Send us a textIn this Tech Tuesday episode, Ben speaks with Jason Beyer, Business Unit Leader for the Care Franchise at Chiesi USA, about the development of NeoCarePal, a free mobile app designed to simplify daily workflows in the NICU.NeoCarePal brings together a curated collection of the most commonly used neonatal calculators and formulas in one easy-to-use platform. Instead of searching across multiple sources, clinicians can access tools for glucose infusion rates, oxygenation index, gestational and corrected age, umbilical catheter positioning, endotracheal tube depth, Sarnat scoring, bilirubin management based on the 2022 guidelines, and early onset sepsis risk — all validated and referenced directly in the app.Jason explains how Chiesi moved beyond therapeutics to address unmet needs by listening to clinicians, running focus groups, and designing a solution that reduces frustration at the bedside. The conversation also covers the importance of user experience, ongoing updates based on feedback, and why providing NeoCarePal free of charge was central to its mission. This episode highlights how industry and clinicians can collaborate to create practical, accessible tools that make neonatal care more efficient and reliable. Liz Ann Sonders with Charles Schwab says the "expectations bar" for Nvidia (NVDA) was likely set too high by investors after it traded lower on numbers "in-line to slightly above" estimates. However, she points to expectations of rate cuts from the Fed giving a significant boost to small caps, seen in recent RUT rallies. Liz Ann notes other rotations happening under the surface of Wall Street. That said, she warns investors to keep tariffs on the radar. She talks about the U.S.'s "Swiss army knife" approach to tariff goals.======== Schwab Network ========Empowering every investor and trader, every market day. Helen Sanders brings over 25 years' experience in recruitment, working closely with MSPs and tech businesses both in the UK and the US. Helen has built her reputation on helping owner-managed businesses move from frantic, last-minute hires to building confident, structured recruitment processes that allow owners to grow their teams with purpose and clarity. Her passion is helping business owners become great at hiring and creating environments where both owners and new recruits enjoy the process and stay for the long term. One of the biggest problems we see in the MSP world is the temptation to bring in someone who can do a bit of everything. This “Swiss Army knife” mentality can seem appealing when the team is small and the need is urgent, but as Helen Sanders shares, it often leads to burnout, lack of clarity, and a team culture where people end up firefighting rather than thriving. Panic hiring is all too common and often ends in tears, both for the owner and the team. Helen is a firm believer that you are always better off taking your time, defining exactly who you need, and being prepared to wait for the right person. Helen Sanders emphasises the importance of hiring for the person first, and the skills second. The strongest MSPs are those that are crystal clear on their culture, their values, and the kind of learning mindset they want in every team member. Helen's advice is to look for people who are hungry to learn, who are actively seeking out new skills, and who naturally fit the business's way of doing things. The technical requirements are important, but these can be trained if you get the values fit right. If you build a team of the right people, the skills and roles will take care of themselves as the business grows. Another key insight Helen Sanders shared is the idea of always being on the lookout for talent, even if you are not actively recruiting. Rather than collecting CVs and waiting until you are desperate for a new hire, she recommends building relationships, keeping a warm list of potential candidates, and treating these relationships in the same way you nurture prospects in your sales pipeline. By keeping in touch and offering value, even when there is no job available, you position your MSP as a place people want to work, and you make it much easier to hire well when the need arises. The conversation also explored how recruitment is no different from client onboarding. Helen Sanders points out that too many MSPs invest heavily in client experience, but then neglect the onboarding and experience of their new team members. This can result in a disconnect between what was promised in the recruitment process and what is delivered on day one. Helen recommends building a robust, people-first onboarding process that starts before the new hire arrives and continues throughout their career with you. This not only sets the tone for a great working relationship but also encourages new team members to refer others, strengthening your recruitment pipeline for the future. Building trust throughout the hiring process is vital. As Helen Sanders highlights, trust is created through multiple touchpoints and involving the wider team in the process. This could mean inviting potential hires to informal team coffees, shadowing days, or non-interview meetings to see how they interact with the culture and values of the business. It takes the pressure off the traditional interview format and allows both sides to get a genuine feel for each other. Helen also shared that showing vulnerability as a business owner and being open about the journey can make a huge difference in attracting the right people. We finished the episode reflecting on the importance of succession planning and building a business that does not rely solely on the owner. Helen Sanders offered practical advice on creating a deliberate, step-by-step plan for removing yourself from day-to-day roles over a three-year period, focusing on spinning fewer plates, and empowering others to step up. This is the key to building a scalable and sellable MSP, where the value lies in the team and the systems rather than the founder. Organizing is a superpower. It allows us to make our voices heard, to influence the decision-makers, from corporations to landlords to the elected officials who determine clean air standards, the cost of childcare, the minimum wage and whether voting rights will expand or become more restrictive. And in a moment in which politicians are defunding healthcare and other public systems to finance tax cuts for the wealthiest in our society, organizing provides a skillset and framework that prepares nonprofit organizations, their staff and community-based volunteers to lead impactful and changemaking campaigns. In this episode of Power Station I speak with the invincible Elyssa Feder, who has trained thousands of new entries in the organizing field since launching Rising Organizers in 2016. She is positioning a new generation of organizers to save and strengthen our battered democracy and is creating the organizing infrastructure that nonprofits need to activate their communities and fulfill their mission. And Elyssa is committed to growing power, through organizing, in Washington DC where 700,000 people lack full voting representation in Congress. As she says, organizing takes many forms and there is room for all of us. Hear her and share this episode!
