , a humor magazine produced locally here in Humboldt County. It's a free publication that has been published with regularity since it was first published in 2010. It was founded by Chris Durant, Sarah Godlin, Monica Durant, and Josh Duke. I follow the magazine on Instagram at @savagehenrymagazine and I came across this post from December 16th, 2018: "Monica, (@moneycuz) co-founder of the magazine and the glue that has kept it all together for all these years, is sick. She can use your help if you're in position to do so. She's dealing with liver failure and is facing a transplant. Links to donation sites in comments. Thank you for being a fan of Savage Henry and your support." It's a modest goal of $10K and if you're wondering about specifics, on the page I just specified there was an update made on December 16th, 2018 which reads: "Wow everyone. I'm am so relieved by the outpouring of help in so many forms. This is a crazy time. A major surgery, a month or more of intensive therapy and monitoring, a year till projected recovery, and a lifetime of medications are daunting goals and having some weight lifted financially is a HUGE COMFORT!!! Thank you." As of December 17th, 2018 they are at 33% of their goal. They've been doing the show for more than 11 years, week in and week out, engaging in thought-provoking, insightful, and irreverent cultural conversation. Our clip is from recent Epi603, where the gents discuss the death and life of U.S. President George H.W. Bush, the forthcoming film Vice, the live variety stage show Phil produced on his 50th birthday, Dean's efforts to pack up his L.A. abode and his recent Michigan adventures. There's also a plug for their dark comedy The Lady Killers. P.S. I've seen "The Lady Killers" and it is quite good. We're working on having Dean and Phil on as guests to talk more about The Lady Killers on an upcoming edition of Succotash Chats! Thought Spiral Comedians Andy Kindler (Bob's Burgers, Maron, and a past Succotash guest) and J. Elvis Weinstein (MST3K, Freaks & Geeks) convene weekly to solve the problems of the world but usually end up talking about comedy and various forms of anxiety. Every episode so far has been called "Test Episode Number Something". Our clip hails from their Epi64, a live show from the Improv Lab in Los Angeles, where Andy muses on the pros and cons of singing in public and which musicals he has enjoyed. Sidenote: The documentary: I Need You To Kill, features comedians Pete Lee, Chad Daniels, and Tom Segura on a comedy tour of China. It turns out that there's a growing comedy scene over there and it's fascinating to see it happening. The documentary was directed by none other than the aforementioned J. Elvis Weinstein. It's currently streaming on Amazon Prime and, assuming you are a fan of comedy and/or documentaries about comedians or just documentaries in general…you could do a lot worse than to check this one out. The Podcast BrothersFlaw700 and Fresco are two real life brothers who are similar (because they're both Gemini's) but also have different view points. The authentic and entertaining sibling dynamic gets switched up when Kailah King is there, She offers a unique female's perspective. They discuss mainstream hip hop events and relay those events into engaging topics of discussion. This clip is from "Love Is Free", their Epi110 from this past November, and is part of their segment called "Fresh or Fiasco". Just Say WordsThe Just Say Words soundcast covers everything from social Issues, pop culture, and race, to tech, movies, and much more. Hosted by Jae, in Epi239 he talks about voting and has a bunch of random ramblings filled with jokes and much more. Our clip features him detailing how he dealt with his Netflix account being hacked. 2DudeReview The 2DudeReview is a weekly podcast, hosted by Brian Bradley and Chad Hamilton, features Karina Dolehide, and is based on the book, "1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die." Brian and Chad are longtime friends and lifelong movie geeks who love to talk, at length, about their favorite films. "Each week we watch a movie from the '1001 Movies' list, research the film, then discuss and rate the movie from our perspectives. We pride ourselves on bringing quality content and maybe even a laugh or two in the process." IN November, they talked at length about the movie Jurassic Park — what the hell genre is it, science versus religion versus capitalism, and Chad has the hiccups. Our clip catch the hiccup fit. Conan O'Brien Needs A Friend After 25 years at the Late Night desk, Conan O'Brien realized that the only people at his holiday party are the men and women who work for him. Over the years and despite thousands of interviews, Conan