SKorea Overturns PM Impeachment South Korea's Constitutional Court overturned parliament's impeachment of Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, reinstating him as acting president. Han, South Korea's No. 2 official, had become acting leader after President Yoon Suk Yeol was impeached by the opposition-controlled National Assembly over his Dec. 3 imposition (實施) of martial law that triggered a massive political crisis. But Han was impeached by the assembly as well in late December following political strife with opposition lawmakers. The Constitutional Court says today it has decided to overturn Han's impeachment. The court has yet to issue a ruling on Yoon's impeachment. Yoon has been separately arrested and charged with rebellion in connection with his martial law decree. If convicted of that charge, he would face the death penalty or a life sentence. And if the court rules against him, South Korea must hold a national election to find a new president. WISH-TV Political Reporter Garrett Bergquist sits down with Deb Whitfield, member of the Lawrence Common Council and Republican candidate for mayor.Whitfield said she's running for mayor because it's time for a new voice and a mayor that represents the diversity of Lawrence. She said she hears from a number of small businesses who feel unable to break into the Lawrence market, so she wants to break up what she calls the good old boy system. During the primary, she told News 8 she wants to build a small business incubator at Civic Plaza."I have heard from so many different companies, small businesses, that don't have an opportunity in Lawrence," she said. "I want them to feel that they can come and they can have an opportunity to grow in Lawrence."Whitfield said Lawrence's police and firefighters must continue to receive the resources they need in order to keep the streets safe. She also said she would support an ordinance similar to what the Indianapolis City-County Council passed this summer that would prohibit permitless carry and any new purchases of military-style rifles within the city limits of Lawrence, as well as raise the minimum age to buy a gun to 21. A provision in Indianapolis' ordinance leaves it inactive unless the state's preemption law is repealed.Whitfield said her efforts to engage the community and her work in the health care field make her the best candidate for mayor because so much of that work involves listening to people's concerns. She said residents should believe they have a voice no matter their background and tapping into this would help the city grow rapidly.Early voting runs through noon on Nov. 6 and Election Day is Nov. 7. Due to the consolidated city-county government, voters in Lawrence, Southport and Beech Grove will have to choose mayors for their own towns as well as take part in the Indianapolis mayor's race.Indiana early voting began Wednesday, October 12.“All INdiana Politics” airs at 9:30 a.m. Sundays on WISH-TV.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Sean Hodgins grew up in the construction business and is now the president of Century Group, a family-owned business that was started in 1957. The company is based in New Westminster, BC but has recently been doing a lot of work in Vancouver working alongside local communities and neighbourhoods to add flavour and housing as needed. The mid-sized real estate development and management company handles its own construction while also managing enough income-producing properties to balance the tables. Over the past few years, Sean has seen a lot, but nothing compares to the past 12 months as he has watched the construction process and housing market flip-flop in terms of local government and red tape. He commented that for a bit at the beginning it was almost refreshing to work with inspectors and the government as they waived some protocols and practices due to COVID. However, now the protocols and practices are back in place, and units are roadblocked waiting on permits. Sean commented that he would "like to think there would be a better way to deal with this process" and that "expediency isn't caught with due process" which makes it harder to survive. Interestingly enough, Sean works constantly with local governments despite acknowledging the difficulties with regulations, with the final goal of creating purpose-driven housing communities. He strongly believes that "local government needs to lead an intelligent discussion" to get local communities more involved in the planning processes. For example, if a neighbourhood feels they want better transit options then they need to be open to denser communities, which can be a difficult but necessary evil to address. His dream would be for local governments to really sit down with their people to discuss what they want upfront instead of waiting until people disagree with building permits and turn council meetings into a "shooting match at public areas." In fact, one of Sean's favourite projects while at Century Group was the construction of 3 Civic Plaza which is the largest project they created in Surrey. They worked closely with the Surrey City Development Corporation and identified a need to add sophistication to the downtown and the need for a hotel because there wasn't much to offer in the industry-focused area. Outside of improving government engagement, Sean reiterated the need to get more women into the construction industry stating that "we are much better, but we have to be better-er." He explained that they need the viewpoint of women to create better projects, and the construction industry in general needs to "really embrace and make a welcoming and inclusive environment" because this should not be "an alpha-male industry."

My heart breaks for New Mexico! We just had a report that New Mexico is the most dangerous place to live and now comes this very sad news that New Mexico had the worst graduation rate in the nation in 2015. ABQ Journal Report At the Albuquerque National Day of Prayer at the Civic Plaza on Tuesday, attended by over 2,000 people, Mercy Alarid prayed for education in New Mexico. Such a POWERFUL PRAYER by this woman of God! I learn from Mercy every time I talk to her, or hear her pray! I want to share Mercy’s powerful prayer with you……… Statistics tell us that New Mexico is 49th in child well being and 50th in child reading proficiency, even though we spend $9,000.00 a year per student and a total of $2 Billion on education. If money were the issue, we would have the best educational system money can afford. But money is not the source of our problem. Today, we want to pray for wisdom for our Governor, legislators, Superintendents, Principals, and school staff to manage those resources wisely in ways that positively affect our children and youth. Above all, we ask Lord that the fear of the Lord would fill the hearts and minds of all those leaders we have mentioned so that they make decisions that improve the quality of our education, regardless of the political cost. We thank you for the access we have to public schools and all of the resources they afford. We also want to thank you for Christian Schools. We ask that you would give them supernatural provision to keep their doors open and to continue being the beacons of light in our communities. May they have what they need to disciple and educate the next generation of Christian attorneys, judges, architects, police officers, nurses, electricians and professionals that will change New Mexico. Lastly, Lord, we pray that you would send more workers into the field of education. That more and more godly people would accept your call into school boards and positions such as teachers, principals, counselors and educational assistants. Help us to be salt and light in our state. In Jesus’ name, Amen. Pictured is Mercy with her husband, Pastor Brian who led the Albuquerque National Day of Prayer with Pastor Richard Mansfield and others from New Mexico Prays. So many volunteers also made the day possible, folks from all denominations! Amen!

It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman.
