Today we talk about the process of learning to do something. For example, if you want to play a musical instrument, you need to learn how. You must take small steps. You learn how to hold or sit at the instrument. You learn how to read notes and how to play basic chords. Then you progress to short, easy songs. In other words, you need to take baby steps. Babies can look funny when they are learning to walk. Their steps are unsure; their knees do not quite bend fully. They do not walk straight and often fall down. The more they walk, the steadier they get on their feet. Soon their unsteady baby steps lead to a smoother, often speedy, gait. We often use the term to describe how to reach a complex goal. Small baby steps can lead to the bigger goal. We will often use the term to suggest that someone slow down and be patient. A similar English expression goes, “You have to walk before you can run.” Let's listen as two friends use these idioms. A: Hey, how are your piano lessons going? I want to play a real song. But my teacher has me working on these same set of chords over and over again! They are difficult and boring at the same time. A: I've been playing piano for years, and chords are important. They are the foundations of music. You need to know how to walk before you can run. B: I know, I know! But I also MUST be able to play a song by next month. A: Why are you in such a hurry? Learning music requires patience. Take baby steps! 采取婴儿步骤!B: Please no more advice! I told a friend I could play the piano. And now she wants me to play at her children's birthday party. A: Oh, in that case. I have other advice for you. B: What's that? 什么建议?A: You reap what your sow. B: Thanks a lot. … Hey what are you doing next month…?

B: Yep, the beginning of next month.A: You play the violin, don't you? B: No no, the viola. It's a one-size larger instrument than the violin. No matter how much I practice, it's difficult and there are some that I can't play. But the orchestra is fun. No matter how bad the orchestra is, the conductor will guide us carefully. Then, I speak a bit slowly, so you start speaking as soon as you hear it (or with a bit of delay if you're confident), like a shadow. [16:32] Do you know the instrument called viola? It's a musical instrument that is one-size larger than the violin. I'm playing the viola in the orchestra. It's difficult and no matter how much I practice, there are some parts(passages) that I cannot play, but it's quite fun to play with others in an orchestra. Even if the orchestra is not very good, our conductor (kindly) leads us carefully. As we have a concert next month, I'm going to send tickets to my friends or to my family. I'm grateful that they will come to listen to us even if they are busy. (arigatai = thankful, grateful)★★★★★Become a patron: More episodes with full translation and Japanese transcripts. Hello from the U.S. state of Arkansas, where fall weather has finally arrived! Many people like the fall, but I like hot weather, not cold weather. Fortunately, it's only cool now, not cold. Here's another podcast episode from 2 1/2 years ago. I think I talk about my YouTube channel in this. Ignore it. I haven't done anything with my YouTube channel in a couple of years. I started a series called "Ask Miss Buswell", but it only lasted three days! I didn't follow up on it. I tend to procrastinate on some kinds of work. "Procrastinate" means to delay, to do something later. LnR 102 (Casual Language) Fast Food (Replay) Listen and Repeat: A simple dialogue between a customer and a cashier at McDonalds A: Welcome to McDonalds! How may I help you? B: Hi, I'd like a double cheeseburger. A: Would you like the combo or just the burger? B: Pardon? A: The combo includes fries and a drink. B: Oh, OK.  Just the burger. And something to drink. What do you have? A: The drinks are listed right here. We have Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite and Fanta. B: I'd like a Sprite. A medium one. No ice. A: No ice, sure. That'll be $2.75. B: Here you go. A: And 25 cents is your change. Here's your order. Have a nice day! B: Thanks. Say, where is the WC? A: The what? B: Uh, the bathroom. A: Oh, it's around the corner and down the hall. B: OK. Thanks a lot.

Hi guys! Happy Thursday! I’m so excited to dive into today’s solocast with you. I’m sharing how incredibly powerful the female intuition is, cycle syncing and diving deeper into the past 10 months of life.  As I’ve shared in previous solocasts, the past year has been one for growth, pivoting and not feeling like myself. Up until a month and a half ago I found myself in this fog like state, I was emotionally all over, felt lost, found it a struggle to chose happiness (because it truly is a choice), found myself being envious of others, lack of motivation or desire to do anything. I stopped reading, I barely listened to podcasts and didn’t have a strong appetite for personal development. THIS was when I knew something was extremely off. I’ve always been hungry for growth and at that point I didn’t care. Some periods of time were better (and easier) than others but still I knew I wasn’t myself.  With the help of WomanCode (thanks to @leeFromamerica), it was the first book I read and it made me realize just HOW powerful our bodies are as women from leveraging the power of our intuition, cycle syncing (coordinating activities and workouts with the phases of our cycle for maximum performance) and just how important it is to stabilize our blood sugar for consistent energy.  Also, every time I record a solocast I always get a little self conscious that I’m all over the place with my thoughts so A) I’m working on getting better B) Thanks for still tuning in :) Lastly, I’m working on a project and need your help! If you have taken the LEAP, left your corporate job to pursue entrepreneurship or if the podcast has inspired you in some way, I want to hear from you! Click below.
