After reading her short story collection Big Time, we not only brought two of Spyra's stories to the stage, but commissioned this one, too. Actor Busy Phillips read this story onstage. This is one of those 90s movies that really shouldn't have been made. Lucky for you that it was so bad that we still ended up having plenty to say about it. Mikey had the unfortunate experience of seeing this in the theater, but in 1997 we were really spoiled for choice at the cinema each week. It wouldn't be a true exploration of 90s movies if we didn't talk about the duds from time to time. While I wasn't a fan of this hack job of a script that wasted some talented actors, we at least got a good soundtrack. If you watched that BUSH music video for "Mouth" you basically saw the movie. We talk about how Julie Delpy only did the film to pay for her rent, the awkward performance of Tom Everett Scott, and how Julie Bowen had the best part in the entire film. It's movies like this that make me love the 90s. The ability to make multi genre horror thrillers with a domestic medical drama and demon afterlife subplot is unmatched. I was searching for something to review in October and this has been on my list forever, mostly for the stacked cast. I went in knowing nothing and this was nothing short of a wild ride. I mean Jeff Goldblum as the dad and Alicia Silverstone as the bratty daughter should be reason alone for you to see this. Within the first half of the movie we have demon possession, chunky sweaters, a car accident, and a Pearl Jam reference. I'm ashamed to say that this is my first watch of Bring it On. The upside to this is that I loved it and I'm pissed I didn't see it the first go round. I remember everyone talking about it when I was in high school but because I didn't have cheerleaders at any of my schools, the concept of a cheer movie wasn't my bag. This prompted me to create yet another list on Letterboxd categorizing movies I wish I'd seen earlier. I love reviewing films that have been on my list for ages but haven't watched yet. This was such a great film that I took me way too long watch. Over the past few years this has become a theme, so much that I made (and will add to) another list on Letterboxd about films I was obsessed with on a late viewing. This has now joined the ranks of that list. Gas Food Lodging, directed by Allison Anders is a great drama and coming of age film set in the Southwest. The performances by Fairuza Balk and Ione Skye need to be studied and talked about more. I get into the INCREDIBLE fashion that stemmed from the late 80s, why J. Because this is seen as one of the classic horror films, I had to review it for the pod during spooky season.Now, some of you may be shocked but I didn't like this as much as everyone else does. Thankfully this makes for an interesting episode and by the end I started to come around a bit. Going into the video rental shop and seeing a cover with one of your favorite actors and just taking a whim on a new film. That's exactly how I discovered Pieces of April from 2003. Starring Katie Holmes who we all loved from Dawson's Creek, and with Patricia Clarkson playing her mother it immediately caught my attention. Wooo! I'm really tired of every year seeing my girls in the villa get washed by these boys during the 'Casa Amor' segment of Love Island. That's right, I'm here talking the last week of LI USA and boy is there a lot to cover. Some things I touch on: Kendall being a snake, Leah still winning me over, we ride at dawn for Jana, Aaron and Rob literally being the couple of the season, and how I can't wait for Serena to turn Kordell inside out on the next episode. 

 It's July 4th and it's beyond me that we haven't covered the 90s patriotic classic, Independence Day until now. Basically this episode was a reason for me to listen to the 'brat' album and talk to Jules about my hot takes on Chappell Roan and the current pop scene. I always float in and out of current music offerings. On this episode we get into our favorite tracks of the moment, the Taylor Swift of it all and her shadow over pop, being confused about Sabrina Carpenter, reminisce on the sleaze pop dance of the 2010s (Sky Ferreira, MIA, Santigold, La Roux, Robyn, etc..), and touch on the travesty on the erasure of culture in the form of MTV News. 

As you have learned from my last interview episode, I'm a big Love Island fan. Even if only a small group of people listen, it will all be worth it for me to get my thoughts out on this show I've been watching for the past 5 years. This is the first of my recaps of this current season (6) of the USA version of this night soap/ dating show. At the start I get into my history with how I started watching the show, my favorite moments of the UK series, and how I currently feel about what's (not) going on in the UK villa right now. On eps 15-16 I get into the aftermath of that Rob and Leah bust up, Liv being necessary to the story, and why I need Miguel and Rob to face off in this villa.