In this powerful episode, Shannon sits down with ultra Catalyst leader Juan Carlos Lopez (JC), Director of Data & AI at Schibsted Media in Norway. With a career that spans telecom, energy, automotive, media, and e-commerce, JC has built a reputation for turning complex technical challenges into sweeping business transformations.JC shares hard-won insights from the trenches—starting with the critical importance of breadcrumbing your value. He reveals how failing to make your impact visible, both internally and externally, can limit not just your own growth but also your team's ability to continue driving change. Now, JC leverages storytelling and data to clearly articulate his value and gain the sponsorship needed to sustain momentum.Together, Shannon and JC unpack what makes Catalysts uniquely successful across industries: the ability to form strong teams, connect the unconnected, and blend disciplines to create industry-defining innovation. Whether it's transforming e-commerce through AI or building internal movements that spark cultural change, JC's playbook is a masterclass in strategic leadership. You'll also hear JC's approach to leading through chaos—how he grounds himself first ("putting on his own oxygen mask") and then supports his teams with empathy and emotional intelligence during times of rapid change. If you're a Catalyst looking to scale your leadership, amplify your impact, and drive meaningful transformation—this conversation is for you.Original music by Lynz Floren.
Garth Heckman The David Alliance TDAgiantSlayer@Gmail.com The most expensive Swiss knife The most expensive Swiss Army Knife ever made is a luxury model produced by Victorinox in collaboration with Swiss jeweler Bonfort, released in 2004. It is covered with nearly 800 diamonds, totaling close to 4 carats, and features platinum or gold shells. Only 40 pieces were made (20 in platinum, 20 in gold), each priced at over $100,000. The knife includes standard tools like a large blade, small blade, nail file, nail cleaner, scissors, orange peeler, screwdriver, and tweezers, with all tools except the tweezers encrusted with diamonds. It comes in a solid aluminum suitcase with a diamond authenticity certificate If you don't need it, I don't got it, but if you need it, I got it. Sounds corny but the truth is that is exactly what the word of God is like. The Bible uses several vivid word pictures to describe God's Word, beyond the well-known metaphors of a lamp and a sword. Here are some key examples, drawn from Scripture: Fire: God's Word is likened to a fire, symbolizing its power to purify, consume, and energize. Jeremiah 23:29 - "Is not my word like fire," declares the Lord, "and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces?" Hammer: In the same verse, God's Word is compared to a hammer, emphasizing its ability to break through hardness and resistance, such as stubborn hearts or false beliefs. Seed: The Word is depicted as a seed that, when planted in receptive hearts, grows and bears fruit. Mark 4:14 - In the Parable of the Sower, Jesus explains, "The sower sows the word." Water: The Word is described as water, cleansing and nourishing those who receive it. Ephesians 5:26 - Christ cleanses the church "by the washing with water through the word." Mirror: The Word acts as a mirror, revealing one's true spiritual condition and prompting self-examination. James 1:23-25 - It compares someone who hears the Word but doesn't act on it to a person who looks in a mirror and forgets their appearance. Bread/Food: God's Word is likened to sustenance, essential for spiritual life and growth. Matthew 4:4 - Jesus says, "Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God." Honey: The Word is described as sweet, delightful, and desirable. Psalm 119:103 - "How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!" Light: Beyond a lamp, the Word is a broader source of light, illuminating truth and dispelling darkness. Psalm 119:105 - "Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path." Rain and Snow: The Word is compared to precipitation that nourishes the earth, ensuring growth and fruitfulness. Isaiah 55:10-11 - "As the rain and the snow come down from heaven... so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty." Treasure/Gold: The Word is portrayed as precious and valuable, worth more than material wealth. Psalm 19:10 - "They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb." Salt And a few more… These metaphors collectively highlight the multifaceted nature of God's Word—its power, beauty, necessity, and transformative impact on those who engage with it. If you need it, Gods word provides it.

