After a special effects accident on the set, Heather Langenkamp notices odd behavior from her son. Freddy Krueger (Robert England) is trying to posses her son Dylan (Miko Hughes). This time, it's happening for real... Or is it? Sometimes too clever for its own good, Wes Craven's New Nightmare blends Tinsel Town with terror in an uneasy mix. Watching this motion picture without ever seeing the original film is an exercise in futility. Perhaps the best written of the Nightmare films, Wes Craven's New Nightmare is only successful in fits and starts. Think of it as a dry run for Scream.  Mat thinks the Price is Right scandal documentary Perfect Bid is a bit on the dry side but not without its charms.  Thrasher digs into the newest season of Mystery Science Theater 3000 on Netflix. The series we've lovingly dubbed No-nans is back as we watch 1982's Ator the Fighting Eagle, a Conan ripoff that was at the very least timely, if nothing else.

Vi skal igen tilbage til en Conan-agtig fantasyverden, hvor tapre muskelmænd redder kvinder fra døden og bekæmper troldmænd, magi og monstre. Dennegang i en mesterlig 1982-film, den første i en succesrig serie, der behændigt udnyttede den bølge, Conan-filmen havde startet. Hovedrollen i Ator The Fighting Eagle spilles af Miles O'Keefe, der netop havde afsluttet indspilningerne af Tarzan The Ape Man, og derfor var oplagt til rollen som den stærke, renlivede og indimellem hårdt kæmpende Ator - den udvalgte, som profetien har sagt vil redde de gode fra de onde. Og med de onde menes The Spider King og hans krigere. Instruktør er den ekstremt flittige Joe d'Amato, som har sat alle sejl til i dette eventyr med masser af magi, kamp og kulør. Lyt med, når Volfing & Stegelmann gør et behjertet forsøg på at formidle deres oplevelse af denne skelsættende filmmilepæl.

When your mom has a beard on her knee from a man who may or may not be your dad or Santa, you're best option is to obsess over Christmas until you're in your thirties and then you go all Buffalo Bob so that you can become the actual Santa. Not just copy cat. Actually Santa. Christmas Evil is arguably one of the strangest Xmas films ever created. It was made a time when horror movies tried to play on any holiday and the jingly time was no different. See (but don't watch) such films as Santa's Slay, Santa Claws, Don't Open til Christmas, Black Christmas, etc... However there's a complete banana-factor to this feature. Unfortunately to get to that banana-factor you have to go through a fairly uneventful montage of a man going all Santa. The performances are all solid and the cinematography is competent especially considering this is a drive-thru film. So that leaves you with an hour of not really having much to do. It's quiet, slow-moving and leaves not much room for riffing. I wouldn't call it boring, per se, but if you're coming for a mover-this ain't the one. However, in the end, you've been left with one of the most clear, "Wait, what?" moments in any genre of film, let alone a holiday film. We won't go into the final 10 seconds of Christmas Evil here, but it makes the whole experience worth it.  Happy Holidays, Stinker Family!
