By the title alone, you probably assume that this is clickbait. On one hand, it is. Of course I'd love for you to bring your friends to church. But on the other hand, people who are far from God are typically far more receptive to the Good News if they are at your dinner table as opposed to coming to church on Sunday. You have a testimony and you have a story for a reason. Start there. Don't rely on the pastor. You got this! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/hampton-dortch/message
If your "church hopping" goes from weeks... to months... to years... it's time to pick one. Yes, you need to find a biblically sound church. But obsessing over your preferences (worship style, entertainment ability from pastor, people who are "like you") is not what you are called to do as a Christian. You will never experience the beautiful nature of the body of Christ until you go all in. Just pick one:) --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/hampton-dortch/message

As Christians, the most loving thing we can do is to speak truth God's truth, even if that means going against the rest of society. On today's edition of Family Talk, Dr. Tim Clinton concludes his discussion with author, Eric Metaxas, about his latest book, Letter to the American Church. Eric also challenges us to wake up and live out our Christian faith, for as James 2:17 says, Faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. The question is, are we listening? During World War II, Adolf Hitler and the Nazi regime wreaked havoc in Europe, which resulted in the loss of six million lives, while the German Church remained silent. Could that happen again? According to Eric Metaxas, the similarities in the actions of the Church during WWII are hauntingly similar to what is happening today in our society. On this edition of Family Talk, Dr. Tim Clinton and Eric discuss his book, Letter to the American Church, and the role of the American Body of Christ in the culture. If we are to keep history from repeating itself, we must stand and speak out against the modern-day evils or risk being guilty of helping those evils to thrive. In this sermon Pastor Moses Estrada opens up our thinking on what it means to struggle with your faith, and how even the greatest struggled, yet God loved them and used them powerfully for His work.
Pastor Filip shares a stirring message challenging the assumptions on an age in love with everyone having their own personal "my truth." But he encourages us to see that there are objective truths that everyone should base their life on, that will change how we make our everyday decisions.
In this second sermon of the Church series Pastor Filip unpacks what it means to have a purpose deeper than your career, challenging young adults to consider the church as a vital place to serve and be part of.
Conversation with a Post-Mormon on Postmodernism and The Church - Faith, what is it? - Shelves - Everything in life is placed on a shelf - Chris fell away from the Church "philosophically" - Ex-Mormons quickly realize that there is a lack of community - The New Atheist movement failed because of Wokism - Greg - "The number one reason for people leaving the Church today is NOT Church history. It is Identitarianism." - Many "good Mormons" fall prey to Identitarianism. Website - www.cwicmedia.com
Pastor Joey starts off the Church series with a moving conviction as he shared some sobering stats, 64% or 2/3 of emerging adults after high school walk away from church for some period of time, and at least a quarter of EAs don't ever come back to church. He then encouraged us to be resilient in our faith and how important having a solid identity in Christ is to developing that resilience. And finally, that that identity in Jesus is shaped within a context, having the right context of people and circumstances really matters. He had a heartfelt appeal not to walk away, but to remain in a church context to live your best life because its where you have ppl that support your faith and encourage growth in Jesus.

We're in Part 3 of our I LOVE MY CHURCH series this week and Pastor Dustin takes us to Matthew 14 to the story of Jesus walking on water. This example, and many others throughout the Bible, show us that faith isn't about certainty or playing it safe. Faith is doing the ridiculous to see God do the miraculous!
There are obviously hundreds of reasons people leave the Church, ranging from "the pastor left" to "graduating high school and entering College". From the Church pushing Tithing to Church Doctrine or Musical Style being changed. Not only are people leaving The Church but they're even being drawn away and discouraged from their intimate relationship with Jesus. Are their Valid reasons to leave the Church, if so, at what cost? Where are we then to go after we leave? Is it Gods plan for us to be alone and not strive for fellowship with the saints? Nothing weighs heavier in my heart than the falling away of a believer or even "Possible Believer". With all of that being said, lets remind ourselves we will take account of our actions with God for what we do in this side of Heaven. In todays episode I have a few people who will be joining the discussion, I hope you enjoy the episode and freely share it with your social media friends. In season 4, we ask the question, Why Church? In this year of 2021, where everything is still a bit different, and some things feel similar. Let's take some time and ask- WHY CHURCH?This year has reminded us, as parents, that we are the ultimate leader with our children. This has always been true; just in the past, we had different support systems to help us along the way. In 2020, those support systems looked different, and we took a heavy load of teaching, tutoring, loving, disciplining, counseling, playing, etc., with our children. Each week we will be asking the question, Why is Church influential. Today we are talking about the church and community. This week we are interviewing a dear friend of mine, Emma Williams. She is an ordained United Methodist pastor, has a passion for faith development. She is a mother of 2 children, and currently works at our United Methodist conference office focusing on Faith Formation.
Sam's guest is a local pastor and ministerial leader who shares openly about the consequences of the 'God and Money' conversation for many pastors - more importantly, though, they discuss the possibilities for what the benefits 'could be' for churches, congregants, and communities if practical financial possibilities were to be incorporated into church programming.