A whole lot has happened since the last episode of ModChat, and there's still been a few topics not covered within this episode! For the ones we do go into, the first is covering some major progress on the PlayStation Home revival project Home Laboratory, which is now available by default on the XMB for the latest PS3HEN and Evilnat CFW users on PS3! The PS3 also gets some renewed Hypervisor related interest in the form of BadHTAB, which is based on old HTAB related work from geohot and has been worked on here again in 2025. The Xbox 360 side of house gets more love, with Sonic Unleashed being ported to PC thanks to XenonRecomp, both of which have been released. The OG Xbox gets a fancy new payload in the form of Skeleton Key which serves as a Swiss Army Knife for stock OG Xbox users to run and quickly have several powerful tools available on their screen with minimal effort. Finally, a new FATXplorer tool releases in the form of XDON, allowing for easy Xbox and Xbox 360 drive mounting over a network.

This episode was recorded on-site at TAPPI's 2025 Student Summit in St. Petersburg, FL. More than 300 attendees—including pulp and paper engineering students from 13 different universities—enjoyed panel discussions, a Career Fair, and Engineering Challenge, and so much more. We asked students to "take the mic" to host their own interviews and share their unique voices. Our first guest hosts are Tabitha Newberry, Katelyn Gyurich, and Shelby Conley, three students studying Paper Engineering at Western Michigan University. "I think my favorite part of student summit is making connections," says one of our students, as they discuss what makes this industry truly special. Their enthusiasm for TAPPI is contagious... and they may just have the next billion-dollar idea in specialty tissue. What does it take to become a "Swiss Army Knife of Disability Advocacy"? For John Feller, it began with the birth of his son with autism who is now 16 and nonverbal. His journey from confused parent to national advocate reveals the profound challenges and unexpected gifts that come with raising a child with disabilities. The path wasn't always clear. John candidly shares his initial struggle to accept his son's diagnosis and find his footing as a father when traditional parenting roles were upended. "What I struggled with in the beginning was finding my role," he explains. "I couldn't be the breadwinner, I couldn't manage all the therapies—so who was I as a parent, as a husband, as a father?" This identity crisis eventually led him to discover his true gifts in advocacy, networking, and relationship-building.Education presents particular challenges for families navigating disability. John offers valuable insights about the realities of public versus private schooling, cautioning parents not to be deceived by appearances: "Anything looks good on a website." His family ultimately made the difficult decision to place their son in a residential facility a thousand miles from home—a choice requiring tremendous surrender but proving beneficial for their son's development.Communication with a nonverbal child requires creativity and patience. Through a combination of body language interpretation, basic signing, and assistive technology, John has found ways to connect with his son. He emphasizes the importance of addressing individuals with disabilities directly rather than speaking about them as if they aren't present: "He doesn't speak, but he does hear."The conversation takes a powerful turn when John discusses the vital importance of community support. Having transitioned from feeling completely alone to building a national network, he now helps other families find their lifelines. His work with Joni and Friends, a global Christian disability ministry, allows him to help churches create welcoming environments for people with all types of disabilities—visible and invisible.Looking toward the future, John confronts the reality many special needs parents face: what happens when they're no longer there? With his son being an only child, creating intentional community becomes even more critical. Who will check on him, celebrate birthdays, or simply offer a hug?Whether you're navigating disability personally or seeking to better support those who are, John's story offers profound wisdom about finding purpose through unexpected challenges and building communities that sustain us through life's most difficult journeys.Let me know what you think of this episode? Tell us what you think of the show! Sponsored by OATIThe energy industry loves a shiny new object.Distributed energy resource management systems, or DERMS, land squarely in that bucket. The software's ability to autonomously control and communicate with millions of potential devices, while facilitating power market participation, could be the Swiss Army Knife the energy transition so desperately needs. It's also a key enabler of virtual power plants, which have received a fair amount of hype on their own. But this rapidly growing market has created an environment of ambiguity. Even the acronym, DERMS, doesn't have a clear industry definition, creating an opportunity for half-baked solutions to cash in on the optimism. So what's real?In this episode of the Factor This podcast, Linda Stevens, the chief strategy officer for smart grids and smart cities at OATI, joins me to demystify DERMS. That's all next on Factor This. Watch the full episode on YouTube

