An Iranian refugee puts a human face on the fight for freedom from Iran's regime as author, speaker, and pastor David Nasser joins Al, Zach, and Jase to tell the story of his family's escape from Iran after the 1979 revolution. David describes the terrifying moment soldiers dragged his father away, their desperate escape plan, and the loneliness he felt after arriving in America as an outsider. But a group of Christians serving as volunteer waiters in his father's restaurant changed everything, eventually leading David and his whole family to Jesus. The guys also discuss the difference between Iran's people and its tyrannical regime, the courage of underground Iranian Christians, and why freedom is a gift Americans should never take for granted. What does it mean that God “has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness” (1:3)? Does this mean we don't need any outside resources like books or other people? How would you explain this?3. One way we grow and become “partakers of the divine nature” is by hearing and believing His “precious and very great promises” (1:4). What promises has God made that encourage you most? 4. What are some practical ways we can make sure we continue believing and trusting so we keep growing in Christ? Our Active Role in Spiritual Growth (2 Peter 1:5-11)5. Peter mentions eight characteristics in vv. 5-7. We are supposed to “make every effort” to grow in these areas. In which of these areas do you need to grow?6. In v.8 we learn we should be “increasing” in these eight areas and in our spiritual growth. Are you in a season of spiritual growth right now? If not, what next steps can you take?7. Do you tend to emphasize the active role or the passive role in your spiritual growth? Which aspect needs some extra attention right now? We also unpack what the Third Great Awakening actually looks like on the ground from China's persecuted believers outsmarting facial recognition to the Clapham model giving pastors a real blueprint to reshape public opinion and culture before the next crisis hits.   Podcast Episode 2102: Breaking - Update on the Underground Church in Iran | don't miss this! CarsonStott on Suffering and Glory in the Cross - John StottINTRODUCTION: All Scripture is ProfitableA Final Perspective on SufferingChristian suffering is temporary and purposeful.• Temporary: Your suffering will not last forever. (5:10a).• Sovereign: Our gracious God has a long term plan for our glory (5:10b).• Purposeful: God uses suffering to restore, establish, strengthen, & ground us (5:10c).• Praise - God's sovereign purpose and grace prompt our praise (5:11).A Final Perspective on Partners and PeaceGod's grace is where we stand when times are tough.• The Letter: A message about the true grace of God (5:12a).• The Exhortation: Stand firm on the foundation of God's grace in suffering (5:12b).• The Greetings: Partners in ministry care for one another (5:13).• The Benediction: Be affectionate and rest in the peace of God (5:14).In the final analysis, when Christians sufferthey can trust that God is sovereign, suffering grows us,and God' grace is sufficient for everything we experience.Suffering SpeaksBut pain insists upon being attended to.God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pains: it is His megaphone to rouse a deaf world. C.S. Lewis (The Problem of Pain)Home Church Questions1. Temporary SufferingPeter says that we “suffer for a little while.” Share a story or two of people whose suffering puts your own suffering in perspective as “for a little while.” Think about missionaries in persecuted areas who live theirwhole lives under threat, or someone like Joni Eareckson Tada, who has walked faithfully with the Lord for 76 years now, almost 60 of those years as a quadriplegic.2. Restored, Established, Strengthened and GroundedGod has a purpose for our suffering, and it is not always to alleviate it. How has God used suffering in your life to accomplish the purposes set forth in this passage? How have you been equipped, solidified, bolstered, and grounded?3. To Him be the “power” forever, Amen.Usually, we would expect the word “glory” where we read “power” or “dominion.” Why is “power” appropriate? Karen Jobes claims that God's eternal might “makes Roman glory look like a withered flower.”When have you experienced this?4. Stand Fast in the True Grace of God.Peter says his purpose was to encourage his readers. Have you been encouraged by this book? How? How do we “Stand fast in the true grace of God?”5. A Final Look Back:As we finish the book of 1 Peter, think back over the messages and flip through the passages. What encouragements have you taken with you? In what way does 1 Peter provide a unique message that you need?UPG FOCUS: The Amma Kenanga in India The Amma Kodaga are a small Hindu people group living in the hilly regions of southern India, where they farm crops like coffee and spices and live in close-knit, tradition-rich communities. Though the New Testament is available in their language, there are no known believers among them. Pray for the Unreached: The Samaritans in West Bank/GazaThe Samaritans are a very small, ancient community living primarily near Mount Gerizim in the West Bank and in Holon, Israel. Descended from a long and complex history, they maintain distinct religious traditions centered on the Pentateuch and worship on Mount Gerizim. Though they share historical roots with Judaism, they remain a separate and tightly knit ethnic faith community. Pray that, just as in the New Testament, many Samaritans would encounter Jesus personally and embrace Him as the promised Messiah, and begin multiplying house churches.FinancesWeekly Budget 34,615Giving For 04/05 30,714Giving For 04/12 22,618YTD Budget 1,419,231Giving 1,736,163 OVER/(UNDER) 316,932 Easter OfferingAt Fellowship, we've seen firsthand how something as simple as a van can open doors for ministry—serving students, supporting outreach, and making it easier for people