Why was Jesus able to sleep in the middle of the storm? The same reason Paul was able to eat in the middle of the storm. He had his eyes on the Word that had been spoken. He gave the Word: Let's go to the other side. The Word had been given, and the Word would be so. He believed the Word, not the circumstances and lived in accordance with it.

Many leaders time the time to really think about and reflect on decision-making. I also think formal leaders spend a lot of time thinking about resources and strategic initiatives and deadlines. I don't think as many formal leaders set aside time to consider how the way they communicate intersects with leadership and power. Power can exist without leadership, but leadership cannot exist without power. On this episode of The Communicative Leader, we're going to consider power as influence and what are "go-to" communication strategies convey to our team. But we didn't forget about our informal leaders! In this episode, we make specific suggestions for how followers can embrace and step into their position power too. 6 February 2022 | Ss. Paul Miki and Companions | Menlo Park, Calif. This week, on a rain-soaked walk to a coffee shop, I share some thoughts from Dom Jean-Baptiste Chautard on being reservoirs rather than channels, and what it means to live from the overflow of God's love. In our ongoing Carmelite conversation, we follow St. Teresa into the second dwelling places, where we learn how the Devil tempts souls to turn back and the necessity of perseverance in the practice of prayer. Are you doing what and being who God wants you to or what people want you to? Well, you need to be concerned more about what God thinks than them. Afraid of being rejected or misunderstood by others if you do, then listen in. [Scripture Reference: 2 Corinthians 5:17; Acts 2:1-13; Acts 2:14-41; John14:10-23] INVITATION FOR SALVATION If you haven't accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior in order to receive eternal salvation but would like to, according to Romans 10:9, all you have to do is confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead and you will be saved. Want a little help with that, say this simple prayer: “Lord God, forgive me for my sins. I believe Jesus died for my sins and rose again so that I may have eternal life in You. So, I accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. Amen” It's as simple as that. Now, you're a part of the family of God. Wherever you are, find a local church or a group of believers that can help and support you on your new journey in your new life in Christ Jesus. Many blessings to you as you walk in who God created you to be doing what He blessed and equipped you to do. You are God's Child. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/gods-child71/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/gods-child71/support

1 Thessalonians is about a man ministering to a young group of believers who are starting to face persecution. Paul is telling this young group of believers, “Quit looking at your circumstances and be reminded that Jesus is coming.” Our hope is not in this world. Our hope and joy that keeps us moving forward is found in Jesus. God has chosen you. He wants to use you. The Creator of the Universe has placed us in places to use us to influence those around us. His choice was you. Quit running and trust in the finished work of Christ. Let the gospel change your life. Let the gospel transform who you are. The Linguistiology Podcast: Talking everyday words with Kathy Rast
WARNING (YES I'M YELLING): THIS EPISODE CONTAINS THE BEST WORDS THAT ARE TYPICALLY CONSIDERED OFFENSIVE, RUDE, SWEARING. THE PURPOSE OF THIS EPISODE IS TO SHARE AN ALTERNATIVE VIEW ON A DATED DEFINITION. ONLY LISTEN if you are ready, or already do, love to consider the full range a word can extend. This conversation is sparked because I say Ricky Gervais beautiful serious 'After Life' was rated R because of one word and the very next thing I watched had horrific violence and was rated M. What the ?! This led me to ponder how it may be time to shift our baseline. I warn and encourage you to hear how the C word in my house has gone from the worse word to one of love. Swearing has a purpose in my orbit and no word is left behind. Swearing is only used for a specific purpose and is not used for another. When these conditions are met, swearing aligns with safe and flowing conversations. Listen curiously with a soft eye and cheeky smile in realising the wonder of these words. Just by being curious we can change that old story and shape a new. Kx Kathy Swears Scale: All the best swear words said with love. So many innuendos as this was recorded on a Friday. Only listen if you already feel comfortable with swearing or want to grow to.

Bishop Anthony “Tony” Collins was born in 1957 in Orlando, Florida to a Christian father and mother – Emmett and Annie Collins. He has been married to his only wife Gail since 1981 and has only two children both from this union – daughters Erica and Lauren. He is also the grandfather of five handsome boys and two lovely daughters, by the grace of Jesus Christ. At the age of 23 he surrendered his life to Jesus. He has held positions of Christian authority in several denominational churches. He as served as the leader of several ministries including men's ministry, taught Sunday Morning Bible Study, Teen Ministry, Trustee Ministry, and served as a Deacon prior to being called into the ministry to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ in April of 2000. After having been an associate pastor for several years, on July 4, 2004. Bishop Anthony Collins answered the call of The Lord to start an intentionally multicultural, non-denominational Christian church in Knoxville, TN and The House of Worship was born. God has given him a clear vision of Black, White, Hispanic and Asians worshiping together. It is a vision of the rich, poor, morally good and morally struggling, hand in hand in pursuit of a closer relationship with Christ Jesus. His vision is of a church open to all people regardless of background, ethnicity, socio-economic status or class. Currently The House of Worship has a diverse congregation along with a diverse spiritual leadership team. By God's grace, the result of his obedience and spiritual tenacity has been a long list of miracles and changed lives. The House of Worship meets each Sunday at our church located at 190 Manhattan Avenue, Oak Ridge, Tennessee. We are conveniently located and there is plenty of parking and we are handicap accessible. Bishop Collins was consecrated as a Bishop, in Apostolic Succession, in August of 2018. Bishop Collins is President of Houses of Worship International Christian Partnership that is working in conjunction with The House of Worship to build an orphanage and school in Mexico. Jesus is using Bishop Collins, The House of Worship, and HOWICP to positively impact the world for Christ.

“It is not death that a man should fear, but he should fear never beginning to live.”Marcus AureliusLast episode we learned how How Not To Die.Today we contemplate the flip side: How To Die.Everybody dies. Everybody. Of course we know this to be true. But when was the last time you had a direct experience with someone in the grips of the undeniable reality that afflicts us all without exception? Most people have never even seen a dead person, let alone held the hand of someone expiring their last breath. Why is the one thing we all share in common seemingly deleted from our daily human experience?Because our culture is carefully crafted to obscure, whitewash, sanitize and obviate every unpalatable aspect of the frightening reality that scares the shit out of us more than anything else.As a result, we sleepwalk through life pretending it doesn't exist. Subconsciously, we might even harbor the completely insane thought that somehow, some way, we will be the exception to the rule and find a way to escape such distasteful finality. Then, when death rears it's unfamiliar head (it always does), we recoil. We get uncomfortable. Paralyzed by fear and morbidity, we stumble with our words. Lacking the capacity to even have an open and honest conversation about it, we retreat into a shame spiral.Death breeds fear. Fear breeds resistance. Resistance breeds denial. And denial never helped anyone. This is not a healthy relationship with death. So let go of the fear. Free yourself of the resistance. And let's form a new relationship with death. One that not only acknowledges it, but embraces it as our most potent communal experience. One that guilds our lives with meaning. One that allows us to be more present in our lives. One that unites rather than divides. One that provides fertile soil for gratitude. For me, these concepts are not academic. As I type, Julie's 92-year old father is on his deathbed. It is unlikely he will live to see the weekend. And so for the last several days, our lives have been on hold as our children and extended family have gathered around Larry Mathis to celebrate his remarkable life. We've told stories. Sung songs. Held his hand. Kissed his forehead. Said our goodbyes as he slips out of conscious awareness. This week we've talked a lot about death. This podcast is an extension of that ongoing conversation.Peace + Plants,P.S. – Thank you for an amazing 3 years as we celebrate our 200th episode.
