Think you've heard all the creepiest legends? Think again! From vengeful spirits to terrifying creatures, these eerie and often overlooked tales might just make you question going anywhere after dark.IN THIS EPISODE: Spine-tingling ghost stories and eerie myths... come to life! Are any of them actually true? We'll explore the more obscure side of folklore with ghosts and legends that don't get the same amount of attention others do – but are certainly not to be ignored! (Part 3) In the spring of 2005, law enforcement officials in southern Louisiana had a growing number of murder victims they had begun to suspect were connected to an unidentified serial killer operating in the area. The victims were all men, mostly in their twenties and thirties, many had histories of drug and alcohol abuse or were known to police as sex-workers, and all had been strangled and dumped in secondary locations.Over the course of a decade, Ronald Dominique developed into one of the worst and most prolific serial killers in American history; yet his story and those of his victims remains largely unknown and ignored by the mainstream media. In August of 2005, Hurricane Katrina, one of the worst natural disasters to ever strike the US, devastated the Gulf Coast. Claiming the lives of over 2,000 people. Also claiming lives the same year, was a long-active serial killer; known as the Bayou Strangler or The Bayou Killer. Ronald Dominique was single handedly responsible for the brutal rape and murder of 23 men between 1997-2006. With his dumpy 5'5 frame and his ability to keep to himself, the unassuming Ron Dominique was able to rape and kill without ever being suspected; going unnoticed throughout rural Cajun country as he left a trail of bodies in his wake. So devoted to his sick craft that not even a natural disaster of biblical proportions could stop him. So today my friends, join us discuss the case of the Bayou Killer. Trigger warning, this episode does deal with sexual assault and incest, abduction and abuse. Story starts at 4:32 after the intro.

One man was responsible for the sexual assaults and strangulation deaths of 23 men.  These crimes occurred in various parts of Louisiana over several years. One witness provided the Task Force the vital information they needed to focus in on the suspect and ultimately apprehend the suspect.  Once he was in police custody, Ronald Dominique confessed to killing all 23 men.  I present Ronald Joseph Dominique, the Bayou Strangler.

Well, we did it. 4 serial killers in 4 weeks. We wrap it up with the gay potato man, Ronald Dominique. This puke had a very high body count for a lesser known serial killer. He preyed mostly on impoverished black men from New Orleans and the surrounding parishes. Between 1997 and 2006, he murdered at least 23 people, by luring them to their demise with promises of sex, money, alcohol, drugs, or even sex with "An attractive white woman" whom he had a picture of, which happened to be a picture of his niece. He was definitely one of the worst, but this story also comes with a twist. CKCB Host, Bill had an encounter with Ron in New Orleans in 2000, and he tells that story as well. We are joined by Mark, the host of Mental Illness Theater, and together, the 3 of us rip this douchebag a new asshole. And that is especially bad for Ron since his own asshole was broken. Check out Mental Illness Theater. If you like CKCB, you'll like them. They are available on all platforms. Check out our website. It has all our episodes and links to them on all platforms. Merch is coming soon, and it also has a link to Bill's original music, as well as our social media. The Katherine Massey Book Club @ The C.O.W.S. hosts the 4th and final study session on Fred Rosen's The Bayou Strangler: Louisiana's Most Gruesome Serial Killer. As Gus stated, there wasn't a lot of press coverage about Ronald J. Dominique and the 23 males he killed in Louisiana. There isn't a rich collection of video and written reports documenting family members's loss and the furor over the killings. That's probably irrelevant to Rosen - who died in 2020. At the very beginning of The Bayou Strangler, Rosen informs readers that some people's names have been changed, but all other elements of this history remain true to the record. During last week's reading, we discovered Rosen's book is flagrantly inaccurate. In fact, Gus and several listeners suspect Rosen changed names of characters so that he can more easily fabricate details of these crimes. Rosen tells us that one "John Banning" was "horny" and willing to accompany Dominique once offered the chance to earn a few nickels having sex with a White Woman. The allegedly feverish black male is actually named Ricky Wallace, and he has no need for anonymity. He was on the front of the artwork for a 2011 documentary on these crimes, and is mentioned in newspaper reports as well. Equally important, Rosen tells readers that "Banning" declined the offer and walked away. Wallace provided a sworn statement to his White parole officer, where he indicated that he had a standoff of at least twenty minutes inside Dominique's residence. After using a modicum of counter-violence, he convinced the White man to drive him back to where they met. Wallace said he threatened to strike Dominique in the face during the drive because the White man repeatedly reached for a compartment on the driver's door. There is no logical reason for Rosen to lie about these events. His fabrication is no more entertaining and it gives White enforcement officers unearned credit for solving this case. Wallace initiated contact with officers after the near fatal encounter with Dominique. #Katrina17 #NOLA #DelectableNegro #TheCOWS13 INVEST in The COWS – http://paypal.me/TheCOWS Cash App: https://cash.app/$TheCOWS CALL IN NUMBER: 720.716.7300 CODE: 564943#

