Bev is an artist. In high school, Bev spent her free time in the art studio painting, sculpting, and drawing — she was always great at focusing deeply on one project at a time and ensuring that it was truly “done” before moving onto the next one. After college, she began taking on some freelance design work for some friends and local nonprofits in the greater Columbus area. And while she didn't know it at the time, a project here and a project there would eventually transform Bethge Graphic Design into Method which would then become Ologie. Recognized as one of Columbus' 30 most influential women by Business First, Bev continues to be engaged in the community, particularly helping aspiring women leaders become successful, and providing opportunities for young people to learn about the creative industry. Tune into the exciting story of how Bev built and scaled one of the country's most respected higher education branding and marketing agencies – working with brands like Harvard, University of Pennsylvania, and Purdue, just to name a few!You can connect with Bev on LinkedIn and learn more about Ologie by visiting their website. It’s a not unfamiliar feeling, to know you’re ready for change, but not to be sure exactly what that change might be… And it’s what Bev Ryan felt when she hit her mid-forties and found herself yearning for a new direction. The opportunity to “do her own thing” was beckoning. With a successful career as a High School Teacher in her toolkit, Bev started to explore her Next Chapter, inspired by the Barbara Sher book “I could do anything if I only knew what it was”. She dug down into her essence, identifying what she felt switched her on and excited her. New chapters in self-publishing begun to emerge, firstly with her own magazines and then a metamorphosis into a Non-Fiction Book Coach and Publishing Consultant. Today, Bev works with professional service providers whose purpose for publishing is to highlight their expertise in a book, even when they’re not natural writers. This is a vast and deep conversation ranging from Bev’s own journey to top tips for your own publishing adventure. Show Notes Recognise that fear is normal, but lack of support and isolation are dream killers. Get curious about your fear – what is it trying to tell you? What’s in your own rucksack? Self-authorship is the ultimate form of personal development There is such credibility attached to publishing – recognition and authority. Brush past the misbeliefs – you can do this!
It’s the 300th Ellis episode! Yup, the Next 153 Project represents the 3×100 times you’ve heard Bev & Ryan invade your earholes. Of course, there are more than 300 podcasts in total on this channel, but the numbers get confusing and who’s counting anyway? So…Speedgimmewhatineed! This is such a fun thriller and it’s one of the very best of the Die Hard ripoffs. Jan de Bont (directing his first-ever film!) hit a major home run. Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock make a terrific team and one of us also has big hearts for Dennis Hopper as the mad bomber. We talk about Hopper’s lowball ransom, that ludicrous bus jump, Reeves’ eternal likability and how could we NOT riff on the “cahns”? This is very simply the best 40 minutes of podcasting you’ll enjoy all day! Sparkplug Coffee started being our sponsor in the summer of 2014…and they still are. Use our promo code (“top100project”) and drag a 10% discount outta them. We do indeed tweet from time to time: @moviefiend51 and @bevellisellis
