We live in a world that emphasizes external measures of our value and worth, like the amount of money in your bank account or the number of followers on Instagram. There's nothing wrong with enjoying these external accolades, as long as we remember that they can never capture the truth of who you really are. In this episode, we discuss the natural human tendency to get lost in these measurements and how that can sometimes take us away from fully appreciating the joy within ourselves and our accomplishments. This is a conversation about choosing joy over metrics and remembering that who you are is already enough. Thank you for joining us for our 2nd Cabral HouseCall of the weekend! I'm looking forward to sharing with you some of our community's questions that have come in over the past few weeks… Samantha: Hi Dr. Cabral, I was hoping you could help me find out what happened to me this morning. While getting ready for work, I felt a prickly heat sensation on my scalp that spread to my face and arms, which turned bright red—like a sunburn, but not raised. It then moved to my legs, and the prickling became so uncomfortable I had to take off my pants. The redness lasted about 30 min, slowly faded and back to normal in 90 minutes. Afterward, I felt cold and started shivering. I'd had my usual breakfast, nothing out of the ordinary. Just for background: I'm a 47-year-old woman, healthy and active, with regular periods and mild hypothyroidism that I manage with diet and supplements. I'm not on any meds or hormones. Thanks so much in advance! John: Hey doc . Hope all is well. Im 50 years old and have some arthritis and nerve pain in my elbow probably from overuse between work hitting the gym and being a weekend warrior . Would like to know your recommendations I do take your dns and detox every 3 months thanks Bettina: Dear Dr. Cabral. We don't have a water filter yet. Harland kicks things off by reminiscing about fingering calamari and the first time someone touched his arse—with a thermometer. Tom shares the traumatic moment he had to show a friend his infamously hairy sphincter... and yes, he ends up showing Harland too. Surprisingly, the conversation spirals into absurd territory with erotic drawings, smut searches, fart-catching attempts, a Dominican dick flash, and a deep dive into Enny's alleged fondness for buttholes. Harland doesn't disappoint either—he reacts to fart videos, tells a story about dating Madonna, and looks forward to tanning with Tom. The two also talk about creativity, recreational drugs, Harland's distrust of nicotine pouches, the anthems of both Canada and Texas, plus playing doctor, and horseshoes with neck pillows. Oh, and Harland names his favorite dictator. The next time you pick up a bag of spuds from the supermarket or fill up the car with petrol, you can thank the Treaty of the Metre for the metric system that underpins daily life. The treaty was signed exactly 150 years ago, when delegates from 17 countries gathered on a Parisian spring day to establish a new and standardised way of measuring the world around us.But the metre's inception predates the treaty that bears its name by nearly 100 years. So how did it come about, and how has its definition changed over the centuries?
For the most part, the star cluster NGC 2281 has escaped the attention of astronomers. It hasn’t been studied in a lot of depth over the years. So many of its details haven’t really been locked down. So far, astronomers have cataloged more than 200 stars in the cluster. And they’ve ruled out many more stars that happen to line up in the same direction. That makes NGC 2281 a fairly puny cluster. The cluster’s distance is a bit uncertain as well. Measurements have been getting better in recent years, thanks in part to the Gaia space telescope. It’s obtained precise details on several of the stars in the cluster, including their distance. Those observations put NGC 2281 at more than 1700 light-years. And its age is still debated, too. Estimates in recent years have ranged from about 275 million to 630 million years. Various studies have used different techniques to plot the age. That includes the types of stars found in the cluster, the number of dead stars, and even how fast the Sun-like stars in the cluster spin; stars slow down as they age. NGC 2281 is in Auriga the charioteer, in the west-northwest as night falls. The “twins” of Gemini stand to its upper left, with the brilliant star Capella farther to its lower right. Under clear, dark skies, it’s visible to the unaided eye as a hazy patch of light – a star cluster that we’re still getting to know. Script by Damond Benningfield

March is National Nutrition Month and "beef" wants to be a part of that conversation! Shalene McNeill, PhD, RDN, NCBA’s executive director of Nutrition Science, Health & Wellness, along with Tammy Vaassen, executive director of the Wisconsin Beef Council both want you to know the truth of beef protein and what it brings to your diet. Driving beef demand begins with research, and recent results from a study conducted by the University of Arkansas for Medical Services (UAMS) confirm that not all proteins are created equal. The research, funded by the Beef Checkoff through its contractor, the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, was designed to better understand how animal- and plant-based proteins compare in promoting muscle protein synthesis. Muscle protein synthesis is the natural metabolic process in which older, less functional muscle protein fibers are replaced with newer, more functional fibers to support the maintenance or production of muscle mass. Measurements of muscle protein synthesis are an indicator of muscle health and research continues to support the role of healthy muscle tissue in the prevention of numerous diseases. The research reveals that ounce for ounce, beef outperforms a soy-based meat alternative (SBMA) patty in stimulating muscle protein synthesis. While soy and beef are both high-quality proteins, it takes twice the amount of the SBMA with 66% more calories to elicit the same impact on muscle health. You can find out more about the health benefits of beef - regardless of age at beeftips.com or the National Cattlemen's Beef site.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
