We kick off this episode with Dave and Brock from the Elkhart Civic Theatre, located at the beautiful Bristol Opera House.  Dave and Brock share a bit about The Prom, which is the last show remaining in the 2022-2023 season. But don't fret because they share ALL the excitement about the upcoming 2023-2024 season which includes Sweeney Todd, Finding Nemo, Jr., Clue, a ECT original Well Crafted radio play and so much more! We also talk about The Michael Cripe Studio, the Elkhart Civic Theatre's annual two-week day camps for area youth. Designed for children from 8 to 18 years of age, the Storytellers' Theatre camp and the Musical Theatre Fast-track camp at the Bristol Opera House offer many students their first experiences on stage in a close, friendly learning environment. Then we wrap up with Jim and Amanda from the Boys and Girls Clubs of Elkhart County.  They share information on one of their FUNdraisers, BBQ & Brew Fest. There's something about the sound of a bat hitting a ball, the smell of freshly cut grass, and the excitement of a close game that brings people together. But what's even more fun than watching a baseball game? Being able to see a brand-new team kick off their season right here in Elkhart County. We kick off this episode hearing from Elkhart County Miracle President and team founder Craig Wallin. He tells us about all the fun things planned for this season and who we can see throwing out some of the first celebratory pitches of the season. Then we learn more about the Elkhart Public Library's Curbside Concerts from Trevor Wendzonka, the chief marketing officer for the Elkhart Public Library. Curbside Concerts this spring are all about reunions, good music, great friends and as always, these concerts are free. Trevor explains that bands play on the roof, so bring camp chairs and watch from their parking lot. In this episode, we talk to Andy Jones, Elkhart Municipal Airport Manager for the city of Elkhart. Andy tells us all about the air show and WWII reenactment “Salute to Veterans World War II” event that will be held on May 20 and May 21 at the Elkhart Airport. It's a big deal for Elkhart as the last air show was held 17 years ago and it's jam-packed with a lot of fun, exciting, historical and just simply cool things all weekend! We asked him what spectators will see and we talked all about German Tanks, Corsairs, P51 Mustangs, Multiple Stunt Planes, a General George Patton Impersonator, a 1942 Douglas C-53 Skytrooper with in Uniform crew, AND MORE. Then we chat to Courtney Franke, mill manager at Bonneyville Mill County Park, located in Bristol. In this episode, we talk to Cami and Michelle with Visit Nappanee and they share all of the fun planned for Taste of Nappanee and Spring Artisan Market. This annual event, held outside on the beautiful grounds of The Barns at Nappanee, is a fantastic way to experience a number of the exciting restaurants and businesses that make Nappanee their home. Businesses set up booths and give guests a "taste" of what they have to offer. You can enjoy samples of food from many of Nappanee's eateries, bakeries, and more! In addition, over 60 local artisans will have booths set up to share and sell their handcrafted items. Live music by Big Daddy Dupree will fill the grounds of The Barns while you celebrate all things Nappanee! Then we chat with Trevor Daugherty, a studio potter in Goshen and executive director and co-founder of the Northern Indiana Clay Alliance. Trevor shares about how the NICA's mission centers around providing opportunities for regional artists while preserving the 300-year history of clay in northern Indiana (because, guess what - there is a scientific reason northern Indiana has so many great potters!). But that wasn't all! Talented artists joined the celebration, with their creative and playful takes on public art around every corner on the Heritage Trail. On this episode, we chat with Lynn DeClemente Losavio, Program Officer at The Seward Johnson Atelier. Building on the legacy of the Johnson Atelier Technical Institute and School of Sculpture, The Seward Johnson Atelier promotes the appreciation of and education about sculpture and public art through the creation, maintenance, sales and public placement of Seward Johnson's sculpture. The Seward Johnson Atelier is the exclusive owner of copyright in Seward Johnson's sculpture and is committed to educating the public about his artistic legacy. Lynn talks about how Seward Johnson got his inspiration for the over 400 sculptures, how they are created and just why they look so lifelike. Then we chat with Josh Cooper, an incredible muralist from Goshen. Josh started painting and creating when he was young and growing up in Chicago, he was fascinated with street art and graffiti. Add in music, food, and drink to make this the perfect day to celebrate the region's art and kid-friendly activities make this perfect for the whole family. Then gear up for the Nappanee Apple Festival! This festival is home to Indiana's largest 7-foot baked apple pie and comes out of the oven just in time to kick off the festival! With the festival attracting an average of more than 80,000 people annually, it has become one of the largest festivals in the state of Indiana!
