Hurley Haywood A man who graciously entered the motorsports history books with a gentle smile and kind eyes, Hurley Haywood has the kind of glamour and style that befits a socialite of the age. But that is the outer skin: underneath he was a fierce competitor who made his way to the podium a record number of times in the world's major sports car races! Synonymous with Porsche and Brumos racing he had a longtime racing partnership with Peter Gregg and many others. Hurley came from money but you wouldn't have known it when he got behind the wheel. As tough as anyone, but with the intelligence to know when to attack and when to manage his equipment. This combination meant he was in demand for most of his career as the driver who could win races and championships. A private man, Hurley also authored a great book on his life and a Netflix documentary simply named ‘Hurley' that allowed him to share with the world his own journey in his words. I met up with Hurley at his beautiful home in St Augustine, Fl where the world of noisy, fast cars seemed a distant memory. Until we talked.

David Donohue is a champion racing driver with a long and impressive resume that includes Touring Cars, Prototypes, NASCAR Stock Car and Craftsman Truck Series. David will be driving a Brumos livery Porsche GT2 RS Clubsport at Pikes Peak this year.  

Today's cars are built on the knowledge, experience and ideas of the early innovators. But some of the innovation in the cars you'll see in the Brumos Collection was the first of its kind – those creators started with nothing but their imagination and an unyielding passion for pushing the boundaries of what was possible. There were no computer models or previous designs to build upon. In fact, the early masters often sketched designs on the floor of their workshop, creating from scratch and by hand, things that have never been done or even imagined before. The early pioneers created some of the most timeless and innovative aspects of the automobile that set the stage for anyone who followed. It's these brave and talented souls the Brumos team wanted to recognize and pay homage to the cars themselves, memorabilia and behind-the-scenes stories you'll hear when touring the collection. It is our hope that a walk through this magnificent assemblage of automotive history will spark creativity, curiosity and create special memories for all who experience it. When the team at Brumos decided to bring this collection to life, the decision was based on more than just showcasing the cars themselves. Although the collection does represent some of the most historically significant cars you'll ever see, we also wanted to recognize the drivers and the inventors behind these incredible machines.

Had a good conversation with Andrew Davis on how he became a racing fan at a young age to being asked to drive with Hurley Haywood and Brumos racing. 

Mark Pribanic is a vintage car enthusiast who lives in Neptune Beach, Florida. Unlike many car collectors, Mark drives his 1958 Porsche 356 and Brumos Porsche race inspired 1958 VW bus daily. We’re talking over 275,000 miles through 33 states over 19 years of ownership. For over six years he has organized the Bulli Brigade Vintage VW bus event where the mission is to promote and preserve 1967 and earlier split-window VW bus enthusiasts. Mark is an entrepreneur and owns a catering business and when he’s not working you’ll find him at IMSA road races, HSR Road Races, at vintage Porsche events or traveling around the USA in his number 59, Brumos tribute race bus or his 356 Porsche.

Hurley Haywood’s racing career goes all the way back to 1969 when he raced with Peter Gregg at Watkins Glen. They won that first race together that started a path in racing that’s unmatched. He built his career behind the wheel of a #59 Brumos Porsche, racing for the Jacksonville, Florida-based team that’s lasted over 40 years. The number of major race wins and championships he accumulated in his career makes him the most successful endurance racing driver in history. That record still stands today. Hurley has won IMSA Championships, The Daytona 24 Hours, Sebring 12 Hours, and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the list goes on, and on. Awards include the Motorsports Hall of Fame, Florida Sports Hall of Fame, and many others.