In America we use red blooded blue collar measurements like feet and yards and miles. But what's up with that? And what's a furlong? And a perch? We talk about the Proclaimers' hit song and their evolution, and we talk about the evolution of the mile and other measurements that we just can't let go of even as the rest of the world has gone metric. In Eurovision, we talk about the debut of Celine Dion, with her 1988 song for Switzerland, "Ne partez pas sans moi".Find us on instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/gettingdownandwordy/And email us at gettingdownandwordy@gmail.comHuge thanks to Patsy Walker for the use of our theme song “Who's Wordy Now”!This week's promoted podcast is Haunted Moonlight. The Measurements is a powerful statement of ownership. The golden reed is a symbol of those through whom the Spirit flows to bring illumination to the nations. This is a divine tool, symbolized by gold. The measurement of the city speaks of the perfect fullness which occurs as the bondservants of Christ are joined in unity with the entirety of the Godhead. The wife of Christ will be perfect, full, complete, stable, and fully imbued with the fullness of the Godhead. The measurement of the walls depicts the completeness of Jews and Gentiles. Combined, the city, its gates and its walls provide us with a picture of all those who even now arefound to be believing and overcoming. This structure speaks of community, fellowship, and connectedness (the city), exclusivity but also access (the gates), and safety, stability, and security (its walls).Download Transcript

Welcome back to the kitchen table. Do you ever struggle to see your children the way God does, feeling stuck in your own perspective? Comparison, frustration, and the pressure of outcomes creep in so quickly. So how do we shift?2 Peter 1:2 says, “Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.” But grace and peace don't come from control—they come from knowing him. And knowing him means making space to hear him.Sometimes, we just need to pause. Not react. Not fix. Just sit with Jesus.Pausing helps us see where our worship is misplaced. Are we worshipping an outcome more than we're worshipping him? Today, let's pause. Let's sit with him. Let's see through his eyes. Inside Strategic Coach: Connecting Entrepreneurs With What Really Matters
Entrepreneurs need to be ambitious. But what happens when you achieve your ambition? In this episode, Dan Sullivan and Shannon Waller explain the drawbacks of having ambition as a destination and describe the incredible benefits you can expect when you see ambition as a capability. Here's some of what you'll learn in this episode:Why Dan sees ambition as an internal capability.Measurements you should be making every day. What's made Dan's life simpler over time. How Dan gifts Strategic Coach® members extra years to their entrepreneurial lives. What you need to avoid to be continually ambitious, and why. Show Notes: Ambition is a capability, not a destination.Simply by continually improving your ambition each day, you'll experience exponential growth over time.Dan Sullivan feels more ambitious at 80 than he did at 50.To strengthen your ambition, it's important to measure your daily accomplishments and strive for continal growth. You can measure your progress not just in achievements, but in the ability to accomplish more in less time with greater impact.Ambition itself should be measured in terms of increased capability and confidence.Simplifying life by eliminating distractions (like television) can reclaim valuable time for personal development and ambitious pursuits.Surrounding yourself with growth-oriented individuals, often younger, can inspire and fuel your ambition. To be continually ambitious, there are three things you should avoid: celebrity, retirement, and legacy. It's important to focus on being useful and impactful in the present rather than worrying about future legacy.Viewing ambition as a capability can also help you feel more fulfilled personally—and have a greater impact on your community.Every day, ask yourself what you can do so that you're more ambitious tomorrow.Being around people who aren't invested in growth is an obstacle to your ambition. Fr. Mike shows us from our reading of Jeremiah that when we give our hearts and minds over to idols we become foolish. The way of man is not in himself, we need the Lord to guide and correct us. In Ezekiel, we read about the vision of the measuring of the temple and Fr. Mike shows us how the early Church Fathers would read the Old Testament in light of the New Testament. Today's readings are Jeremiah 10-11, Ezekiel 40, and Proverbs 15:5-8. For the complete reading plan, visit ascensionpress.com/bibleinayear. Please note: The Bible contains adult themes that may not be suitable for children - parental discretion is advised.
Sermon on the Mount E30 – After the four-part section on our relationship to money, Jesus turns to addressing our relationships with each other. He begins with the command to not judge. But judging can mean condemnation—or it can mean evaluation. So when is it acceptable to judge someone? And what does that mean for how we will be judged? In this episode, Tim and Jon unpack a challenging command that calls for a deep understanding of God's generosity to compel us to respond generously to each other.
