When asked to leave the premises, this English Rose transforms into a nasty piece of work. You wouldn't want to have tea with this woman at separate restaurants. There are seven busses in the fleet for seven different routes that will all be operated by C&C Executive Travel. The service begins at 9am daily in Miltown Malbay, Kilfenora, Doolin and Liscannor and will have busses arriving at, and leaving the Cliffs of Moher every half hour. A Wellington City Councillor says he's not holding his breath on 16-year-olds getting the vote. The Council has reaffirmed its support for letting them participate in local body elections, with only four councillors opposed. Councillor Ben McNulty says it was a quick vote - and he was in favour. But he says this Government's likely to ignore the call. "Whether LGNZ listens to Wellington, whether the Government then listens to LGNZ - who knows? It's purely symbolic." McNulty says symbolism is sometimes important in politics. In this episode, Devin McNulty, founder of Funmentum Labs and creator of Funware, joins us to explore what happens when you treat fun not as fluff—but as a powerful lever for doing serious work. After 15 years of leading high-stakes strategy and innovation workshops for Fortune 500 teams, Devin set out to scale his approach. The result: Funware, an AI-powered facilitation tool that helps hybrid teams run faster, more creative workshops—without needing a pro facilitator in the room. He shares how it works: from AI that rephrases vague challenges into crisp prompts, to bots that throw out just-bad-enough ideas to unlock new thinking. We dive into the deep end of design choices—why Devin treats AI like a co-facilitator, not a thought partner, and how he builds in levity and timing to shift posture in skeptical rooms. He talks about “pre-training” AI the same way you'd brief a human teammate, and what it means to productize your own facilitation brain. The conversation is also a blueprint for AI-first entrepreneurship: how to turn creative intuition into software, how to build with (and not for) users, and how to design tools that spark real interaction—not just outputs.Whether you're leading workshops, building internal tools, or trying to make your team more idea-generative, this episode is packed with insights on creative AI, team dynamics, and the future of facilitation.Key Takeaways:Fun Is a Strategic Tool—Not a Distraction – Devin challenges the assumption that “fun” and “serious work” are at odds. His facilitation method uses play to unlock alignment, compress timelines, and spark better ideas—especially in rooms that normally resist creative approaches.AI Can Facilitate, Not Just Assist – Most teams use AI as a solo tool or sidekick. Devin flips the script—designing AI to act like a group facilitator. Funware injects prompts, rephrases challenges, and even drops well-timed bad ideas to shift group dynamics and drive progress.Pre-training Your AI Is Like Prepping a Human Teammate – One of Devin's biggest insights: treat your AI agents like collaborators. Build them with clear intent, layer in prompting strategy, and fine-tune them for the moment they'll be used—just like you'd brief a co-facilitator before a workshop.Productizing Yourself Is the New Playbook – Devin's journey is a case study in AI-first entrepreneurship—turning deep craft into software. His advice? Start with your workflow, atomize it into repeatable components, and build tools that deliver value with the push of a button.Website: Funmentum™ LabsLinkedIn: Devin McNulty | LinkedIn00:00 Intro to Funmentum Labs & Funware00:38 Why Fun Is a Powerful Work Strategy01:41 Overcoming Skepticism in Serious Workplaces02:27 Techniques to Engage Resistant Teams06:32 Can AI Be Funny? Send us a textCan you feel it? Well, if you don't live in New Orleans right now, maybe not but LIVE IT vicariously through me and my family! Douglas and my oldest daughter LOVE Jazz Fest. Me, you may ask? Nope. I went back 13 years ago to surprise my sweet mama! We took her to see Al Green and it was epic. It was hot. It was super bright and my skin turned 7 shades of red. I'm good on that, but I LOVE to see the happiness flow through my family and the rest of partakers. This year, I thought it would be super cool to welcome the King of Food Reviews and All things NOLA! Who none other than NOLA.COM's inspirational food and culture writer, Ian McNulty! And y'all... he is the REAL DEAL.Foodies are intimidating, usually. Remember that guy that would come to review  the food in the Disney movie Ratatouille? Ok- well that is NOT Ian. I was able to sit down and really hear the passion in his voice and the love in his heart for New Orleans. Ian McNulty has been writing about the life and culture of New Orleans since 1999 as a reporter, columnist, and author. He is a staff writer for the New Orleans Advocate, where he focuses on the food culture of one of the world's great food cities, and his radio commentaries air weekly on the New Orleans NPR affiliate. He is author of A Season of Night: New Orleans Life