Ronald Dominique confessed to raping and murdering 23 boys and men between the ages of 16 and 46 between 1997 and 2006 across six Louisiana parishes. When he was caught, investigators were shocked by... how harmless and unintelligent he seemed. How did THIS guy do what he did for so long?  In part, he was able to do what he did because he targeted the poorest members of one of the poorest area of the nation. Law enforcement where and when he was killing didn't have much of a budget to dedicate enough resources to finding him, and also, the people he killed weren't people, typically, who kept regular social schedules. Police had a hard time, over and over, figuring out exactly where victims had been right before the died. Ronald was NOT a criminal mastermind. Not be a long stretch. He just figured out a simple con to get guys to tie themselves up so he could do what he wanted to do to them, and he got away with it because those guys typically lived high risk lifestyles in an area full of hard times and few resources. Despite how dark this subject is, I actually find a lot of humor to lighten it up because in addition to being a serial killer, AND an idiot, Ronnie Joe was also a Patti Labelle impersonator, a dude who had some super interesting rationalizations for why he had to do what he did, and a man with, apparently, the tightest, most fragile butthole on the planet. Bad Magic Productions Monthly Patreon Donation:  In honor of the passing of Jeff Burton from the Rizzuto Show aka the Rizz Show on 105.7 FM in St Louis, we are donating (amount tbd) to Jeff's charity of choice - Kids Rock Cancer. Last week, Rosen detailed how Dominique dumped a body during the middle of a 2004 Tropical Storm. Although Dominique killed mostly black males, he also murdered several White Men. Listeners acutely noted that the White author did not include the same pornographic details about the nude White corpses as is the case with black victims. Rosen also takes a number of cheap shots at the Victims as well as their family members. Black teen murder victim Datrell Woods was described as: "A real piece of work." Rosen informs readers that his family never visited him or contacted. White victims like alleged crack abuser Larry Matthews are not subjected to thinly veiled insults. The Katherine Massey Book Club @ The C.O.W.S. hosts the 2nd study session on Fred Rosen's The Bayou Strangler: Louisiana's Most Gruesome Serial Killer. Ironically, this book and the book we just finished, Absolute Madness, are both "true crime" texts written by White authors detailing the slaughter of dozens of black males. Both books were published in 2017. In fact, the parallels between these two serial killings are unrelenting. The rampant child rape within the Roman Catholic Church is a core element of what transpired in Buffalo and in New Orleans. Listeners and Gus T. suspected Joseph G. Christopher may have been raped and/or molested by his father or a member of the Buffalo diocese. Ronald Dominique alleged that he was molested as a child by a Catholic priest. The Houma-Thibodaux and New Orleans's dioceses released lengthy lists of White men accused of raping children. In fact, the FBI recently launched an investigation into the child molestation charges against the New Orleans diocese. They're employing the very same Mann Act used against the great Jack Johnson more than a century ago. Last week Rosen employed the term "Cajun culture" to describe the widespread sexual abuse of children by adults - often including parents and other family members of the victim. Gus reminded listeners that southern Louisiana has a centuries long, proud history of sexual debauchery of all sorts. All of this evidence makes it difficult to believe that a White man would be mercilessly teased about being "gay" in this part of the world during any part of the last 200 years. #Katrina17 #NOLA #DelectableNegro #TheCOWS13 INVEST in The COWS – http://paypal.me/TheCOWS Cash App: https://cash.app/$TheCOWS CALL IN NUMBER: 720.716.7300 CODE: 564943#