to connect and belong. Host Laura Wilcox welcomes Ashley back to the Sacred Story Podcast for a conversation about transformed lives in the Middle East. Ashley shares how the underground church in Iran is one of the fastest-growing underground churches in the world, despite intense persecution. Ashley describes her ministry in another Middle Eastern country where Iranians and other nationalities have settled. While she and her husband are always looking for the next "person of peace" who is ready to hear the good news about Jesus, they also wait patiently and prayerfully in their interactions with others for God to make it clear that someone is seeking Him. For example, one woman saw a photo of believers in Jesus and expressed she wanted the hope she saw in their eyes. She and others in her circle of influence soon came to faith in Christ. Laura asks Ashley how Western believers can learn from the suffering, persecuted church in the Middle East. Ashley shares that the suffering church there is also a thriving church, marked by a joy and perseverance many Western believers have not yet imagined.  Laura also asks how listeners can join God's harvest in the Middle East. Ashley says, "We want to connect with Western believers who have a God-given burden for the Middle East. We're called together to fulfill the Great Commission." Ashley asks for prayer for open doors, protection from the enemy and wisdom in the relationships and conversations she and her husband have as they look for those persons of peace. Find out more about Ashley's ministry in Sacred Story Podcast Episodes 53, 18, and 7.  You can also join others in daily prayer at Joshua Project's Unreached of the Day , also available as an app. This app/website provides information and prayer requests about an unreached people daily. In this episode of the China Desk Podcast, host Steve Yates speaks with Grace Jin Drexel, human rights advocate and daughter of Pastor Ezra Jin, founder of one of China's largest underground house church networks, about the Chinese Communist Party's intensifying crackdown on religious freedom. Grace shares the personal story of her father's detention in October 2025, when Chinese authorities carried out a coordinated nationwide sweep targeting independent Christian leaders across multiple cities. She explains how her father's church — which had grown from a local Beijing congregation into a nationwide network — became part of a broader campaign to suppress independent religious activity outside state control. The conversation provides a rare, firsthand look at how religious life actually functions inside China, including the key differences between state-sanctioned churches and underground “house churches.” Grace describes how government-controlled churches operate under strict oversight — including limits on worship, leadership, and even the number of baptisms — while independent churches seek to practice faith freely but face increasing risk of surveillance, shutdown, and detention. The discussion also explores: • The CCP's strategy of “Sinicization” and why it targets religion • How faith communities are viewed as a threat to state control and civil society • The rise of underground house churches and their rapid growth in China • Why many Chinese citizens are turning to religion amid a “spiritual vacuum” • The role of churches in providing community services, disaster relief, and social support • How new laws and regulations are used to justify crackdowns and mass arrests • The human toll of detention, lack of communication, and restricted legal access • What policymakers, advocates, and everyday citizens can do to raise awareness and apply pressure Grace also recounts the moment she learned of her father's detention while living in the United States, describing the uncertainty, fear, and urgency that followed as she began advocating publicly for his release and for others facing similar persecution. This is both a deeply personal story and a broader warning about the future of religious freedom in China — and the growing willingness of the CCP to target independent communities it cannot control. 00:00 — Introduction and Grace Jin Drexel joins the podcast 00:32 — Background: her father, Zion Church, and the 2025 crackdown 01:30 — Growing up in China as a pastor's daughter 04:29 — Life in Beijing, the U.S., and returning to China 07:12 — Rise of Zion Church and transition to a nationwide network 09:20 — State churches vs underground house churches explained 12:23 — Government control, surveillance, and restrictions on worship 15:23 — Demand for Christianity and China's “spiritual vacuum” 19:23 — Why the CCP fears religion and independent organizations 23:37 — Churches as civil society and community support networks 26:07 — Crackdowns, new laws, and coordinated arrests across China 30:09 — Mass detentions and targeting of church leaders 34:22 — Learning of her father's arrest and initial response 39:00 — Lack of communication, legal limits, and health concerns 41:11 — Advocacy efforts and speaking before policymakers 43:27 — What governments and individuals can do to help 44:48 — Where to follow updates and support the cause 45:50 — Closing thoughts and final message Watch Full-Length Interviews: https://www.youtube.com/@ChinaDeskFNW

