Tip of the Day: Death doesn't make you a martyr, life does. Today we take a look at the Renee Good situation. We infuse empathy, which means, we're going to irritate all the listeners with this one. One thing is certain, Becca Good has as much responsibility in the loss of life as anyone on the scene. She made the situation much more hostile than was necessary and it, undoubtedly put everyone on edge more. At the end of the day, cases can be made that Renee was a good person but we can't deny that she did not handle this situation well. We also have to acknowledge the same thing about the officer who shot her. He may be a good person but he did not handle the situation perfectly either. Over the past decade, the Oregon Department of Justice has tried shifting blame to parents in wrongful death and negligence claims against the Department of Human Services , new reporting from The Oregonian/OregonLive shows. The publication found 10 cases where this was happening. But in half of those, parents were not accused of any crimes yet were still sued by the state . On the morning of October 12, 2013, 23-year-old Army veteran Christian Griggs went to his in-laws' property in Angier, North Carolina to pick up his young daughter, Jaden. At 10:54 a.m., he called his father Tony to say that his father-in-law, Reverend Pat Chisenhall, was yelling at him while his estranged wife Katie hid inside the house. Six minutes later, at 11:00 a.m., Tony arrived at the Chisenhall home to find his son lying face-down, bleeding and unresponsive. Pat had shot him six times with a .22 rifle. Once in the abdomen, once on the top of his left shoulder, and four times in the back. Christian was rushed to the hospital, where he was soon pronounced dead. As his family struggled to process the sudden loss, detectives began piecing together what had happened that fateful morning.