Even with our numerous broadcasts and years of coverage of these events, we completely omitted Ronald Dominique. For almost a decade, a White man stalked black males in southern Louisiana with zero suspicion. He anally raped and killed nearly two dozen black males before being convicted in 2006. When we think of serial killers, the name Ronald Joseph Dominique doesn't necessarily come to mind. But while Dominique—who was later given the moniker "the Bayou Strangler"—never gained the notoriety of the Dahmers and Gacys of the world, his crimes were no less heinous. In fact, his body count makes him one of the most prolific killers in American history: 23 men died at Dominique's hands between 1997 and 2006.So how did a vindictive killer evade the police for nearly a decade? Dominique's success can be attributed to two factors: As a pizza delivery man, he maintained a low profile in his Louisiana town. No one suspected that Dominique—an overweight and balding 30-something—was capable of murder. Likewise, his victims—primarily gay African American men—lived on the fringes of society. With the promise of paid sex, Dominique would lure these men into his car before raping and then strangling them to death. Only years later, after DNA evidence linked him to the crimes, was he finally put behind bars. Over the course of 9 years, Ronald Dominque terrorized the male population in New Orleans and the surrounding areas. The Bayou strangler is a very rare breed of serial killer. Of the 23 men he raped and murder the ages range from 16-46 and race and sexual orientation didn't seem to play a role in how he chose his victim. Dominque by appearance seemed to be a mild manner unthreatening gay man which allowed him to lure his victims home. ------Email the podcast: msomindpod@gmail.com------Follow MSOM on social media:https://twitter.com/Msomindpodhttp://instagram.com/msomp_od/https://www.facebook.com/msomindspod-----Thank you for listening and make sure to subscribe and review wherever possible

Despite his prolific victim count, the media has sparsely covered the crimes of Ronald Dominique. The lack of coverage for this prolific killer is news being overshadowed by the sudden devastation of Hurricane Katrina in August 2005.

In this week's episode, Jade discusses American serial killer and rapist, Ronald Dominque also known as The Bayou Strangler who murdered at least 23 men in Louisiana between 1997 and 2006. He's gotten away with a lot of crimes and nearly got away with murder when Hurricane Katrina hit in 2005. This serial killer isn't talked about like Ted Bundy so I thought it was interesting. Welcome to Thibodaux, Louisiana, the "Queen City of LaFourche"! First settled in the 18th century by French colonists, the area was acquired by the United States as part of the Louisiana Purchase in 1803.  The town was incorporated under the name Thibodauxville in 1830, but was shortened to its current name in 1838.  From the early 1800s until after the Civil War, Thibodaux was the trading center for the numerous sugar cane plantations in the region.  After the Civil War and the Reconstruction Era, civil unrest caused by sugar cane plantation owners attempting to return to slavery era conditions led to the Thibodaux Massacre where at least 50 African Americans were murdered in the midst of a workers' strike.  The town was also the birthplace of "The Bayou Strangler", Ronald Joseph Dominique.  Dominique was a serial killer who murdered at least 23 men and boys in Louisiana between 1997 and 2006.  While this certainly paints a dark picture of Thibodaux's past, the town has been referenced in a kinder light in songs by a number of popular musicians like Hank Williams, George Striat, and Jimmy Buffett.  Join us for a quick trip through this interesting small town on the banks of the Bayou Lafourche!
