We're joined by Dave Corkery from the Award winning Cinemile podcast as we take on The Doomsday Machine from The Original Series. Dave grapples with the idea of being known as a Trekkie and tells us why this episode stuck out for him on his lockdown inspired epic mission to watch all of Star Trek from the beginning, Liam pays an emotional tribute to Commodore Matt Decker, Matt argues that the characters sympathetic handling of the villain of the piece represents the hope in the human spirit that Roddenberry's Utopian vision celebrates, and Paul celebrates William Shatner's performance and how his turn makes The Captain's actions believable. So why not join us for another grand adventure by listening now! Dom and Chris have no choice but to immediately unpack the tectonic-plate-shifting news that Alec and Hilaria Baldwin are following Chris' advice and appearing on The Baldwins on TLC. After realizing this podcast has become a podcast solely about JLO (and now her sister Linda Lopez of 1010 Wins), they discuss Princess Kate (Where's Shelly?), Joe Jonas' many girlfriends, and the Billie Eilish and Tayhead Feud. Then, Dave and Cathy from The Cinemile Podcast join to unpack The Golden Bachelor and wade through the mess that Gerry and Theresa have left in their wake. They talk about hightights from Season 1, what we can hope to see in Season 2, and how Gerry and Theresa can use the upcoming season to their advantage and stay in the spotlight despite calling it quits. In this episode- recorded just before Christmas- I'm joined by not one but two very special guests to discuss a very special film. The film in question- which incidentally turns 40 years old this year(!)- is 'Ghostbusters' from director Ivan Reitman. My fantastic guests are Dave Corkery from The Cinemile podcast and Liam Dempsey, one of the hosts of Spocklight: A Star Trek Podcast. And the three of us are all huge fans of this movie and we could have easily talked for double the length of this episode on our thoughts and feelings for this stone cold classic and the films which have proceeded it (we even touch briefly on 'Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire' which comes out later this year).
Much like a vampire who has fallen wildly in love with you at first sniff, Twilight was simply inescapable. Like a teenage werewolf, it morphed rapidly, from 50 Shades fan fic to a best selling book to a film tie in, coinciding with the full moon of TMZ gossip culture rising across the horizon, making its young cast some of the most watched people on the planet. That's enough metaphors stretched to breaking point, we are joined by our friends at The Cinemile to unpick not just a film but a cultural juggernaut, both full of frankly disturbing behaviour. This episode contains spoilers. After having a photon torpedo blast doing Best Star Trek Scene - Part I and Part II, Will and Kevin have picked up where they left off and begun watching the final adventure of the Enterprise D crew — a soft reboot of Picard and a loose sequel to Star Trek Nemesis. Joined by Dave from The Cinemile podcast, this is their review/reaction to Star Trek Picard Season 3, Episode 5 — Imposters. Caught by Starfleet and facing court-martial, paranoia grows as Picard struggles to uncover whether a prodigal crewman from his past has returned as an ally or an enemy hellbent on destroying them all.You can contact the show with any comments, questions, or scene suggestions through Twitter or directly via bestbitspodcast.com/contact Please consider leaving a five-star review wherever you get your podcasts if you enjoy this episode.