has never made a real and lasting friendship with any of his celebrity guests. So, he started a podcast to do just that. He's joined on this quest by longtime trusty assistant Sona Movsesian and producer Matt Gourley (Superego, James Bonding.) His very first guest was Will Ferrell. In our clip from that episode 1, Will recounts a long-running "life bit" that involved a costume from a "Smokey and the Bandit" sketch on SNL. • • • And just like that, the last Succotash show of 2018 is drawing to a close. What a year it has been. I've spent 10 months of it putting together episodes of this show and eight of those 10 months preparing to welcome my wife and I's first child into this world VERY early in 2019. Also, the 16th of this month was my wife and I's 15th wedding anniversary. For those of you who pay attention to this sort of thing, 15 years is the "Crystal" anniversary. Whaddya want from me, I'm full of tidbits…somewhat like an actual Succotash… Anyway, 2018 has been the most unique year of my life so far. I have a feeling 2019 is going to top everything on the uniqueness scale...if there is such a thing. On January 1st I have a single dropping. It's a collaboration with Korey Epps who appeared in the Chats episode of Succotash #175. He has an album coming out in early 2019 called "Luv & Liquor" and our collaboration is part of it. It's called "Hope" and it will be available on New Years Day, on Spotify, iTunes/Apple Music, Amazon, Google Play, Deezer, Tidal, Napster and Youtube.…so that's happening too. In closing, thank you to my wife and family for being wonderful and supportive of me all these years. Thank you to Korey Epps for believing in my musical ability enough to collaborate on a music project with me. Thank you to Executive Producer Marc Hershon for keeping the show running for all those years and then deciding that when he was ready to pass the torch to someone that I was the man for the job. Thank you to Will Durst for contributing the very best in Moderate Political Comedy…that's what it's called, isn't it? Thank you to Bill Heywatt for announcing the show and thank you Joe Paulino for making sure Mr. Heywatt is always captured at his best. Thank you Scott Carvey for the Succotash theme music you are hearing in the background. And, of course, thank YOU the listener …for listening…and for sharing us with others for that is what we mean when we gently implore you to please pass the Succotash! — Tyson Saner
When I recorded this it was after meeting someone from one of the platforms I stream on. And meeting him at this place I was super aware of all the plastic involved and the likelihood of them not recycling. There are a lot of things with food biz where if it is possible it is definitely more challenging to be eco friendly and in a world of convenience there are lots of consumers not down with paying a premium for more green conscious packaging/items. Anyway It got me to thinking of why I even started on my minimalist/zero-ISH waste journey. And it is still a journey. And I still fuck up or feel bad like when I don't bring my utensils but on a whim decide to eat out. I am still making adjustments in my life and I still prefer to eat out for poke versus make it. I personally do not believe or strive for a completely zero waste life. For my lifestyle and current routine I do not foresee completely zero waste. But I do strive to be less wasteful. And do my best to not introduce more plastic into the house and not to be dependent on recycling programs since there is no guarantee recyclables get recycled. But anyway. This is about a 25minute listen. Save it for when you are stuck in traffic or driving 30miles. Thanks again for listening! Hope in some way it helps you or makes you chuckle. It's easy to be negative and react. I know from personal experience. Still working on it, don't worry about it. Let's go into the world and do our best to be our best selves. No one is living your life for you but yourself.

A continuous mix of Jackin House tracks! Spun by DJ Jesplay Welcome all this is my very first podcast! I was a mobile NYC DJ for many years and dropped out of the scene for a while. Recently I purchased software(FutureDecks Lite)and a few dozen records at Traxsource.com so I'm back on the scene like a sex machine...LOL. Anyway It's pretty solid mix I think but to compared to amazingly skilled DJs out there, I still have a long way to go. But this is strictly a hobby of mine and hopefully no one will be offended by me putting it out there. I love house music and been listening and playing it since the late 80s. I will enjoy to hear what you think good or bad.My hope is to continue making this mixes and getting better with each one. Stay blessed