after Katrina and Louisiana Rambles: Exploring America's Cajun and Creole Heartland, both published by University Press of Mississippi. The latter was named one of the top travel books by the Society of American Travel Writers. (courtesy google.com) Sit down, grab some Iced Tea and get inspired by Mr. McNulty's journey from North to South and all in between. Find his book all over and here! https://www.amazon.com/Season-Night-Orleans-after-Katrina/dp/1934110914______________________________________________________________________________________________Then later, we welcome New York Times Best Selling Duo from the Illustrated Baby Sitter's Club series and the Superman Adventures Comics, Raina Telgemeier and Scott McCloud! The two teamed up with Scholastic to create a children's novel that allow kids' own wheels to turn while submerging them into a world that explores their own understanding of topics like death. My oldest daughter loved it. It was so cute to see her curled up on the couch or her bed reading this book with such pride. She was so excited to review it for me. "Makayla is bursting with ideas but doesn't know how to make them into a story. Howard loves to draw, but he struggles to come up with ideas and his dad thinks comics are a waste of time. Lynda constantly draws in her sketchbook but keeps focusing on what she feels are mistakes, and Art simply loves being creative and is excited to try something new. They come together to form The Cartoonists Club, where kids can learn about making comics and use their creativity and imagination for their own storytelling adventures!"Find this BRAND NEW and NEWLY RELEASED BOOK EVERYWHERE! An episode that uncovers the intimate side of autism. Here's what's in store for today's episode: * Our hosts explore autistic intimacy in this episode, beginning with the unique challenges of dating as an autistic person.* There are countless preconceived notions about autistic people and intimacy—that's why we've invited autistic sex and relationship therapist Kate McNulty to join us for this episode!* Autistic adults have only recently begun speaking out and being taken somewhat seriously. Before this, parents were the ones speaking for their autistic children, which has left autistic sexuality largely unexplored and misunderstood.* It seems that autism parents focus on teaching life skills—but understanding sexuality and relationships is one too.* Much of the lack of research into autistic sexuality is, unfortunately, rooted in eugenics.* On the other hand, 5% of the autistic community is asexual, meaning they experience intimacy in a different way.* We also dive into the idea of couples therapy and how it can support autistic relationship dynamics.* In addition, we discuss the unfortunate reality of masking in relationships—how many autistic individuals feel pressured to suppress their true selves to meet societal or partner expectations, and the emotional toll this can take over time.* Autistic people tend to be much more accepting of unconventional relationship structures—an interesting contrast, given that they also highly value sameness and consistency.* We also explore how SPIN sharing—bonding over special interests—can be a crucial component of autistic intimacy.* In addition to this, we also discuss the diversity of autistic intimacy and the strong presence of LGBTQ individuals within the community.* Sensory overwhelm can be a real challenge in the bedroom for autistic individuals, so we discuss effective strategies for managing it.* Plus, we talk about how to create a sensory-friendly bedroom environment to help facilitate a more comfortable and intimate experience.* There's nothing sexier in an autistic relationship dynamic than a partner who is accommodating and flexible.* Finally, we explore autistic joy and the profound impact it has on our intimate relationships. We discuss how embracing the things that bring us joy—whether it's special interests, shared experiences, or moments of connection—can deepen emotional bonds and create a more authentic, fulfilling dynamic in relationships.“The majority of the people that I've worked with are adults. I've worked with some teenagers who are now in their 20's. And every once in awhile, I get a parent who signs their teenager or 20 something or 40 something up for therapy. And they want their autistic child to have ‘life skills'. But when you come into relationships and sex, all of a sudden, it's like ‘my God, no, we can't do that!”, because they're still under the impression that their kid who has trouble making food or getting a job or something is never going to have a healthy relationship.” - Matt “It is a major turn-on to see someone very intensely sorting and categorizing their rock collection.” - Matt“We want to do all we can to make the bedroom a sensory-friendly environment. That oftentimes means getting clutter out of the way, making sure the sheets are clean, getting rid of any fragrances from laundry or soap or body products, anything that's gonna interfere. It's important to be candid