You've heard all about cycle syncing—eat this, don't do that, rest more here, push there. But what if I told you that it might actually be making you more disconnected from your body instead of more aligned? In this episode, I'm breaking down why I don't fully agree with the trend of cycle syncing, especially when half your month is spent in your luteal phase. You can't afford to check out on your goals and call it self-care.Let's talk about what's actually keeping you stuck, how to listen to your body without following someone else's rulebook, and what it really means to stay strong, consistent, and connected.Do you feel like your metabolism has slowed down? What if the first step in healing isn't a new supplement or test—but learning how to feel safe in your own body? In this episode, I'm guiding you through the foundational (yet often overlooked) first step in any healing journey: regulating your nervous system. We explore why your body can't heal when it's stuck in fight-or-flight, how to recognize the subtle signs of chronic stress, and the ancient rituals that help us come back home to ourselves—starting with the breath. I also share the deeply personal story of how my own health unraveled in my 20s—despite doing “everything right”—and how it took walking away from the noise of modern wellness to remember what healing truly feels like. This episode is an invitation to soften. To get curious. To stop chasing protocols and start listening to your inner wisdom. We'll walk through breathwork, circadian rhythms, and the power of building your own sanctuary for rest—because you deserve to feel good again. If your symptoms feel confusing, your stress feels constant, or you just need a moment of grounding... this is for you. Completely new universes and deeper awarenesses can arise when we gather in sacred intimate conversations. That's why this podcast is in its 13th season!  I knew how grateful I am for Marina's videography and photography at my last 4-5 retreats. I'm aware of how inspired I am at the personal, parental, spiritual and professional evolution I've witnessed coaching her and the gift of her vulnerability to our coaching community. I'm grateful for the contribution of her mastery in the realm of water rituals for my clients at retreats.  However it wasn't until we sat down for this podcast that we really felt the massive impact of all these years working together, the impact on our friendship, sisterhood, professional relationship, personal and collective evolution. It's so good to reflect! Without reflection, the profound impact of these experiences stay concealed, like a hidden ripe fruit that we never got to sink our teeth into! Syncing our teeth into our glorious journey together, we also discussed... -How the first time I hired her, a client had made unconscious comment that pierced Marina's heart and I made sure to address it, integrate it and include her in the group's transformation- she felt safe and seen. -How exquisite it was to have her lead a couples water ritual in Costa Rica utilizing underwater photography and community to further bond and celebrate sacred partnership (setting the stage for a secret engagement proposal!) -How a client also in the film industry, publicly honored all the work Marina had done, the work of 7 to 10 people, and how extraordinary she is flowing in and out of her masculine and feminine energies -How our trust has grown over the years such that she stepped into support a client during a process where I was helping someone else. We felt each other having each other's back in combined service to my community- what a gift. -How we are no different than any other relationship, having a rupture that we repaired that led to the deepest bonding we ever shared as if we were two goddesses in a temple, downloading wisdom from the cosmos sitting beside the infinity pool on the beach in Isla Mujeres. -How my mentorship as an entrepreneur, a woman several decades older than her, yet also a woman of great vulnerability, transparency and honesty, has been a safe place for her to continue to grow over time, ending an old pattern of leaving if things got uncomfortable. -How her commitment to stay year after year coaching in my community has supported her sitting in the fire in her current romantic relationship while deepening her own relationship with herself in the face of anything, so inspiring! ➡️ Go check out patreon.com/allanapratt for Exclusive content! I absolutely loved being in band and playing my saxophone, but CHOIR?So nerve-racking.What's the point?Let me frame it up, and I know you'll 100% relate.I was a nervous kid who had just joined the school choir, feeling totally out of my depth because I didn't know the songs. The choir teacher, Mr. Krinke, saw my potential, so he put me next to the "first chair" - the best in the class - to sharpen my skill set.During practice, Mr. Krinke caught me and some others lip-syncing, trying to hide that we weren't sure of the notes.Mr. Krinke stopped us and said, "Kassandra, I need you to sing out loud, even if it's not perfect.Make those mistakes with confidence. When you do, I'll hear what's wrong, and we can fix it together. But I can't help you find your voice if you don't sing."So, I took a deep breath and belted out the notes, messing up plenty but giving it my all.Mr. Krinke nodded and showed me what to tweak, and I started getting better. This taught me the [VALUE OF A VOW] TO NO MATTER WHAT - COMMIT, LEARN AND TAKE THE NEXT SMALL STEP.It's the difference between avoiding mistakes, like lip-syncing to life to avoid looking bad, and owning every ounce of our path of learning, like singing boldly even if it isn't yet where you desire to be.Perfection kills. Breath and joy of learning the notes of life is a feedback loop of God's Grace of BECOMING in our creation. When I was brave, I could learn and grow because I was open to Mr. Krinke's feedback. But if I stayed scared, I'd just stay stuck.I have gratitude to Mr. Krinke, as I learned to take that leap and find my voice.I also know you've had an experience like this.Find your "first chair" - meaning people that have what you desire and resource the heck out of it to make you better, not compare or fake someone else's path. Its virtues: have conviction and be bold in your calling. This goes back to 10,000 hours - anything you practice, you'll eventually learn lessons on the journey and become excellent, not the best, but excellent and humbly proud.Belt your love for life. We all need your note in this symphony in life. xo Love, Kassandra. Get full access to The Light Between at thelightbetween.substack.com/subscribe

