Finding Life, Hope, and Healing After Divorce with Jessica Kastner Have you ever wondered if your story is over because your marriage ended? Divorce can feel like a death—of dreams, identity, family, and future. But in this tender and hope-filled conversation, Leslie sits down with author and speaker Jessica Kastner to talk honestly about divorce, grief, shame, healing, and the beautiful truth that God is still writing your story. Jessica shares vulnerably from her own journey through divorce, including the pain of rejection, the temptation to rush into another relationship, and the slow, sacred work of learning that God alone is enough. Together, Leslie and Jessica offer compassion, clarity, and biblical hope for women who feel broken, disqualified, or afraid that life will never feel whole again. Key Takeaways Divorce Is Not Your Identity Jessica reminds women that divorce may be part of your story, but it is not who you are. Your worth is not determined by whether someone chose you, stayed with you, or left you. God created you with purpose, dignity, and calling—and divorce does not cancel that. Grieving Is Necessary Before Rebuilding Too often, women try to numb the pain of divorce through dating, busyness, or distraction. Jessica honestly shares how rushing into relationships after her first divorce kept her from grieving and healing. Her encouragement is clear: give yourself time, sit with God in the pain, and allow Him to become your refuge. You Don't Need a Man to Be Whole Leslie and Jessica talk about the difference between wanting companionship and needing a relationship in order to be okay. When another person becomes necessary for your worth, security, or identity, they take a place only God can fill. Healing helps you come into any future relationship as a whole adult—not someone looking to be completed. Co-Parenting Requires Grace, Boundaries, and Maturity Divorce creates painful complications, especially when children are involved. Jessica encourages women to focus on the children's well-being rather than getting caught in power struggles with an ex-spouse. Leslie adds the importance of keeping your side of the street clean through wise boundaries, limited contact when needed, and calm, clear communication. Your Story Is Not Over Whether you remarry someday or remain single, your life still matters. Leslie and Jessica challenge the lie that your “best years” are behind you. With God, you can continue to grow, heal, serve, and become a stronger, wiser, more grounded version of yourself. Personal Invitation Feeling overwhelmed and unsure where to start? Get the Quickstart Guide and take your next step toward clarity, courage, and healing. Download the Quickstart Guide here: https://leslievernick.com/guide Friend, divorce may feel like the end of everything familiar, but it is not the end of you. God is not surprised by your pain, your questions, or your future. He is near to the brokenhearted, faithful in the wilderness, and able to bring beauty from ashes. You are not disqualified. You are not forgotten. And with God's help, you can grieve, heal, grow, and step into the next chapter of your life with courage and hope.
Pastor Rodney teaches that lamenting is not a lack of faith but an act of faith, an invitation to bring our pain honestly before God, where honesty opens the door to hope and healing. Through remembering God's faithfulness, choosing trust in the waiting, and turning toward Him instead of away, we find that even our deepest suffering can become a place where God restores, shapes, and heals us. "Our hearts should not be defined by trauma; it should be a redefining moment for us." -Marcia Earhart Marcia Earhart is a certified trauma, grief, brain, and mental health coach, as well as an author and heart sync minister. Her work is steeped in professional expertise and personal experience, having endured the profound loss of two sons in her own life. Marcia is the author of "Gripping Grace in the Garden of Grief," a memoir that also serves as a guide for those navigating profound loss. She co-founded the Sterling Rose Sanctuary, a nonprofit that supports mental health and provides safe spaces for healing in the U.S. and internationally. Episode Summary: In this emotional and insightful episode of "Only Health, There Is Hope," host Jana Short invites Marcia Earhart to share her powerful story of resilience and hope amidst unimaginable grief. Marcia, a certified life and trauma coach, recounts her personal journey through the loss of two sons and how these experiences fueled her mission to help others find hope and healing. Her work, along with her book "Gripping Grace in the Garden of Grief," underscores the importance of navigating grief with intention and embracing life's ongoing purpose. Listeners will gain valuable insights into the complexities of grief and the cultural limitations surrounding it through Marcia's compassionate guidance. The episode highlights the significance of living resiliently and choosing hope over despair, a choice Marcia and her family had to make following their tragic losses. As the founder of The Sterling Rose Sanctuary, Marcia aims to provide solace and support to those grappling with grief, offering a new perspective that encourages a life embraced with purpose and gratitude. Key Takeaways: Grief should not define individuals; instead, it can serve as a redefining moment. The healing process from trauma requires intentionality rather than reliance on time alone. Providing practical support to those in grief, such as groceries or a visit, can be a significant act of kindness. There are cultural differences and misconceptions in how grief is processed, which