with one another about that and not take it personally.” - Kate“There are some things about autistic nervous systems that are unlikely to change. We don't become desensitized. We can try to be flexible and match our partner's desires, but we can only take it so far. And that's a can't, not a won't.” - Kate “I will confirm that there's nothing sexier than a flexible partner.” - Matt“Part of autistic intimacy is knowing that there's room for all kinds of imaginative play, sharing weird fantasies or quirky ideas, and being in that space together, that psychological space you share of imagination and anything being possible.” - MattDid you enjoy this episode? We explored the intersection of autism with various aspects of life, diving into the unique experiences of autistic intimacy and relationships. Women have been left on the sidelines when it comes to sport and exercise research. Research finds a measly 6% of studies in the field have exclusively focused on women. That's bad. But for menopausal women, it's worse. Of that 6%, menopausal women account for only 9% of total study participants, with only 16% of female-only studies focusing exclusively on older women. This despite the fact that 40+ women have been lining up in greater numbers in sports of all kinds. We deserve better and this week's guest, women's health and performance researcher, Kelly McNulty, PhD, has a lot to say about it. We talk about what she has learned studying menopausal women of all walks of life and how education and information can make our lives exponentially better. Kelly McNulty, PhD, is a research assistant at Northumbria University currently investigating endocrinological, lifestyle, and psychosocial determinants of brain health outcomes in female veterans. She is a graduate from Northumbria University, with both a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Sport and Exercise Science and a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Strength & Conditioning. Wellington housing valuations have taken a dive, with no suburb unscathed. QV valuations show house values have fallen 24.4 percent since 2021, with the average house value now sitting just under $1.1 million. Auckland valuations are expected to show little movement since 2021. City Councillor Ben McNulty says it won't change rates bills much. "The council has decided it needs 13 percent more money from rate-payers to run the city for next year, which means rates have to go up to meet that amount." We're starting 2025 way down in the hole, with a look back on one of the undisputed great TV series of our time. Our guest today is a storyteller responsible for shows like Treme, Generation Kill, The Deuce, The Plot Against America and We Own This City, but best known of course for The Wire – a show that began at a crime scene, with blood splattered across granite, police lights painting the pavement red, white and blue. It was here that audiences first met Detective McNulty, played by Dominic West, chatting with a murder witness. A kid had been killed for trying to rob a dice game – a stunt he tried to pull often. Usually, the kid in question, named Snot Boogie, got away with just a beating. This time, not so lucky. “I gotta ask you,” McNulty asks the witness. “If Snot always stole the money, why'd you always let him play?” The witness sighs, and the camera cuts to Snot's motionless body, gazing towards us from the floor. “Got to,” replies the witness. “This is America.”That line was the first clue that The Wire wasn't going to be like other television series. David wanted this police procedural, informed by his own experiences reporting on crime in the area as a journalist for the Baltimore Sun, to be more than another show about cops and criminals; it was to offer a microcosm of America itself. The Wire won no awards. Just 70,000 people tuned into the show's final episode, capping five critically and commercially overlooked seasons in 2008. Its creator didn't watch TV – David, in fact, pretty much hated the medium. And yet, The Wire has become recognised as one of the most important pieces of American pop culture of the millennium so far: a novelistic cross section of the Land of the Free, that bloomed from a tale about a phone-tapping team of lawmakers into an interrogation of media, education and everything in between. The spoiler conversation you're about to hear is a window into everything that is possible in the medium of television – and everything that's perhaps wrong with it right now, too. David was really candid about his struggles to get new work off the ground and onto screens in 2025 despite the enormous influence of The Wire. You'll hear how McNulty came to be, the real-life inspirations behind the show's most iconic character Omar, how far western society has come in addressing the systemic problems exposed in The Wire (spoiler alert: not very) and much, much more. And you'll also discover the lost season of The Wire that David devised, but that never made it to air.Script Apart is hosted by Al Horner and produced by Kamil Dymek.