Did you know your menstrual cycle is deeply connected to your nervous system—and can even influence your healing? In this episode, I had the absolute pleasure of chatting with Leslie Draffen, and wow—what a powerful conversation. Leslie brings such a unique perspective, blending her deep knowledge of the nervous system with the wisdom of the menstrual cycle. We dove into her personal story—how she went from a career in TV journalism, filled with anxiety and shame, to becoming a women's somatic coach who helps others reconnect with their bodies and feel truly safe again.Leslie opened up about her experience with adoption, health struggles, and the healing journey she's been on through somatic work and microdosing. One of the most eye-opening parts of our conversation was how deeply the menstrual cycle is connected to the female nervous system. And the best part? Her insights aren't just for people who still get a period—she also shares powerful tools for those in perimenopause or menopause. We also explored how aligning your daily habits and even your business with your cycle can completely transform the way you show up in life. Plus, Leslie shares how sensuality—defined not as sexuality but as a gentle, body-based practice—can help heal trauma and rebuild trust with your body. This is a conversation that's close to my heart, and I know it'll resonate with anyone on a healing journey.Topics Covered:From News Anchor to Somatic Coach: A Journey of HealingUnderstanding and Syncing with the Female Menstrual CycleThe Power of Simplicity and Permission to Slow DownEmbracing Perimenopause and Menopause as Empowering Life PhasesHealing Through Sensuality: Reconnecting With the Body SafelyHealing Shame Through Sensual Embodiment and Body PostureListening to Your Body and Distinguishing Intuition from FearIf you've ever felt like food has power over you, I hope this conversation brings you comfort and inspiration. You're not alone, and healing is possible. If you've ever felt like you're doing everything right—eating well, exercising, pushing yourself—but your body just won't let go of fat, there's a reason.Your nervous system is either in Protection Mode (fight-or-flight) or Safety Mode (rest-and-digest)—and fat release only happens in Safety Mode. But if your body feels unsafe? It clings to fat, slows metabolism, and even triggers binge eating and self-sabotage.Think about it. You go through stress, and suddenly you're reaching for food you swore you wouldn't touch. You're not weak—it's biology. When your body is in survival mode, it's wired to conserve energy and seek quick fuel. That's why unwanted eating behaviors feel so out of control sometimes. But here's the kicker: fat loss isn't just about burning calories—it's about making your body feel safe enough to let go.So the real question is—are you pushing your body into Protection Mode without even realizing it? Because if you are, no amount of dieting or exercise is going to override survival mode. It's time to stop fighting your body and start working with it.So if you're ready to Break Free from Emotional and Binge Eating, download my FREE eBook: Calm the Craving: 7 Steps to Break the Emotional and Binge Eating Battle. In this guide, you'll learn how to regulate your nervous system to eliminate cravings, make peace with food, and allow the weight to naturally release itself.Download your free copy here: www.sherryshaban.com/calmYou deserve to experience food freedom, I can't wait to see you inside!Listen to more episodes at www.makepeacewithfood.com/podcast or subscribe to me on Spotify, iTunes, and YouTube so you never miss an episode!Join my Facebook Community here: www.myfoodfreedomlifestyle.comWork with me: www.sherryshaban.com/transformWant to go deeper? Friends, we're back—together again to explore the kind of magic that doesn't come in a bottle, a scan, or a lab result. In this soul-filled solo episode, I dive deep into a fundamental truth that continues to surface in my own healing journey: health isn't just physical. It's about alignment—mind, body, spirit, and purpose. We're talking radical remission, the stories we believe about our bodies, and how shifting our perception can literally rewire our biology. I'll unpack why naming a condition isn't the same as understanding it, how to avoid getting stuck in a diagnosis, and why sometimes the most powerful medicine is found in community and connection. Macy Maxson did not intend to become a lightning rod pushing back on the gender ideology agenda that has infiltrated so much of society, even feminine hygiene products. But when Maxon founded Garnuu, a tampon subscription company, in 2022, she wanted to affirm biological reality. “From the beginning,” Maxson says she decided her company would stand firm on the fact “that only women can get periods.” After Maxson launcher Garnuu, Tampax started using transgender activists, such as Dylan Mulvaney, to promote its products. Maxson said she watched as other tampon companies began moving away from feminine branding and word choice in product promotion, but Garnuu branded itself as a “girls only club.” That simple statement cost Maxson some customers who claimed stating that only women get periods was not loving. “We're just calling it a ‘girls only club' and it's just truth,” Maxson said. “How is that not loving? But OK, whatever, so then I just ran with it.” While some took offense to Maxson's firm position on biology, many more celebrated the way Garnuu upholds the dignity of women, leading to the small companies' growth. Garnuu customers are so “supportive” that Maxson says she quit her 9-5 job and is leading the rapidly growing company full time. Maxson joins “Problematic Women” at the Conservative Political Action Conference to discuss the challenges and rewards of launching a company, and her commitment to truth. Maxson also explains the value of cycle syncing, a process in which women strategically work with their bodies as hormone levels rise and fall during their cycle.
