This week, Jacki and Lyle discuss the extraordinary interview Baroness Michelle Mone gave alongside her husband, Doug Barrowman, earlier this month on the BBC programme Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg. In a quite remarkable piece of television, Mone revealed that she had, in fact, lied to the press about how she and her family stood to profit to the tune of up to £60 million as a result of PPE contracts negotiated between her husband's company on the government at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. Mone had herself recommended Barrowman's company to the government during a period of crisis for PPE provision during the pandemic, and as a member of the House of Lords it has been stated that profiting from this arrangement may well have presented ethical issues that are now being investigated. Barrowman's company is also under investigation due to the poor quality of the PPE provided as a result of the near £200 million contract. Jacki and Lyle discuss just how much this can be considered a PR fiasco, with particular reference to Mone's defence that she believed she had done nothing wrong, her repeated assertions that there was no case to answer, and the notion that she lied about the prospect of profiting from this crisis in order to protect her family. Jacki and Lyle demonstrate how passionate they are about this topic throughout, whilst also praising Kuenssberg for how she conducted the interview itself.Artwork by DimosoMusic by Lyle FultonGet in touch via lyle@dimoso.com or info@dimoso.comMore information at www.dimoso.com and www.therestispr.comFollow us on Twitter - @TheRestIsPR Hosted on Acast.