can lead to feelings of isolation. The Sterling Rose Sanctuary's mission is to foster healing environments and provide resources for those dealing with mental health challenges. He is the founder of Richmond Integrative and Functional Medicine and the Virginia Research Center. Episode Summary: In this enlightening episode of "All My Health, There Is Hope," host Jana Short welcomes Dr. Aaron Hartman to dive into the depths of healthcare, functional medicine, and personal experiences of hope and transformation. Dr. Hartman shares his profound journey into functional medicine, driven by the experiences with his adopted daughter, who was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Traditional medical practices provided limited hope, compelling Dr. Hartman and his family to seek alternative methods, ultimately leading to astounding breakthroughs in his daughter's health and his professional outlook. Throughout the conversation, they explore the intersection of conventional and functional medicine, revealing systemic gaps and the need for a more integrated healthcare approach. Dr. Hartman emphasizes the importance of not solely relying on prescribed treatments when faced with chronic illnesses but also seeking the root causes behind health issues. His book, "Uncurable," is discussed as a beacon of hope for those battling misdiagnoses and seeking comprehensive solutions in their health journeys. The episode serves as a stirring reminder of resilience, the importance of asking the right questions, and the potential for healing when conventional paths fall short. Key Takeaways: Dr. Hartman's journey into functional medicine was inspired by his daughter's significant health challenges and gaps in traditional medical approaches. On this episode of the Charity Charge Show, host Grayson Harris sat down with Teresa Stafford-Wright, CEO of the Hope and Healing Survivor Resource Center, to discuss what it really takes to serve survivors of sexual violence, domestic violence, and human trafficking and what it takes to keep those services running. This is not light work. It is urgent, complex, and deeply human. And it requires more than just good programming. It requires strong operations, honest fundraising, and a community that understands what it actually costs to keep the doors open.Serving Survivors Since 1974The Hope and Healing Survivor Resource Center has served Northeast Ohio since 1974.The organization supports survivors across Summit and Medina Counties with a full spectrum of services, including:24-hour crisis hotlineEmergency shelterCounseling and clinical servicesCourt and legal advocacyHospital accompaniment during forensic examsPrevention education in schools and community spacesEvery service is free. That is not negotiable. As Teresa explained, survivors should not have to pay to recover from a crime committed against them. Whether someone calls at 3:00 a.m. or 3:00 p.m., they are met by trained professionals ready to respond through a trauma-informed lens. This is both crisis response and long-term healing. And it requires serious infrastructure.

Stéphanie welcomes Kathrine Lee to discuss, through the film "Still Hope," the harsh realities of human trafficking, the hope that is possible beyond it, and the life-changing freedom that comes from knowing Christ.Hope, identity, and healing are possible, no matter the darkness. Forgiveness is a courageous, ongoing act that transforms not only survivors of trafficking but anyone struggling with pain. By embracing story, community, and action, each of us can help bring healing and God's light into the darkest places—starting with ourselves. Our brains remember narratives far more vividly than mere facts. The movie “Still Hope” stands apart from other films on human trafficking by showcasing not only the darkness but also the healing journey that survivors undertake. The film's narrative is survivor-informed—real experiences, heartbreak, and ultimately, hope are at its core. This careful storytelling invites viewers not just to witness, but to empathize and reflect on their own lives.A central theme in both the movie and Kathrine Lee's work is the biblical truth that one's true identity cannot be stolen—even by the evil of trafficking. The movie's protagonist, Hope, has her name changed by her trafficker. Yet, she emerges, still Hope. Kathrine Lee shares a moving insight from a survivor: “They can take so much from me, but they cannot take my name.” This empowers survivors to remember who they are as beloved children of God, with purpose and the possibility of transformation.Healing from trauma, especially such profound exploitation, is a long-term process. Pure Hope Foundation practices a trauma-informed approach, honoring each survivor's choices and pace. Some survivors advised on the film, lending authenticity to its scenes, while others prefer not to revisit those memories at all—a choice fully respected by Kathrine Lee and her team.Forgiveness is the critical theme. The journey is neither easy nor immediate. Forgiving doesn't mean forgetting, nor does it diminish the need for justice. Instead, it's about releasing the hold of pain and reclaiming freedom and light. As Kathrine Lee teaches, "Forgiveness equals freedom,” and is a process of aligning our lived reality with the truth of who God says we are.Trafficking injures people through an evil community, and it is in healthy, supportive community that true healing takes place. Pure Hope Foundation offers a space where survivors develop life skills, work experience, and a sense of belonging. The film also shows how healing encompasses the families of survivors, teaching everyone about boundaries, safe relationships, and grace.Awareness is not enough. Action is required—whether through supporting films like "Still Hope," volunteering, donating, or simply living out love and advocacy in everyday life. Worship and prayer also play an essential role, as these spiritual disciplines open our hearts to both healing and purpose.Let's take our place and bring hope to a hurting world.Three Important Questions to ponder after this conversation:· How did the narrative form of "Still Hope" shift your understanding of human trafficking?