On this week's episode of Local Legends, Martin is joined by the absolutely lovely, incredibly talented writer, folklorist and podcaster Dr Icy Sedgwick, whose show Fabulous Folklore is absolutely brilliant. While her podcast has been running for nigh-on six years, Icy has been blogging about folklore for much longer, and she has written several books, including the excellent Rebel Folklore: Empowering Tales of Spirits, Witches and Other Misfits from Anansi to Baba Yaga, which came out in 2023. Though that collection is only the very tip of the "Icy-berg" as she has also published short story collections, novels and novellas in an array of genres, from Westerns to Fantasy books to Gothic horror, and many others. In terms of the ‘Dr' bit, Icy's PhD is in Haunted House movies, which, if you weren't already convinced, makes her, firstly, super-cool in an of itself, and, secondly, a very Three Ravens-y type of person. An expert in folklore, ghosts, and a diverse range of genre fiction? Yes please! Moreover, for our purposes this week, Icy is the perfect person to speak to about Northumberland as she was born there, is still resident there, and she has lived in the county for almost all of her life, developing detailed and ranging knowledge of the county's heritage and stories. So, settle in for a good ol' chinwag which covers so many topics, from life as a jobbing writer to the joys and challenges of discussing folklore on social media, Icy's capacity to bend time, and some wonderful stories, from Silky, Northumberland's Swiss Army Knife-ghost, to The Laidly Worm, the Simonside Dwarves, and all sorts of other appropriately fabulous stuff. To learn more about Icy, read her blog, buy her books, and find links to he social media channels and the Fabulous Folklore Podcast, do visit her website at www.icysedgwick.com.And otherwise, we will be back on Monday with our brand new County Episode, where we will be digging into the history and folklore of Cheshire! The Three Ravens is an English Myth and Folklore podcast hosted by award-winning writers Martin Vaux and Eleanor Conlon.Released on Mondays, each weekly episode focuses on one of England's 39 historic counties, exploring the history, folklore and traditions of the area, from ghosts and mermaids to mythical monsters, half-forgotten heroes, bloody legends, and much, much more. Then, and most importantly, the pair take turns to tell a new version of an ancient story from that county - all before discussing what that tale might mean, where it might have come from, and the truths it reveals about England's hidden past...Bonus Episodes are released on Thursdays (Magic and Medicines about folk remedies and arcane spells, Three Ravens Bestiary about cryptids and mythical creatures, Dying Arts about endangered heritage crafts, and Something Wicked about folkloric true crime from across history) plus Local Legends episodes on Saturdays - interviews with acclaimed authors, folklorists, podcasters and historians with unique perspectives on that week's county. With a range of exclusive content on Patreon, too, including audio ghost tours, the Three Ravens Newsletter, and monthly Three Ravens Film Club episodes about folk horror films from across the decades, why not join us around the campfire and listen in?Learn more at www.threeravenspodcast.com, join our Patreon at www.patreon.com/threeravenspodcast, and find links to our social media channels here: https://linktr.ee/threeravenspodcast Get bonus content on Patreon Hosted on Acast. What if there was one piece of fitness equipment that was affordable, didn't take up much space, could get you both strong and flexible, and was fun to use? While that might sound too good to be true, my guest, Pat Flynn, would say you can find all those benefits in the old-school kettlebell. Pat, who's the author of Strong ON!: 101 Minimalist Kettlebell Workouts to Blast Fat, Build Muscle, and Boost Flexibility―in 20 Minutes or Less, calls kettlebells the Swiss Army knife of workout tools and the minimalist's ultimate secret fitness weapon.Today on the show, we unpack why Pat's such an advocate for bells, but before we get there, we first take a dive into his background in philosophy and why beginning a workout program takes faith. We then talk about how to use kettlebells to get an all-around fit physique, including the three kettlebell weights that make for an ideal starter set, the two best exercises for building muscle, the pyramid-shaped program that can facilitate body recomposition, how to incorporate progressive overload into kettlebell training, which kettlebell exercise Coach Dan John considers “the fat-burning athlete builder,” the “300 Swings Challenge” that will help you take a Bruce Lee approach to fitness, and much more.Resources Related to the PodcastAoM Article: Become Strong Like Bull — The Kettlebell WorkoutAoM Article: How to Perform 4 Kettlebell Exercises — An Illustrated GuideAoM Podcast #295 — Kettlebells and the Psychology of TrainingAoM Article: Strength, Power, Conditioning — How to Master the Kettlebell SwingConnect With Pat FlynnStrong ON! websiteKettlebell Quickies YouTube ChannelPat on IG