Psalm 31:24 (NIV): “Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord.” Across the world at this very hour, unseen disciples whisper the name of Jesus behind closed doors, in hidden rooms, in fields, in prisons, and in silence. Faith is costly in North Korea, Afghanistan, Nigeria, and China. Daily life for them includes threats, confiscation of Bibles, fear of arrest, monitoring, isolation, pressure to deny Christ, danger to families, and constant uncertainty. Yet the Holy Spirit strengthens them with a courage human strength cannot create. Jesus, stand with every believer who worships quietly today. Strengthen hearts that feel afraid. Protect those who gather secretly. Comfort those who have lost homes, opportunities, or family because they follow You. Cover pastors who preach in whispers. Guard those who carry Scripture pages hidden in clothing. Surround Christians who face harassment at work, hostility from neighbours, or pressure from authorities. Fortify the weary. Lift the discouraged. Let the Lion of Judah roar courage over those who feel alone. Holy Spirit, give supernatural boldness where fear fights for control. Give wisdom when decisions must be made quickly. Give peace where danger feels near. Give hope where despair tries to rise. Let miracles happen in the dark — protection, provision, revelation, strength, unity, and unseen angelic covering. We declare that no threat can silence the gospel, no system can erase the church, and no enemy can extinguish the flame You have placed in Your people. Jesus, be their shield, their defender, their courage, and their comfort. Yahweh, hold every persecuted believer in Your everlasting arms. Jesus, strengthen every persecuted believer today. Send us your feedback — we're listeningHebrews 13:3 — Jesus, Strengthen Every Secret Believer Standing Firm Under Pressure Today From London to Islamabad, Beijing, Moscow, Seoul, Lagos, and Cairo, this 9 a.m. global devotional stands with the persecuted, hidden, silenced, underground, scattered, whispering, and imprisoned church. These are the exact searches rising across global platforms this morning — prayer for persecuted Christians, underground church prayer, secret believers suffering, Christians in danger today, faith under fire, believers in prison for Jesus, prayer for boldness, prayer for believers under attack, prayer for Bible access. Hebrews 13:3 (NIV): “Continue to remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.” Acts 4:29 (NIV): “Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness.” Jesus, today we lift before You every hidden believer who whispers Your name in danger, fear, secrecy, and darkness. We pray for Your sons and daughters in Belarus, Eritrea, India, and Pakistan, where the cost of following You is high and the pressure is relentless. Strengthen those who worship in basements, forests, safe houses, and hidden rooms. Protect those who carry torn pages of Scripture because owning a Bible brings danger. Uphold those interrogated, monitored, threatened, or imprisoned. Shelter families torn apart by persecution. Heal those wounded in body, mind, or spirit. Guard the underground pastors, evangelists, worship leaders, and disciples who courageously keep the flame of the gospel alive in places where Christianity is outlawed or violently opposed. Jesus, give supernatural courage where fear rises, supernatural peace where intimidation grows, supernatural endurance where exhaustion deepens. Let the Holy Spirit give boldness that cannot be broken, joy that cannot be stolen, and hope that cannot be suffocated by oppression. Strengthen secret gatherings, protect hidden worship, multiply Scripture access, open new pathways for the gospel, and confuse the plans of persecutors. I declare that the God of Israel watches over every persecuted believer. Jesus stands beside every prisoner. The Holy Spirit strengthens every hidden church. The darkness will not overcome the light. The gospel will advance. The persecuted church is not forgotten, not abandoned, and not alone — for the Lord Himself is their shield, their defenSupport the showFor more inspiring content, visit RBChristianRadio.net — your home for daily devotionals, global prayer, and biblical encouragement for every season of life. In this unforgettable episode of Shoulder to Shoulder, Pastor Doug and Rabbi Pesach sit down with Dr. Michael Brawan of Kenya and Rev. Adam Hajj Muhammad of Somalia, a former imam whose decision to follow Jesus cost him almost everything. Adam describes his childhood in a radically devout Muslim family, his rise as a respected Islamic judge and mosque builder, and the moment a divine encounter shattered everything he thought he knew. From that point on, his life became a dangerous walk of faith.  Adam shares how his public declaration of Christian faith triggered a violent backlash: his mother and wives were murdered, early converts were slaughtered, and there was a price on his head. Dr. Brawan recounts the extraordinary rescue operation that smuggled Adam out of Somalia in a coffin, and Adam explains why he later chose to return and plant underground churches despite the constant threat of torture and death. Recorded in Jerusalem while leading an African Christian delegation through Israel, this conversation shines a piercing light on the brutal persecution of Christians in Africa — and on the kind of courageous faith that refuses to back down.

The church in Iran today is thought to be the fastest growing church in the world, in spite of intense persecution. Why is that? In this episode Matt talks with Lana Silk, the CEO of Transform Iran. Lana grew up in an Iranian Christian family in The Islamic Republic of Iran during the Iran-Iraq War and the early years of Ayatollah Khomeini. She talks of the state's indoctrination of even primary school students - teaching hatred towards Israel and America and she relates the harsh curbing of freedoms in those years, particularly for women. But she also recounts how the same strict form of Islamic Law and Government in Iran unexpectedly has led many Muslims to a hunger for something different, leading hundreds of thousands of them to discover Jesus.Check out and get behind Transform Iran's incredible ministry by visiting transformiran.comSupport the show_________________________________________________________________________________Do get in touch if you have any questions for Matt or for any of his guests.matt@frontiers.org.ukYou can find out more about us by visiting www.frontiers.org.ukOr, if you're outside the UK, visit www.frontiers.org (then select from one of our national offices).