· In what ways do you resonate with the theme of identity that cannot be taken from you?· Where in your life might forgiveness—of yourself or others—bring greater freedom?MORE ABOUT THE MOVIE “STILL HOPE”Hope, a teenager from a tight-knit community, finds herself in danger when the person she believes to be a new friend proves unsafe. Taken from all she knows, Hope is forced into sex trafficking and stripped of her identity. After finding freedom from her captors, Hope discovers that survival is only the first step. Inspired by true stories, Hope's journey is a powerful illustration of the courage it takes to walk the complex path of recovery.“Unlike other films, this story isn't just about the rescue piece but also about redemption, resilience and walking alongside survivors on their journey to healing,” said Kathrine Lee, co-founder and CEO of Pure Hope Foundation. Pure Hope is a nonprofit organization mobilizing action against the sex trafficking industry and played a pivotal role in the real-life stories behind the film. “It highlights the bravery of women and men who have endured sex trafficking and the courageous work of recovery. That's why this film is so important.”Showcasing the aid of individuals and organizations who stand shoulder to shoulder with these warriors, viewers of Still Hope will be encouraged to join arms with advocates in the fight against trafficking.“Your voice and your support matters,” said Natalie Grant, cofounder of Hope for Justice, nine-time GRAMMY® nominee and supporter of Still Hope. “I want to encourage viewers to join this important and courageous work of healing—not just for each individual impacted by sex trafficking but for the dedicated advocates guiding those who are ready to receive support.”More at https://stillhopemovie.com/ MORE ABOUT PURE HOPE FOUNDATION WITH KATHRINE LEEKathrine Lee is the co-founder of Pure Hope Foundation, a second-stage program that restores survivors and aids in ending the demand for sex trafficking. In this episode of the Joyful Health Show, I talk with author and speaker Kim Crabill about her personal journey through an eating disorder, her hidden suffering, how it affected her identity and relationships, and what ultimately led her to freedom in Christ. Kim's stories are rooted in Scripture and rich with compassion as she invites you to lay down your burdens and come to Jesus, just as you are. We'll discuss: Why eating disorders are so prevalent, even among Christian women How comparison and performance quietly erode our sense of worth What it looks like to live fearlessly in a fear-filled world Eating disorders thrive in secrecy, comparison, and shame—but healing begins in truth, rest, and grace. It's time to not only believe in the words of God, but to believe Him and take Jesus at His word. Our prayer is that you'll receive the rescue of Christ and be empowered by His love and grace on your journey forward. The Hebrew Bible is hard for modern Latter-day Saints to read and understand. Not only was it written thousands of years ago in a world foreign to the modernity we live in, but we also read it through two thousand years of accumulated Christian understanding and two hundred years of LDS understanding. But even if we can’t read it as it was originally written, in Hope and Healing in the Hebrew Bible: What Ancient Texts Can Teach Modern Readers, Michael Huston shows us how to capture and understand the power and awe of the Hebrew Bible. After reading this book, I’m excited to reread the Bible. I have new tools for seeing the parts I’m familiar with with new eyes and finding value in the parts I’m less familiar with. Matt Maples emphasizes the critical role that community support plays in transforming the lives of veterans facing urgent crises. By addressing fundamental needs such as housing and transportation, organizations like USA Cares create the stability necessary for veterans and their families to recover, heal, and reintegrate successfully into civilian life. Matt highlights how the intervention of emergency grants at pivotal moments can prevent homelessness, family separation, and even suicide, making a tangible difference where it matters most. He underscores the importance of both compassion and accountability in creating lasting change, explaining that USA Cares ensures every donation is maximized for direct impact, with 89 cents of every dollar going straight to veteran support. Through transparent operations and strong partnerships, the organization builds trust and sustains its powerful mission to serve those who have served. Matt's message is clear. When communities rally together, combining resources and empathy, they can rewrite the stories of countless military families struggling to regain stability. In light of the ongoing need and the urgent realities so many veterans face, Matt calls on supporters to make a meaningful difference by giving a year-end gift of $22 per month. This recurring contribution can offer life-changing assistance to veterans in need. To take action and join the mission, he invites everyone to visit their website to make a donation and help support those who have sacrificed so much.
